Year 7 ISEB

Any tips for preparing for ISEB in year 7?
Used atom learning in year 6 but doing ISEB again and atom learning only goes to year 6 - so wondered if other recommended resources?

Yikes! My DS is doing ISEB in Year 7 and his Prep is preparing him using Atom Learning. It never occurred to me that more would be needed.

Hi, I hope the ISEB went well for your child and you are getting the interviews that you wanted.

I hope you don't mind me asking, were they doing it in year 7 in order to get into a school you didn't get into in year 6 or were you new to it. I was wondering how many places were left open for children in year 7 at schools, as I think that we might have to go down this route as well?

I know that this is an old thread but interested to know how competitive it is at year 7 and whether quite a lot of schools have already allocated places to children at year 6.

Re Applying to schools we had tried year 6 - so far offers at 2/2 from year 7 iseb and interview at third. So definitely still places left.

I think it depends on the school and their admissions webpage should explain this clearly. Some schools allocate all their places in Year 6, some specifically hold back a proportion for Year 7, while others have Year 7 as their preferred application year (but will usually accept Year 6 applications so you can apply at the same time as you apply to others). Other than the most in demand (Eton etc) most will still have places for Year 7 applicants).

We always intended that DS would sit ISEB in Year 7 and we discussed this with our target schools in advance and got their blessing.

I also suspect that this year many schools will have fewer applicants following the application of VAT which will also go into the mix.
