Eton Waiting List offers?

Hello mums and dads of the net, my DS is on the Eton Waiting List for 2026, he just resat the computer test and had his interview. Boys on the Waiting List for 2026 are being assessed until the 13th June. Any idea when the first batch of offers will come in and when the largest number of offers for boys on the Waiting List will be made? Thank you!

I don't think there is a single answer to your question - it's just a matter of timing, waitlist position, how many people accept or withdraw, etc. There are boys who come in off the waitlist even well into F/E block ie. the first or second year so it's worth hanging in there!

Thanks @Xiaoxiong . It seems about half the offers are made straight after reassessment (end of the Y7 summer term) and the other half in Year 8, as the year goes on, depending on the number of withdrawals, as you say.

No one can predict OP, not even the school I'm afraid.

DS got his place in the spring before he started, that's when people who have offers from more than one school have to make the final decision, so there is a bit of a surge then. There are also a few more places that come up after the KS exams around the same time. For us it seemed to be quite a slow trickle before that then, but it was a while ago and admissions have changed since then.

As @Xiaoxiong says, there can be very last minute offers. One boy was unpacking at Harrow when he heard he had an offer from Eton!

Good luck @artistmother to you and your son. I hope he gets there eventually, it's a wonderful school.

My son left in 2017 (eeek!) so I would be no help regarding current HMs, I would give this advice though - don't worry about it! Pastoral care throughout the school is excellent and comes from domestic staff, tutors and teaching assistants every bit as much as from HMs.

There aren't any bad HMs and they will choose the boys they think will fit in well with the house ethos and the other boys.. See as many as you can and let them decide.
