Anyone black in Dudley?

I didn’t know there was a black mumsnetter. Really excited to read the posts and hopefully get some insights.

I have recently moved to Dudley in a predominantly white area and feeling stuck at home with my toddler. People seem ok but haven’t really passed the hello and bye stage yet. I doubt we will…Any mums around these ends?

Welcome Aaya. It's quieter here than it used to be. The only black person from Dudley I know is Lenny Henry, so not much use, sorry. Hopefully someone will pop along with a sensible reply!

Hi. I have black family (I'm black too) who live in Dudley and actually have quite a lot of black friends and neighbours. I guess it depends on which part you live in. I hope you're able to meet and make some black friends soon.

Hey Krystal, thanks for your message. Let me know if you have room for more friends. I am free next week 😊

Hi, oh I live in London but do visit my family in Dudley every so often so could meet up

You’re probably aware of all these places too:

Google lists three libraries in the town - at least one of them must be child friendly.

And you could investigate the local leisure centres / swimming pools.

Stating the obvious but you’re more likely to meet people if you get out and about with your toddler and find interesting things to do. Don’t know if you travel by car or use public transport but you have all the delights and entertainment of Birmingham just 15 minutes away by train. Don’t feel stuck - take advantage of the last of the good weather to explore your new area.

Thank you EscapadeVelocity we have been doing lots of summer stuff lately and visited a few nurseries. We also go to the park and soft play areas. We’ve been to Birmingham and a few sights. It’s not easy with public transport but we go out now. I just haven’t met any ‘friends’ or likeminded people around my area. Most people are friendly but seem to keep themselves to themselves. It’s not like London where you can just have a chat to strangers on the bus or tube….the vibe is just off and awkward…I guess I'm being a bit impatient …it will come with time. Thanks again😊
