Dear Mums- I would be grateful for any experience you have had with Kingham Hill boarding school. We are thinking of sending our son there for Y10 in September 2025. Many thanks!

Dear Pauline1607
I am so sorry your son is having such a hard time, it sounds awful. Thank you for sharing your experience with me, it is really helpful and I am grateful. Their approach sounds terrible and the lack of engagement to improve things for your son is a concern. Thank you again

Why on EARTH is your son still there given that catalog of horror ?

Pauline1607 · 21/03/2025 10:19

Dear Vatsallfolks,

My son is only at school 4 days a week now, from Tuesday to Friday, as he can't cope anymore. He is only able to 'survive' because he has good friends there. He won't be back for the summer term. We gave the school our notice and refuse to pay the fees for the last term. We may need to seek the help of a legal person because of the breach of the school's duty of care.

It’s not worth the money the results at local state schools are in same ballpark. It’s a passable place for day but not boarding so drill down carefully on boarding numbers & provision for them. Also the religious aspect does not sit well. Punitive for taking an extra banana etc. My SIL used to work there. Boarding House at state boarding school Burford much better option or Cheltenham College or the Oxford schools depending where you are.

We looked at it and were pretty shocked at the poor boarding facilities and life compared to other boarding options locally.
The religion was much more prominent than I expected as well, although that just depends ion your personal beliefs and choice.

We have had a terrible time at Burford - I would avoid.
