Affordable areas to buy in London

Hi,

We are looking to move and we would like to get a 4 bedroom house in a nice area in London (not central) but somewhere in Zone 5 or 6. Our budget is 600k. I don't drive, so ideally a place with good transport links.

I would like recommendations on areas that are nice, family friendly, with good reputation, and good commute within London. We are home bodies so we don't need a fancy high street or independent stores and coffee shops e.t.c.

Ideally, we are looking for a place with things to do for the little one and good primary schools as we have an almost 3 year old.

Bexley borough and adjacent probably meets your budget and travel requirements.

Where do you need to commute into?

Parts of enfield maybe? I'd look at en1 and en5

There are some good school options there and excellent parks playgrounds and free / cheap activities for children in enfield.
Transport links are good too

Thanks all for your suggestions so far.

My husband needs to commute to charing Cross. I should be starting a new job soon, so unsure on where I will need to commute too at this point as I can be posted anywhere in London but I'd prefer a place that has good transport links to central London.

To the eastern end of the district line or Elizabeth line you’ll find Romford, Hornchurch, Upminster - you’d have a lot of good schools. But it’s not the fastest commute. Actually, Romford is faster but less good on the school front.

Southbury station in Enfield into Charing Cross is 45m so would def consider Enfield
