Iffy Tradesmen

So having Dh and I have decide to have some work done on the house, and as usual it involves getting people in to quote and do work.
I always pray that, no one with bad intentions should even hear the phone ringing when i try to call to ask about prices. Let alone should they come anywhere near my home.

Had some work men out to move some radiators, they arrived promptly and rang the RING door bell. I have 5 of these scattered around the house.

I opened the door to them. Now i don't think it can just be me, who gets a feeling on first glance/ impression, eye to eye , that you know that this person infront of you likely harbors ill feeling towards you without knowing you or having met you. ( you know what i mean)

Anyway such intuition was confirmed on my RING cameras, as i was able to hear there conversations when i wasn't there.

Of course i confronted them about their rude and racist comments and was met with profuse apology with the Plummer blaming his apprentices ADHD.

I felt good, seeing these brave closet racists cower when push came to shove.

Just asking if anyone else has experienced such or any similar incidences.

I don't have randoms I know nothing about doing work at our house.
I've only had one incident as you describe. and that was a few years ago now. I complained to their accrediting body and it was dealt with.

I hope that you didn't give them the work, if they carry on like tha.t it doesn't say much for what the standard of work will be like.

I think it's general good sense to use accredited trades people.
Our plumber we've used for years, and came on the recommendation of an electrician we know. Neither of them have ever carried on like that, and they are no shrinking violets.

Check out the trades before you book them, recommendations, accreditation references, Tustpilot that sort of thing.
