Looks like we got our own version of the New York City hotel incident.

For those, particularly if you are white, who are going to defend her there is are enough media reports where she had a chance to speak up and defend herself so she clearly doesn't need your help.

Incensed is not adequate to describe how I felt when I read about this. Was I surprised by the conduct of the Police, absolutely not. They will not protect us, I have no trust in them.

Useranon1 · 09/05/2022 20:48

Woman admits to battering child, police so no possibility of conviction. Sure. Makes sense.

FridayiminlovewithRobertSmith · 10/05/2022 01:29

Who the fuck would do that to a child? Seriously! I just read the article. Are there people seriously sticking up for her? Seriously?!

emuloc · 10/05/2022 09:15

No doubt there will be people who will understand, and defend the fact that the poor women was of course feeling so threatened, and scared, that she would in a blind panic, strike the black boy, because... well you know!

RedWingBoots · 11/05/2022 04:15

Well going to the media has achieved something. Though I suspect Anne Longfield's report helped as well.

I saw this on Instagram! Disgusted as well that she used the old 'intimidating' line as well. It's absolutely disgusting

NippyWoowoo · 11/05/2022 19:12

It upsets me that it has to go viral on SM and get into the news before anything is done 🙄

motherofthelittlescreamingone · 11/05/2022 19:25

Appalling. I mean, sometimes teen/pre teen kids mess around and look a bit obnoxious, but they are usually pretty harmless and even if they cross a line you don't go over and assault them for it. Not to mention singling out the tall black kid for violence. Disgusting. Poor boy and his family.

No wonder the police are so mistrusted when they can't be bothered to protect kids from racist attacks

At least that's all they were expected to do this time.

Yes, sorry if that was phrased wrongly - obviously, the mistrust is also very much justified by the cases in which the police actually cause the harm too and not just fail to investigate it.

DropYourSword · 12/05/2022 09:15

That's terrible. And indefensible- why would anyone try and defend that!

RedWingBoots · 12/05/2022 19:12

@motherofthelittlescreamingone my bolding has gone weird. This isn't the only thread it has happened on.
