Hi I'm a white mother due to give birth to a mixed race baby girl soon. My partner is black and Caribbean.
Iam a hair stylist by trade and have only ever predominately styled Caucasian type hair. But have styled Indian and Afro hair previously in the past.
I have zero clue what my baby's hair type will be loose or tight curls etc but
I am trying to educate myself on how to treat my baby skin and hair when she is a newborn to baby as I am aware it needs her skin and hair will need extra moisture and protection.

My partner has said that nothin will be needed on her hair when she is newborn but her skin will need coconut oil or alternatives.
Any other suggestions welcome 🤗
Thankyou x

Congratulations,
I don't think you need to be preparing hair maintenance regimes for a newborn Babies have very soft baby hair, black and mixed race babies often have a very full head of black silky hair which can change over the course of two years.

You won't know their true hair texture till they are about 2 years old+ I have three mixed daughters under 5 and their hair types are all different. I used Johnson's baby shampoo till they are about 1 and then use a specialised kids shampoo and conditioner for curly hair weekly. I also went on Pinterest for some hairstyle ideas. That's what I did but of-course go with what you feel is best.

Congratulations. A couple of drops of baby oil on wet hair after it's been shampooed is fine. Shampoo twice a week and wet every other day.
