Royal Family should apologise and pay slavery reparations

It’s past due for apologies and reparations from the royal family. They branded our ancestors with fucking crowns

LONDON — Thumbing through the tanned pages of centuries-old records in the basement of the British Library, Nicholas Radburn came across an illustration that took him aback.
A crown resembling the iconic St. Edward’s headpiece from British coronations sat atop the letters S and C, apparently a stylized reference to the slave-trading South Sea Company. The accompanying text, written in 1715, declared that this was “the Mark henceforward, to be put upon the Bodys of the Negros to be sold & Dipos’d of in the Spanish West Indies,” under a contract between Britain’s late Queen Anne and Spain’s King Philip V.
“It was striking,” said Radburn, a historian at Lancaster University, who discovered the illustration as part of a project to digitize the records of the South Sea Company and its monopoly over the trade of enslaved Africans to the Spanish-held Americas.

The best first move would be to make open, obvious and plain EXACTLY what, who, when, why and where with ALL evidence, artifacts, etc to back the above made available to all. A 24/7 channel not behind a pay wall would be a good start, as would an education overhaul. US history is important yet there is room for clear history such as OP's example. The youth may just listen when they are shown what they already know.
Our youths tend to see and know and then disrespect adults in general because they see adults subscribing/kowtowing to a lie and half truths.

I agree. It is hiding knowledge imho and this article is no exception- it is in a US newspaper and behind a pay wall. I am wondering why it wasn’t newsworthy enough for a U.K. paper to run? There seems to be active ignoring of U.K. history when it comes to the colonial slave trade.

The active ignoring is horribly by design. Like a hold of power. Who is to say the pendulum of power would swing once the truth of the past was laid bare? A more pleasant society would be more possible. It would do away with a fair amount of the racism and prejudice, simply because truth can be spoken. Not hate speech. And free will to dislike another or others need not be affected, as that is what it seems a lot of the hiding is about.
If the power transferred? Chances are a more pleasant, peaceful society would be had.
