Woldingham: empty at weekends?

Hi, we are thinking about Woldingham for DD next year for Y7 and wondering if most girls go home at the weekend or if a good number stay onsite - and are there fun weekend activities planned or mostly do your own thing?
Thank you!

No recent experience of Woldingham, but the question to ask when you visit is ‘how many girls were in for Sunday breakfast/lunch last weekend’. Otherwise they fob you off with numbers based on an exciting weekend or matches.

Roughly one third of children come down from SW London to Woldingham, with most flexi boarding or a bit of weekly boarding at best.
I would say it does empty out at weekends though (well depending on your definition of that); that said, there’s a fairly large cohort of overseas students who are usually kicking about at weekends.

They tend to have an activity every weekend for the girls - going by minibus to a town or cinema etc. I'm sure they would show you the calendar which has all of the extra weekend activities on. The girl I know is a weekly boarder there and enjoys it very much. I thinknit does quieten over weekends but that may not be a bad thing if your dd isn't used to having people around all of the time. The girl I know is the only weekly in a room with 3 full but I know they also do flexi boarding. Lots of lovely house staff too and the food is amazing.
