Without googling, have you heard of Alice Wood?

I'm referring to a news story but I'd like to know if any of you have heard or seen the story in the news? Of course to know about it you will have come across it in the news, but I mean more so from front pages, prime time slots news output - that sort of thing.

Drove a car at her boyfriend? Yes.

Cismyfatarse · 25/01/2024 22:52

Sorry. Didn't see what board this was on. Saw it in active.

MCOut · 26/01/2024 00:36

When I saw your post, it didn’t ring a bell at all, but pp comment made me realise I had read it and talked about it with DP.

MCOut · 26/01/2024 00:39

I think it popped up in my Apple news, but I can’t remember how high up it was.

ChanelNo19EDT · 26/01/2024 00:56

No

Mybootsare · 26/01/2024 01:05

Nope!

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 26/01/2024 01:23

No

muggart · 26/01/2024 04:50

Yes it was front page of the telegraph a couple of times I think

LadyKenya · 26/01/2024 09:48

No, off to look it up.

LadyKenya · 26/01/2024 09:49

Oh just looked, and yes I had seen this recently, did not note the name though.

Goldwork · 26/01/2024 09:50

I didn't recall the name but on googling I had seen the story.

Cas112 · 26/01/2024 09:50

I had heard the story, just didn't know her name

Despicable human

LightDrizzle · 26/01/2024 09:51

No.

Username123343 · 26/01/2024 09:53

I hadn’t. Then I googled and yes, I saw this news a few weeks back but hadn’t retained her name.

LadyKenya · 26/01/2024 13:15

Why OP?

Starseeking · 26/01/2024 17:31

I knew of the story, but not of the names involved.

DojaPhat · 26/01/2024 20:13

Thank you for the responses!! I hadn't abandoned the thread - just got back from work.

The reason behind my question is because something has been playing on my mind quite a lot as of late when it comes to news stories which really permeate in ways others don't and how a lot of that comes down to the 'prime' slots' and then to question what makes a story 'prime'. I'm referring to something in a verry round about way mainly to avoid causing offence or at least until more has been established but lately it has been something I've been more conscious of when watching the usual news at 6 and so forth iyswim.

LadyKenya · 26/01/2024 20:58

🤔. Well, I for one am intrigued.

CinnabarRed · 26/01/2024 21:01

No. Missed this completely.

Krampers · 27/01/2024 05:57

I had heard this story before but yes I think it has been downplayed in the media and I can only guess why. Similar to the many who cannot fathom how Lucy Letbu can be responsible for murdering all those poor babies.

Orangeandgold · 29/01/2024 00:17

No not heard the story

LWSnow · 29/01/2024 00:25

without googling I think it's the story of the woman who murdered her boyfriend by deliberately running over him forwards and backwards. I discussed it with my husband.
I have just realised this is black mumsnetters, I'm white , I'm not aware of the ethnicity of the woman but assumed she and her boyfriend are both white.

2in13 · 03/02/2024 23:13

No

Backinthedress · 03/02/2024 23:17

Yes, but only because I saw a mumsnet thread on it a couple of days ago. I tend to avoid the news as a general rule.

Has something happened which would be of particular interest to the black mumsnetters board that doesn't seem.to have got much coverage or something? I am pretty sure both Alice and her fiance are/were white so can only assume there's a news story you're comparing it to?

Backinthedress · 03/02/2024 23:18

Shit. Sorry. Just waded in Cos I'm interested, but possibly you only wanted to know if black mumsnetters had heard of her. Apologies. Not black. Will bugger off. Should have engaged brain.
