Black family moving from London to Folkestone

Hi all, got our house on the market in London and Folkestone is one of our chosen destinations (mainly for quality of life, sea views and other aspects). DD is almost secondary age and will look to get a place at Folkestone school for girls. Question is, are we making the right choice as a black family to move there? Any thoughts/lived experiences that could help with our decision?

Born and bred Folkestonian here!
As you are asking about my hometown, there will be some bias here.
Folkestone has certainly become a more diverse community since I was a child. The placement of a Gurkha regiment in the town and other factors mean that a wider range of cultures and religions are represented in our schools.
The Girls school has an excellent reputation for academic success. I am a former Headteacher and, approx 6 years ago, I supported a parental appeal for a pair of black twins to attend the school. I know that both achieved well during their time there.
Feel free to message me with specific questions.

Thank you for this and the offer of reaching out directly. I'll come up with some more questions for you then!

No, unfortunately we did not as just didn't see it as diverse enough for our dd at this time. Going to Hertfordshire for now and will see where the wind blows us when she goes off to uni!
