Morning Ladies - last day at work today - Yippee!!!

Welcome to Daisydot and K7

No news from Bubbles and Zoe yet - wonder if this means that September babes 2 and 3 have landed?

Right, had better go and start doing last day things....

bubbles2904 · 23/08/2005 10:04

morning everyone, no kf, i'm still here. baby can't come today as it's the 7 year anniversary of my grandads death so i really don't want everyone to remember my babys birthday because of that reason, i know it sounds silly though.
am feeling tired still, i couldn't get to sleep again last night. tossed and turned half of the night, woke up on my right side and felt guilty so tried on my left but couldn't settle. never mind, 3 weeks and 4 days worst case scenario.
have a nice last day at work kf, hope you get lots of nice pressies xxx

bubbles2904 · 23/08/2005 10:05

oops, sorry, a big welcome to our new ladies xxx

diane77 · 23/08/2005 10:08

hi all

im getting a little scared of planned c-section for monday, ive to go for pre op check friday when i will find out all the details. im worried about what if the baby turns do they cancel everything? Got all my plans in place for dd! Spending the day packing her bag for when she goes to stay at her grans.

jessysmummy · 23/08/2005 10:08

Morning all!
2 days left at work and I know that they are really going to drag as I have very little to do...
Welcome to all the new girls!
Sarahhal - I'm with you on the "wait and see" front. Haven't ruled out anything this time round (except pethidine) and will just see how it goes.
Anyway, hoping the thread is going to be busy today as it looks like I'll be spending most of my day on here!

bubbles2904 · 23/08/2005 10:23

me too jessysmummy, got nothing else planned at all for today. i had pethidine with dd, and when she was born she was fine, not even a little groggy, but they gave it to me earlier on. i'm trying to keep a open mind about it all really as we never know how things are going to happen.
wow diane, not long now, maybe you'll produce number 2?????

andif · 23/08/2005 10:27

Welcome to K7 and Daisydot. Daisy - I'm due on 15th Sept at Kingston so may see you there!!! I wanted to go into the active birth unit too, but can't as I'm strep B positive. Having said that, I know loads of people who have ended up in there as the rest of it was too busy, so will wait and see... Do you know if the building work has finished there yet - I know it was due for end Aug, but have visions of giving birth surrounded by workmen....
Back a bit better today, but had a bit of spotting last night - could it have been a show? Doubt it, more likely to do with cervical erosion, thrush or overdoing it.. sorry if that's TMI!!
Friend visiting tomorrow with her 4 kids so half-heartedly tidying up today, ready for it all to be wrecked tomorrow!!

andif · 23/08/2005 10:30

Just got dates for antenatal refresher course in post - 4 weeks starting on 5 sept - are they having a laugh!!?
Whoever it was worried about STM, I think she said she was camping (?!!!!!!) this week....

bubbles2904 · 23/08/2005 10:47

thanks andif, it was me that was a little worried. i worry about everyone after a few days, got nothing better to do these days.
have you been checked out about the spotting?

jessysmummy · 23/08/2005 11:13

Yes, andif, have you had the spotting checked?
Bubbles - I had pethidine with dd too and she was ok but don't think it was a very informed decision so want to try to avoid this time.
Anyone heard anything of RedZuleika, don't think she's posted in a while? Are you out there RZ? Hope all OK.

Kiwifruit · 23/08/2005 11:14

Wow Diane - Monday!! Hope you're all organised... Do you know if you're having a boy or a girl?? Best you train your DH up on Mumsnet so he can come and post us a message...

Andif - are you going to get the spotting checked? I had a little bit last week, and the Day Assessment Unit insisted that I went in to get it checked.

Just went to my last meeting...

Rhumba · 23/08/2005 11:15

morning, haven't postd for ages. Still working but finishing next wednesday. Ended up having to go all the way to Wrexham for work on friday which was ehausting and wasn't so comfortable on the train. Am now despartly trying to get all my reports out in the next 2 weeks even though they usually take double that time! working from home (ha)today as have to see the midwife at lunch time.

feeling sad as just heard a friend who was preganant had an ectopic and hasn't been very well. She had IVF and has now decided not to try again (already has one). Sounds naff but does put all the aches, sickness and general discomforts into prospective.

Had my 32 week scan a couple of weeks ago and all was well. Placenta not low anymore and baby's weight was in mid-range for dates rather than bottom.

Can't wait to start mat leave but won't be able to if I don't get these reports finished!

jessysmummy · 23/08/2005 11:19

KF - did you manage to sit through the meeting without a smug "this-may-be-an-important-issue-but-i'm-not-going-to-be-around-to-have-to-deal-with-it-so-there!" look on your face? I'm having real difficulty not gloating to my colleagues - in the nicest possible way ofcourse!

andif · 23/08/2005 11:25

Maybe I'm getting blase now I'm on no.3, but not too worried about the spotting. Had it at 8 wks and 20 wks(quite badly) and they put it down to cervical erosion, said it could happen again and to come back if it got heavy. Baby is moving well and I'm going to the GP this afternoon anyway. All my local friends are away this week and dh has some important meetings today so the thought of taking 2 little boys with me to the hospital is horrendous - could bring on huge rise in blood pressure Now you've all got me thinking though.. should I summon my parents...should I call the hospital just in case...aagghh...what to do?

