Holiday destinations - any advice

Hello. I am planning on taking a 7 day holiday in August 2025. Any advice on a safe sunny welcoming holiday destination for a black 40+ y.o woman and her 2 teen mixed-race children. Budget around £2.5k. Thanks, black mumsnetters.

August is peak period, I tend to stay in the UK in August as that's when the weather is best.
I've enjoyed several states in the US, parts of Sweden, Turkey, Greece, Italy and Israel without problems. Egypt and Morocco on the other hand didn't leave mostly pleasant memories.

What do you look forward to or enjoy on holiday?

Thank you. Have to go in August as my children are both at secondary school.
We are quite active and have previously been on single parent holidays, but the costs of these are becoming prohibitive (and involve long coach journeys).

Mallorca. I see black families enjoying meals out in Palma each time I’m there.

We had a fantastic holiday in Crete this summer. Two young adult dc with us so 2 rooms - flights and half board for 7 nights for kids and 10 nights for us cost c. £2.6k.
It was the last week in August so that may have been a bit cheaper than normal.

Check out easyJet holidays - first time using them for package holidays, not sure how they escaped me before as it seems logical that they would package holidays where they fly to.

Search functions are good - just filter destination and any other requirements and you’ll likely find something to suit.
Good luck!

I should have said the food was great, weather wasn’t blisteringly hot - high 20s but with a breeze it was pleasant, beautiful beaches - ticked all the boxes for us.

Portugal and Majorca stand out as favourites. Good weather good food lots to do. Portugal especially, I like Faro, Lagos and Lisbon. Went there quite a bit when DCs were little, and in their teens too

Spain, though avoid southern Spain, and Portugal.

Tip- if you live in the Northern part of the UK then go from a Scottish airport as it will be cheaper their schools go back in August.

@Reugny - why avoid southern Spain? Curious as I’ve had fabulous holidays in Seville and Cadiz.

It's simply too hot to go there in August if you normally live in Northern Europe.

I have had good experiences in the Greek islands but I would go for the more northerly ones in August as it is likely to be hot.

Of course! Never been in the summer but imagine it would be blistering.
