Hello

I am thinking of moving to Canterbury from London for a better lifestyle, safety and good Schools for my child. Has anyone made the transition from London to Canterbury and felt welcome?

I am concerned with my child being the only black child in the school.

thank you in advance.

Hello! We moved to Canterbury from SE London a year ago and it feels like a very easy place to live for families. Parks, shops, facilities, close to the sea. Overall it’s not so racially diverse as London, but in the city primaries your child would not be the only black child in the school, or even in the class. you’d be likely to find less racial diversity in nearby village primaries. You can search for primary schools in the area here - https://webapps.kent.gov.uk/KCC.SchoolSearch.Web.Sites.Public/Default.aspx - and have a browse on the school websites or even give them a ring to see if you can visit.
