Mmm … Perhaps there’s a difference between being ‘buried’ and simply not receiving as much attention as might be expected in normal times?

The BBC News and The Guardian are two of my main news sources - so it would have been difficult to avoid either of those stories this week. And I think I saw each covered in at least one other mainstream paper and on Instagram.

which made the papers briefly. Hard to say if Francis Kerr would have received more airtime without pestilence, fuel poverty and European war.

Of the 575 chemistry professors in the UK, just one is black.

In the 15 years Robert Mokaya has been a professor at Nottingham university, he has had all his applications for funding for research projects turned down by Britain's main chemistry funding body, now called the UK Research and Innovation agency.

What a damned disgrace.
