Is that who he is.
I clicked on a twitter thread thinking it was the lead from Grays Anatomy. Looked the photo and it was not him.

Yes the post wad racist. No context needed.

wizzend · 04/03/2022 18:24

The ‘meme’ doesn’t even make any sense.

debbrianna · 04/03/2022 18:45

I doubt many white people will go to the rapper Chingy's concert who has not been famous for 15 + years now. Plus the n word it does not take a genius to put it together. The rona is a common terminology among black twitter for corona virus.

xfgdhfgnhkk007 · 04/03/2022 21:04

Glad I never buy anything from crappy Estee lauder.

Orchidflower1 · 04/03/2022 22:16

His pathetic apology is embarrassingly bad- saying “it’s the furthest from what I am”
Or some such waffle just makes it worse. Now he can add trite and patronising to the racist title!

RedWingBoots · 04/03/2022 22:18

Cosmetic companies are well-known for their racism.

They know black women as a demographic spend more on hair and make up but most can't be bothered to cater for us. Instead they buy out small indie brands and change the marketing.

SouthernFashionista · 02/04/2022 22:54

It’s not the John I know, that’s all I will say. And I’ve found Estée Lauder to be a fantastic advocate for the Black community.

TheBlackDarner · 02/04/2022 23:40

Well he's the "John" we all see as the author of that racist shit. I'm not really bothered if he holds car doors open for the laydees/ loves his granny.

And, with respect, I 'm pretty sure that Executive Chairman William Lauder and CEO Fabrizio Freda know him far better, and for longer.

Their statement said that Demsey's comments caused widespread offense, are damaging to our efforts to drive inclusivity both inside and outside our walls, and do not reflect the judgment we expect of our leaders

So off he was cleared, like old stock from the shelf. No tears from me. True colours shown, and dealt with by his employer. I'm sure he got a lovely golden handshake along with his P45.

(I'll still buy Clinique as I've done for more years than Demsey was in post.)

Starseeking · 03/04/2022 10:06

All of what @TheBlackDarner said.

Dairymilk50 · 08/04/2022 21:48

It's shocking. He clearly is that way to screenshot a meme that is racist and the audacity to post it. He got comfortable.

SouthernFashionista · 10/04/2022 19:48

I can only tell you what I know and it’s not who he is. He is a dear man, who has always supported Black women around him.

TheBlackDarner · 10/04/2022 20:41

SouthernFashionista
You are posting on Black Mumsnet. Do you realise this?

Elsewhere on MN you describe yourself as looking like Stephanie Seymour, some non black model from back in the nineties, along with talking about how privileged you are.

Look, big yourself up by all means, but it doesn't do much for us here on BMN. We're more of the Black don't Crack school of beauty.

You've been on this board twice now to give us your personal character reference for this sacked racist. He used the n word. He knows it's offensive. He thought he was untouchable. He wasn't
www.cosmeticsbusiness.com/news/article_page/John_Demsey_sacked_from_Estee_Lauder_over_n-word_repost/199130

No more excused for him.

We didn't sack him, Estee Lauder did. For good reason

GreyBeeplus3 · 11/02/2026 17:58

@Orchidflower1
