He is right the Lammy report hadn't been delivered on as a cross body Parliamentary committee concluded that in November 2020.

This report has done nothing but fuel the entitled “I’m not racist but.....” brigade. It’s harrowing, we are not moving forward one bit. Nothing changes, not really. I look at my children and my heart is breaking at the realisation that it’s not going to be better for them.

It will get better.

We are currently on the two steps back before we start stepping forward again.

@RedMarauder

I thought there would be a thread on this.

One of the most gaslighting things is that they said the term "BAME" shouldn't be used, but when they talk about income disparities they use the term "BAME" to hide the disparities that some ethnic groups face over others.....

Brilliant response from David Olusoga:

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/apr/02/sewell-race-report-historical-young-people-britain

The commission themselves have responded and said' that's not what we meant'. Ermmm, proofread??

And now another expert condemning the report - www.theguardian.com/world/2021/apr/07/uk-public-health-expert-michael-marmot-criticises-no-10-race-report-shortcomings

CovidCorvid · 08/04/2021 06:48

It’s a total joke. I did my dissertation (some years ago admittedly) on racism in the criminal justice system. The stats don’t lie and totally back up the claim that there’s racism in the criminal justice system. I’m at a loss to understand how this report can say otherwise.

The Home Office is at it again.

They signed an agreement with the Equality and Human Rights Commission that they would look at the impact of any policy and law on ethnic minorities a day after that dreadful report came out to stop another Windrush but still they won't stop -

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/apr/11/new-windrush-is-in-making-its-victims-are-the-most-vulnerable-of-young-people

DastardlytheFriendlyMutt · 11/04/2021 11:36

The Home Office is always at it. I'm not remotely surprised. A lot of this has been happening for years to non-EU immigrants, the selective application of their rights, long expensive visa routes, denying children British citizenship, splitting up familie and saying they can parent remotely or meet in a mutual 3rd country, income restrictions, denying applications because of a school fight at age 10 and thereby failing the good character test, excluding people entitled to benefits from help, a two-tier system for British children with a non-EU parent and making it difficult for them to access anything they are entitled to, but people are only aware (and care) now as it has started to affect EU citizens. No matter what the HO promises they will continue down their path of making it as difficult as possible for anyone to stay here.

I can’t believe the BAME members of the Tory party are standing behind this piece of trash report.

I can.

They have clearly been taking lessons from their former leader about how to have no morals so you can line your own pocket.

Newstaronhorizon · 15/04/2021 03:39

Where is a good place to live of it's rubbish for black people here? I think there should be a rating system where different countries are compared. Black people deserve the best that life can offer so it might be a good idea to work with the system rather than against it and get even more alienated from it, no?

Which country/ place is ideal and does not have institutional racism? Why would countries like Japan, Russia and China be institutionally racist when they don't have a colonial history of oppression in black countries? It makes absolutely no sense.
