Uniform sizing

Uniform - given the expense and the need for extra uniform for boarders do you buy big for the first year? The idea of replacing most of it annually is a bit horrifying. Secondhand options are limited. Our supplier uses intelligent sizing to recommend the right size to get.

I didn’t buy loads - wait and work out how efficient the laundry is. Ours is very quick and sport uniform not needed on consecutive days which helps some items. Plus my child
had done most growing so only grew out of some things. Plus loads of stuff on the list is also not used/ needed.
buy one of everything early to sort sizing out, then do a second order for top ups of jumpers shirts basic sport stuff and then you can always order extra items straight to school as needed.
we also discovered an informal second hand swap situation when we got there - which has helped

Be warned. If the intelligent sizing you are referring to is Schoolblazer, it often gets it wrong. It’s no substitute for trying stuff on.

As a warning from someone who still gets this wrong, do make sure to keep note of the size of all the uniform and sports kit you buy, especially if you buy it in a shop rather than online.

I never do this and although my DS is now going into his fifth year of boarding whenever I get a phone call that his school tracksuit top has been lost (again) I still have no idea what chest size to order (though I do know that there seems to be zero correspondence between the chest size he needs for his rugby top, tracksuit top, school jumpers and blazer which are all different, so asking him to check the size of those is no help at all). 🤣

Coming here to say intelligent sizing by school blazer so sooo far off! However, we just ended up ordering multiples, getting them to label it all up too 🤣 ended up sizing several sizes down in some things, up in others etc.

I measured the child and then ordered online. So far have done the first two years in the same blazer and sports kit. Trousers ans shirts outgrown every year but we can but them from any shop.
I always buy slightly big so we are not buying everything new every year.
Our matron runs lost property so no drama if they loose something, they can 'borrow' a spare.
