Black Women's experience of menopause - research project, survey from UCL

Afternoon all

There is a survey as part of a research project "Evaluation of how Black women learn about the menopause and their attitudes to the menopause". I'm not involved in the study, just saw a promoted Tweet and thought it would be of interest here (searched board, didn't find already hence posting).

"Are you a Black woman aged 40-70 years old? We want to hear about your views on #menopause. If you have 15 mins, please can you complete our totally anonymous online survey. Please share with your friends. Approval from UCL Ethics Committee ref: 9831/005.

Help researchers better understand menopause in Black Women. Complete this short survey if you are a Black woman over 40."

Contact details of the person organising the survey and the research project are in that link. UCL = University College London.

This was the promoted Tweet (beware some dim comments in replies to that Tweet).

Thank you for this. I will complete and share. Have you posted on the Menopause board as well.?

😩just been distracted by the Twitter responses - some people just can't accept that a black woman's experience might differ to white women.

Hi :) I've not posted it to the Menopause board because I thought that might be too wide, for the moment. The people behind the survey have previously run other menopause surveys and the majority of respondents were White women, so they've specifically opened this for Black women to try and get their input.

Ok that makes sense - I'm so pleased about this study. I would have liked to have sought advice from women of similar background and experiences to me rather than just plodding through and finding adhoc advice through friends and acquaintances.

I'm not sure if you have shared with

twitter.com/blackballaduk?s=11&t=7VpLQTzJD9lPDzUegjEEhg

But they publish topical and interesting articles
affecting African and Caribbean communities.
