Please recommend a film we can watch this evening or over the weekend. Comedy or action is fine (not love story or documentary- or they will go to their rooms Smile) Netflix/ Prime / Disney. Thank you !

How old are they?

Lacedwithgrace · 31/12/2021 19:09

www.kidrated.com/blog/great-films-for-teenagers-and-older-kids/ If it's not on there, Hot Fuzz might suit older teens- a bit of language but nothing too strong.

Denzelstowel · 31/12/2021 19:16

13 and 15 - Thanks

Def place marking. All four of mine have slunk back to their rooms during Indiana Jones. DH is clearing the take away bits up and I’ve paused the TV to MN( and in case anyone returns to watch it with me!)

Bringonsummer19 · 31/12/2021 20:21

Do you have access to ‘king Richard’ really great

bloodyhellwhyme · 31/12/2021 20:38

@Bringonsummer19 I'd love to watch this, gutted i missed it in the cinema! Do you know where can you watch it online?

Bringonsummer19 · 31/12/2021 21:04

I watched it on Amazon prime. Not free unfortunately, I think £14.99 but cheaper than a night at the cinema

Neurodiversitydoctor · 31/12/2021 21:08

We really enjoyed Cruella and Radium girls with 15yo Dd recently.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 31/12/2021 21:09

Is there a reason this is in black mumsnetters ?

Neurodiversitydoctor · 31/12/2021 21:11

We also loved the courier

roundtable · 31/12/2021 21:22

Just watched Nappily Ever After during the Christmas holidays. The hair and her journey with it really resonated. Plus it had a few laughs.

Lipsandlashes · 31/12/2021 21:23

We really loved Free Guy on Disney Plus

Denzelstowel · 31/12/2021 21:28

Yes - because I wanted recommendations from black MN - and more likely to get it on this board- but anyone can contribute . HTH

I don't but this is one I wanted to watch anyway so - I might pay for this on Prime. Also got a kind of a groan from the DC so I think this might work.

You’re probably well into your movie by now but for other times during the holiday I would recommend King Richard if you didn’t choose it tonight.
For that age I’d also recommend Cruella, Black Panther.
Recently saw Promising Young Woman (might be a 15 rating though) which was very good.
Watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind tonight with my 18 yo and we really enjoyed it - perhaps keep these last 2 in the pocket if you’re having some time with just your 15 yo.

Xigris · 31/12/2021 22:58

I have 3 DC aged 15, 13 and 11. Here are some of the ones we’ve liked over the last year or so…….

Hidden Figures - my lot really liked this. I wasn’t sure that they would, I thought they’d think it was a bit “nerdy” but it was great.
Encanto - even my cynical 15 year old enjoyed this
Paul - hilarious but the language is pretty explicit. Sooooo funny though (only my 15 year old has watched this)
Big Fish - I loved this film.

In terms of recent series the older two loved Raising Dion.

Orchidflower1 · 31/12/2021 23:36

Hidden figures is fab- seen it several times.

Yes @Xigris I’d like to watch encanto.

Nobody came to watch Indiana Jones 🥲 but I’ve just wiped the floor with the rest of orchid house at ludo!!

Sunshineandrainbow · 31/12/2021 23:38

Mine liked click and collect on netflix.

bloodyhellwhyme · 31/12/2021 23:46

Cheers @Bringonsummer19 I didnt know it was on Prime!!

Neurodiversitydoctor · 01/01/2022 07:39

Blackklansman is great too.

nicesausages · 01/01/2022 07:55

Mine both enjoyed The Kingsman

Denzelstowel · 01/01/2022 19:01

Thanks all - We watched King Richard and it was brilliant - Will was very good at playing Richard Williams. I will work through the rest of the suggestions as time goes on.

Ahhh glad you liked it.

Denzelstowel · 02/01/2022 20:52

I also watched Papillon - which was very good. based on a true story. But advisory on some violent parts not recommended for teens.
