Black Mumsnetters
Active black and/or Caribbean societies in London or South East

Hi there
My sister is looking to get more involved associations that are invested in supported Caribbean culture in the UK, are involved in charitable work in Caribbean and / or are just very black focused. She wants to volunteer and get involved really.
Does anyone know of any? I remember there were some organisations that were really energised by the 2012 Olympics, there was the Jamaican hut in the village etc. She'd love that sort of thing but today's version.
Let me know?

Perhaps, rather than generic ‘Caribbean culture’, it might be better to consider any particular interest or skills she has and consider where they might best be applied. So, local:
Legal centres
Theatres
Museums
Art galleries
Adult education
Crafts centres
Community gardening projects
Schemes that fund and organise holidays for ill, incapacitated or financially deprived children.
Any or all of these might be run by, prioritise, or involve people of Caribbean heritage. Don’t know if this is the sort of thing you meant but it’s a more contemporary way of doing charitable work.

I tried looking into this, I am a Rotarian and wanted to focus on black causes. Unfortunately non of the organisations I reached out to responded back to me.

It is an events organiser but you can attend an event to meet the Caribbean community and take it from there
