What are your children dressing up as for book day? We always get stuck and DS in particular always ends up being an animal of some sort.

Would love some ideas for both boys and girls.

TIA!

Following for suggestions, but for adult female school staff!

Orchidflower1 · 16/02/2023 15:50

My neighbour has 4dc. Last year the oldest went as cruella de ville and her younger siblings went as Dalmatian’s. They looked so cute walking together.

HoollyWugger · 16/02/2023 15:55

I've been looking at some
Malorie Blackman characters - there's PigHeart Boy; Sephy from
noughts and crosses (secondary level), Rue from Hunger Games.

I'll keep thinking!

For little ones (or teachers of little ones), Lotta from Charlie and Lola?

evtheria · 16/02/2023 16:06
  • Fern or Charlotte (Charlotte's Web): braids, gingham top/dungarees and stuffed pig toy, or spider costume with a paper spiderweb incl words
  • Alice in Wonderland, you can go all out with a cardboard house costume or keep it simple with ribbon alice band and a blue dress, maybe a fake biscuit saying EAT ME
  • Harriet the Spy, yellow raincoat, magnifying glass, notebook (bonus point for tomato sandwich)
  • Miss Honey, with a box of chocolates
  • Will (His Dark Materials) with a ~glittery~ subtle knife and bandaged hand (this is obv dependent on how your school feels about fake weapons!)
  • a Hobbit
  • Mr Toad but as the washerwoman
  • the Little Prince

@HazyDragon - how old your DS?

My DS has dressed up as Peter Pan and Marshall from Paw Patrol in the past (not very imaginative I know, but the costumes were cheap and very last minute!). My DD dressed up as Amari (from Amari and the night brothers), which was easy as she already had the denim jacket, white t-shirt and jeans for the outfit.

It would be good to hear suggestions from others.

HazyDragon · 17/02/2023 16:52

Thank you for replies, he's 8. I think we are going for Marcus (Rashford) from the Breakfast Club Adventures, he just wears normal clothes but DS is excited about it!

DD I think has settled on being Miss Honey, last year she was Larka from Mega Monster.

That’s genius @Lndnmummy - love it.

Female teacher here not got a clue🤣

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 19/02/2023 06:47

Female teacher here. Going for wolf in granny's clothes. Mask and tail bought plus extra large nightie. Not going to do claws. Will do slippers. Easy one this year!

AdaColeman · 19/02/2023 07:02

Pippi Longstocking would be easy for a female teacher, hair in bunches, ankle boots, mismatched brightly coloured long socks, tunic style dress or long baggy jumper over short skirt or shorts. Google for inspiration!

Acunningruse · 19/02/2023 07:09

DD (6) is going as Ada Twist Scientist

KnottyKnitting · 19/02/2023 07:09

As a teacher I once dressed up as Worzel Gummage - one of my colleagues took a picture of me playing the piano wearing it! I doctored an old suit and hat- sewed straw into the sleeves and made a carrot nose!

Another time I went as Miss Wobble the waitress. ( Alan Ahlberg books are full of great dress up character ideas!)

Lndnmummy · 19/02/2023 22:28

Ah yes, Pippi Longstocking is perfect. You can use wire to make the plaits stick out. Works a treat.
@Orchidflower1 hi!! Thank you!

HazyDragon · 20/02/2023 16:37

Love the Mr Bump idea!
