jessysmummy · 19/08/2005 21:45

Hi - just been catching up on the busy day you ladies have been having! Am absolutely shattered after long day with very fractious DD. So won't make a big post for a change!
Just wanted to say - OMG how exciting Bubbles...this could be it!
And sorry to hear that some of you have had enough of the pregnancy thing - I have days like that too - it'll all be worth it in the end, whenever that may be.
Night night all.

mummyhill · 19/08/2005 22:14

Bubbles (((hugs))) and positive thoughts winging their way to you via the power of mumsnet. Good luck and keep us posted.

ZoeZebra - We are both due approx same time on no2 and beans are both at same stage of engagement so it can't be that unusual, my midwife and the Registrar I saw today were really happy with my progress and have said that I should be fine for a normal delivery as baba is in correct position and orthapeadic team haven't come back with any objections, also thyroid levels are smack bang in the middle of the range still. yipee don't have to go to hospital now till I go into labour or have gone a weeks over. Am seeing community midwife a week on Monday.

Redhelen · 19/08/2005 22:32

Night night everyone - take care bubbles!

LadyLazarus · 19/08/2005 23:54

I went to bed at 10pm but still can't sleep! Hardly had any sleep last night, aargh, feeling a smidge fed up now!

Glad to hear you're still ok Bubbles. What type of pains were they? were they regular and stuff?

mummyhill · 20/08/2005 09:09

Went to bed at 10.30 last night and was still staring at the clock at 12 managed to doze off about halfpast and woke up at 3 and 5 to go to the loo and was woken up at 7 by dd to play and stuff (Bless).

We are going down to Bristol today will be stopping off at every set of services on the way as my bladder isn't strong enough at the moment. Have put my bag and bumps stuff in the car just in case, if anything happens we are determined to make it home in time to give birth at our local hospital though as Bristol is a bit far to commute for baby visits!!!!! But I refuse to miss my best friends son's 4th Birthday as dd has been looking forward to seeing them all sooo much.

moschops · 20/08/2005 10:12

haven't got time to read through the thread.....just popping in to say hi and hope everyone is well.

i am very tired, now combining bottle and breastfeeding to help me cope with it. its so much easier to deal with midnight feeds when i can hand over to dp and a bottle if i really am shattered.

haven't been near the computer in days!!!!

bubbles2904 · 20/08/2005 10:12

Morning everyone, i'm still here and hanging on. had a lovely sleep last night, although i am still getting a few pains but some movement from baby so i know all is well. i'm guessing that it was a false alarm as i'm sure the baby would've been here by now. don't feel well at all though so am just going to rest all day i think.

Redhelen · 20/08/2005 10:20

Hello moschops - take it easy (when you can!!)xx

Redhelen · 20/08/2005 10:21

bubbles

Have a relaxing day - hope your not looking after other peoples children today!! Keep us informed! xx

bubbles2904 · 20/08/2005 10:26

no it's just me and dp today redhelen. lol

zubb · 20/08/2005 10:38

moschops - its difficult, but try to get as much rest as possible, and take as much help as you can.

Bubbles - hope the pain eases after a good rest.

Dh has taken ds1 and 2 out for the day, in theory it's meant to give me a rest but in practice I have work to do still, the house to tidy and shopping to do as my parents are coming to stay tonight. Will start it all soon - going to have a bath first I think, and try to shave my legs!

On the bright side I got the letter confirming my maternity allowance is approved, its a whole £6 more per week than when I had ds2! Finances aren't great at the moment as the extension / new kitchen etc are hitting at the same time as I take time off, so every little bit will help.

milward · 20/08/2005 13:21

Hello moschops - it's tough being a new mum. Just go with it. Be kind to yourself xxx

Redhelen · 20/08/2005 14:32

oh ouch - think babies head is starting to move down - cant sit down feels really uncomfortable- very strange!

mummyhill · 21/08/2005 09:58

Had a lovely day in Bristol yesterday. Got home at 11 last night and went straight to bed and slept really well for the first time in ages. Was woken up for a cuddle with dd at 7 this morning.

MOSCHOPS - Try and take it easy (eassier said than done I know). Don't turn down any offers of help and give Lemuel a big hug from all of us.

