For any one choosing schools I thought I would add my views on St Peter’s 8-13
Having recently moved on from a school in Harrogate due to a change work commitments I chose to send my daughter to St Peter’s School in York. While the school is often praised for its academic accolades, and rightly so I want to focus my comments on an aspect that often goes unsaid: the incredible pastoral care within the boarding house.
It goes without saying that St Peter’s excels academically, standing out as one of the top schools in the region. However, what truly underpins this academic success, in my view, is the nurturing environment created by the teaching and pastoral staff. From my personal experience, the care and attention provided in the boarding house have been nothing short of exceptional.
Due to my work commitments, my daughter has been a flexi-boarder at St Peter’s, and I have been absolutely blown away by how much she has flourished this year – not only academically but also personally. She often speaks of a deep sense of belonging and describes the boarding house as a close-knit, supportive family. Despite the school’s large campus and considerable pupil numbers, she is known and recognised by all staff a testament to how well the school values each individual child.
The behaviour and attitude of the pupils also reflect the school’s strong moral values. It’s clear that the ethos of respect, kindness, and support is not only taught but lived by the students.
As a parent of three children who have attended various schools across the region, I’ve never felt compelled to write a review before. But in today’s world, where the choice of school feels more important than ever, I believe it’s crucial to highlight institutions that offer not just academic excellence, but also a safe, caring, and nurturing environment. St Peter’s School has delivered all of that and more over the past year for our family.I really hope this goes towards helping people make difficult decisions as we see more school closures and changes over the coming years