Redhelen · 23/08/2005 11:30

diane77

Thinking of you - its scary and exciting - the count down till Monday. But I'm quite certain (after the first 2 days) you will be pleasently surprized by how good you feel. I really would have no problems in having another - the real pig is not being able to drive for 6 weeks - might be worth a call to your insurance company??
Sending you a vertial big hug xxx

Kiwifruit · 23/08/2005 11:31

Andif - I would tell your GP about it, hopefully it's just the cervical erosion again??

Jessysmummy - tried very hard to keep my grinning under control . I nearly didn't go to the meeting as figured I wouldn't have much to add, then ended up being the main contributor - me and my big mouth!! Going out to lunch in 1/2 an hour - my manager is taking our team out, which is nice. And one of the Swiss consultants has just bought me what we fondly refer to as 'Chocolates from God' - the most divine chocolates, only available from Swiss Duty Free. All the girls in the office are sitting with blissful grins on their faces (the boys don't really get it...)

Sallie · 23/08/2005 13:40

Yet again have had very little time to read this thread but hope everyone is ok and not feeling too uncomfortable. My rib pain is getting on my nerves and have a little heartburn but not all the time as I had with ds and dd. Feeling less tired now and have more energy to go out with the kids to do things as well as doing some cleaning. This baby can't come early though as have no time to decorate the nursery until next week when dh has some annual leave. Still, shouldn't take long as we have already stripped the wallpaper off and its not a big room by any means!
Still slightly scared about the whole group b strep thing. Have a consultants appointment next week (at just over 38 weeks) when he will examine me and we will decide on the strategy. The midwives are delivering a home birth kit this afternoon, just in case we don't make it to the hospital on time. Nearly have the bag for me and the baby packed although tend to leave putting some normal clothes in until the last minute. DS is starting pre-school a week on Monday so am needing to spend some time with him preparing for that. Its all go!

beatie · 23/08/2005 13:57

This post just moves too quickly. I can't keep up. Apologies for not doing any personals but I have read every one of your posts

Well, I feel as though I had the baby overnight and didn't realise. My nether regions are so swollen and sore Anyone else feeling THAT much pressure? I've had a bag of ice between my legs. It's all fun and games in my household. No visitors today please

I took DD out yesterday to a farm/countrypark with two friends and their children. Whilst I didn't think I overdid it, I obviously did and it was too much walking and standing for me. I expected the pain in my legs but not the swelling and pain between my legs.

I WISH I knew when this baby was going to come. I'm fairly anxious about it. September 9th is worst timing for me as DH returns to work on Sept 8th for new school term. He has had a promotion and part of his role is to mentor and induct (is that a word) new staff. It's not going to go down well at his school if I have the baby anytime after that date.

Next Monday would be my ideal. My mum is still on school holidays to look after DD and my DH would still have 10 days left of hols so would not have to piss anyone off. Oh yes, and DD starts pre-school on Sept 6th. It would be nice to not have that disrupted.

Hmmm - perhaps I should have a word with the baby and let him/her know they are summoned early.

mummyhill · 23/08/2005 14:00

Welcome back Rhumba good luck with all those reports.

DD has just come back from a morning out with her aunty. Went out with just the clothes on her back and a few wipes in a plastic container just in case and has come back minus container but with new trousers, beads, bangles, remanats of a mcdonalds and a big bag of sweeties!!!!!!

I have been trying to tidy the living room then will do the bathroom and kitchen tomorrow and hopefully the bedrooms thursday/friday as I have the midwife comming out to do my antenatal on Monday. Will see if she has a cuppa and will make sure I put out clean towels etc!!!!!

PiccadillyCircus · 23/08/2005 14:03

I want this baby to come out. I have decided I have had enough of being pregnant (although this does not mean I am ready either practically or mentally).

Although I do have a mattress protector protecting the mattress and also some attractive nursing bras. The excitement that this usually B cup person has in being told they need a D cup is enjoyable.

DS got an invitation to a birthday party on DD/DS2's due date. Probably it is unlikely it will come that day anyway, so maybe I will be there big and fat, or with a little baby as well.

I think I am starting to waffle on now - hope everyone else is feeling OK (not going to suggest any of us feel at our best ). I am hoping that tomorrow at the mw, this baby will be head down but not counting on it.

beatie · 23/08/2005 14:10

I'm just wondering if I could have a UTI. Would that cause swelling down below? Passing urine is a little painful but that could be due to the swelling?

Who do I see if I suspect a UTI? Do I have to see a doctor or can I just drop a smaple with a Practice nurse?

Katts · 23/08/2005 15:20

Beatie, could it be a vericose vein down there? Probably worth getting checked out. I'm pretty tender too but not swollen. Sounds miserable for you though

sarahhal · 23/08/2005 16:56

Have just posted this on the childbirth thread if any September-ers have any ideas!

Redhelen · 23/08/2005 17:37

Just made the mistake of venturing into the town to 'pick up last bits' (matress protector, baby massage sunflower oil, and x-powder for cord (as Bedford hospital no longer supply it) came home with only matress protector and everything aches!!
after today until 22nd September our babies will be Virgos - never ever met a Virgo I didn't like!!

beatie - feel like I have someone elses never regions too (you should get checked out) Mine don't hurt - but they are definately not mine!
