Sunningdale School

Would love some current feedback on Sunningdale School as we’re considering it for our son for Y5. In particular, has it weathered the VAT storm as a very small school and is it still very academic or becoming diluted as so many of the small schools are as they become less selective to stay afloat?

• boys have joined from other schools which have closed/struggled due to VAT

• team sport isn’t high quality as number of pupils is low

• good at getting boys into the appropriate senior schools

• current parents we know seem generally happy but not exactly bowled over

What have you decided @pointeral ? I think my son (going in Y4) will thrive at an active all-boys school but so many are becoming co-ed! He loves sport and is competitive so perhaps this is not the answer for him to grow his confidence. (He would also be a day student). I am also looking at Papplewick but we are not academically pushy or targeting Eton so perhaps that is not right either? Are there any all-boys schools left around Woking?

I think we've settled on Papplewick. We're not thinking about Eton either but felt like the best overall option! Good luck with your decision x
