Thinking of moving my child there for 6th form. Have always been hugely impressed with the old head so am curious about opinions on the new chap & general thoughts on 6th form provisions. Thank you (am booked onto Open Morning next week)

I'm a current parent. Two at Canford and one not there yet. It's obviously early days but my first impressions of CW are v positive - he's very engaging and energetic. I also very much liked BV but I agree with him that it's not always a great thing for heads to hang around for decades and decades. It's good to get some fresh thoughts and perspectives, and it seems like the right time for a change with the new sixth form centre and the merger with Dumpton (key feeder prep). I'm v happy with the school in general- good balance between academics and the rest, feels like a boarding school despite quite a large day contingent, great pastoral care which balances boundaries and warmth, and I like what they're doing with the sixth form, although my DC are younger so no personal experience. I do think results are very good given they are not super selective.

@AllJoyAndNoFun thank you so much for the info & your thoughts. BV was always the lure so there are big boots to fill. I’m really looking forward to open morning.

Agree, CW is good news.
The children we’ve sent there have always turned out well and I’ve got a soft spot for it, so I’m glad it’s in safe hands. I haven’t had the chance to catch up with old pupils since the opening of the 6th form centre, but I toured it last year and it was very impressive.
