Going grey - help!

I have long dark hair and since having my kids (now 1 and 3) it’s rapidly going grey. I’ve got visible thick white streaks and a bunch of fuzzy grey hair which sticks up on top!

I’m extremely low maintenance and have had my hair cut twice in about three years. I usually wash it, let it dry naturally and then tie it back. Anyhow, I’m getting to the age now where I can’t get away with it anymore and I’m just looking a mess.

I’m thinking about getting my hair cut into a bob and covering the greys but have no idea how to go about it. I called a salon and they quoted over a hundred pounds for a cut and dye. Do people pay this every six weeks?!! Or, I guess alternatively i could dye at home but have no idea how easy this is or what kind of dye to get. I guess my biggest worries are finding a way to keeping on top of roots without breaking the bank. With two young young kids I feel time and financially poor.

would really appreciate any tips and guidance as what to do. Thank you
