Question about Marlborough College Entry

8 replies

Cornemuse · 10/12/2024 21:13

Could someone please explain how this works? Is every student who applies, then invited to the Entry Day for Interview and Group activities? Or are only a percentage of those who applied then invited to Entry Day?

Are all candidates selected after Entry Day or is there another round in the selection process?

Thank you.

Hi, I believe all children who have registered, filled in all pre ISEB (Microsoft) forms etc, taken the ISEB and have had a HM reference submitted are invited to an assessment day.

All unconditional and waitlist offers are based on all the above and the assessment day results.

Agree. I think it's a very normal admission process like candidates will be culled by ISEB and then have an interview for the final decision.

Hi, I don't think there is any major culling at ISEB stage. DS was invited to an assessment day at Marlborough just before taking the ISEB, so I assume that most, if not all, attend an assessment day.

I'm so sorry. I've checked their website, and there seems no screening by the ISEB result.

Great. Thank you all for your responses. I am trying to figure out how various schools' assessment processes work, not helped by the fact I didn't attend upper school in the UK so all of this is quite new and bewildering to me.

Appreciated. Marlborough was one of our options and went to the school tour but didn't apply for some reasons. Boys guided us were very polite and down to earth. Great facilities, especially huge and well maintained pitches. Boarding House was nice, too. Excellent school.

I hope you'll find the best school where your DC will thrive and be happy!

May I ask why you decided against applying? Thank you.

@Cornemuse
Just because of the distance from London where I live in. A bit too far.