BUBBLES - ((hugs)) If you still feel under the weather give your maternity unit a ring or get thee down to the GP in the morning and get yourself checked over.

I am feeling drained, weepy and really irrlitable and if one more person makes a comment on when this little angel will arrive/should arrive I think I shall scream. DH is being really understanding, found me sobbing in the kitchen and gave me hug which was great till he said not to worry as it wasn't going to be much longer at which point a hit him, then appologised most profuseley. I don't think he knew quite what to do with me at that point!!!!

pooka · 21/08/2005 14:14

I feel sorry for my dh too at the moment. I'm like a mad cleaning woman who complains when told to stop, but complains while washing down woodwork on all doors and painting the hall and all those other ohso essential tasks. He can't win. I just find that it's so difficult to get anything done when I've got dd, that when dh is around, I leave them to it, which of course means he can;t do all the things I then get on with.
Was 38 weeks yesterday, midwife coming for home antenatal check tomorrow (another reason for mad cleaning). Builders here again next week, which is nice in some respects because I actually really like them and having people around, but they don't half leave mess around!

mummyhill · 21/08/2005 19:54

Wish I had the energy to do the housework at the moment, just keep falling asleep.

milward · 21/08/2005 23:22

Hello All - tired out as well. Don't feel like housework! One & half weeks of school hols to go - almost on my knees but coping. Have to get school shoes for my three kids this week - loads of fun!!! Have been feeling really warm today - anyone else like this? Not that the sun is shining here.

KiwiKate · 22/08/2005 03:43

Am the opposite here, Milward. FREEZING (but then it is just past winter in New Zealand). Have come down with dreadful 'flu, and now have the chills! Have given up all pretense of trying to do any work today (house work, or other).

MW called today (I'm 37wks tomorrow). Happy with baby's size, but baby is still posterior (now LOP, rather than ROP, which apparently is the worst head-down position for birth). Will continue those optimal fetal positioning exercises, but have decided not to stress. I know that second babies especially tend to right themselves, sometimes just before the birth. Anyway, got no energy to stress.

PiccadillyCircus · 22/08/2005 08:27

Raining here today (lovely and sunny yesterday though). I am trying to organise myself today - having a haircut, getting measured for nursing bra. Really should get DS2/DD's room a bit more sorted but I think it will be staying unsorted for a little while longer .

I have been having premonitions that this baby will be born next Saturday. Hopefully incorrect premonitions as I don't think I would be ready at all. It also still feels like it's breech to me (although will find out at midwife on Wednesday).

PiccadillyCircus · 22/08/2005 08:47

And also will get a mattress protector after having read beatie's thread on the subject. Really do not want to ruin our lovely comfy mattress .

LadyLazarus · 22/08/2005 09:10

Morning all! For the past four days I have been having a funny 'stabbing' / sharp pain really low down, sort of at top of hair line I suppose, and sometimes going into bottom. Feels like a constipationy type of pain, but I'm not particularly constipated (sorry if tmi!). Could it just be the baby moving down or lying on a bit of my bowel or something? It really is very painful! Had it last night and still have it this morning, nothing seems to ease it really

pooka · 22/08/2005 09:30

I really thought it was all kicking off last night! Had contraction like cramps (i.e. Braxton Hicks with period pains) every 15 minutes or so from 2 until 7am. And then nothing! Still feel a bit tender and a bit tired, but whatever was happening has stopped. Just thankful that after a 72 hour plus lead up to dd's birth I'm a bit more laid back - i.e. was only partially aware of what was happening, kept on sleeping and didn't start marching up and down stairs and bouncing on birthing ball like last time (waste of energy that was).
It all followed an evening of frenetic activity from baby - really completely rampant. So who knows?? Midwife coming today - so a morning waiting inside awaits. How to amuse dd?? It's raining so can't even play in the garden.
Lady L - know what you mean about those pains. Think it relates to the baby squeezing head down - feels like it's trying to headbut/squirm it's way out????

LadyLazarus · 22/08/2005 09:41

Wow Pooka! Might not be long for you now then?! I still find it strange that contractions can come as regular as that and then just 'disappear' without a trace! The whole pregnancy thing is very odd sometimes! Yes those pains do feel a bit like the baby is trying to squeeze her way out! Still have it now, very uncomfortable, esp. when stand up or move around. Good luck with midwife!
