Right, I've done the honours. This is our new thread.

And don't forget the stats thread

Good luck today Chooster and with the Amnio. Not sure if it helps but mine really was pain free and I am now almost 2 weeks post Amnio and no bad signs so far. I just tried to stay as relaxed as possible and not look!

I am 18 weeks today and feeling faint pops in my abdomen occasionally so think this may be the baby but still not convinced... could it be wind?

I have ahd 2 bowls of All-bran in the last 36 hours and am still waiting for it to work its magic! Bah!

CherylAnnTweedy · 12/07/2010 15:10

Ugh so so tired. Struggling to keep my eyes open. DP was not well over the weekend, luckily it was confined to him. I nearly passed out again on Sat while we were out. I've been so spoilt with 2 easy pregnancies that I'm finding this one quite difficult & ot being able to do normal things without feeling faint or total exhaustion is hard.

I have xp's horrible children back, still going to be a few days until I get my nice boys back. I wish they didn't have to go, and while they do have to that it didn't affect them so badly.

I'll catch up later with you all. Hope amnio goes well for you Chooster.

aimee0211 · 12/07/2010 15:14

Hey hope everyone has had a good weekend

Fingers crossed for Chooster, you will have to let us know what exactly happens at the 20 week scan as your the first, mine is on Thursday and I'm getting that nervousness back like I was before the last one.

Slightly Tired I have had lower back pain on and off since I was about 8 weeks, sometimes it's really bad but usually bareable lol, do you think cushion between the knees would help? May have to give that a try.

Ok, I am freaking out a little bit now because I am a complete Google fanatic and so I google everything...I have been having tightenings in my bump a few times a day for like a week now, so after Googling this morning it's looking like it could be Braxton Hicks I thought these were only late in pregnancy but the more I looked into it the more it sounded right.

I guess I'm freaking out because everything in this pregnancy seems to be happening earlier than what the books and websites say, especially for first pregnancy, eg) first feeling baby flutters at 14 weeks, boobs leaking at 18 weeks (although that hasn't happened again since) and now Braxton Hicks at 19 weeks - what next?! lol

aimee0211 · 12/07/2010 15:15

P.S is it maybe time for a new thread? Would do it myself but am crap at thinking of a thread name lol

Strix · 12/07/2010 16:15

Hello. I'm sorry I have very neglectful and haven't kept up with the thread. I see imissed a GF debate. I actually like her, but ONLY if you don't take it all too seriously. I think the key for me is routine (a set sequence of activities) much more than the timings of the schedule. So, say a 12 month old does not have the language skill to understand if you say "So, baby, we are going to have som milk, chilld out for 3 minutes, then bath andbed time for you." But, if every night, you feed, chill, bath, and then put him/her into the cot it won't be long before siad baby tweeks that bedtime always follow bathtime. And I think they like knowing what's going on rather than to just be suddenly thrown into bed when they don't expect it.

And i tink there was talk of waxing people's lady gardens. OUCH!!!! I get my eyebrows done and there is no way I would ever let anyone down there. I will however do a quick shave on the top inch or so so I don't get dry shaven and razor burn across where the scar is going to be post delivery.

So, have other people been doing the name debate? My DD wants to name the baby "Tom" after her teachers son, on whom I believe she has a big crush. She is 7. It's not going to happen.

DuelingFanjo · 12/07/2010 16:29

aimee it could just be stretching pains as your bump/baby gets bigger. Hope it's not too painful. I have been waking up with a bad back most mornings, not sure if it's the way I am sleeping.

Strix I'm with youon the waxing - ouch ouch ouch. I know someone who has her armpits done .

RE names, me and my DH have such different taste in names but we seem to have settled on a name for a boy which is mostly his choice so I am hoping if it's a girl he will agree to my slightly un-conventional girls name!

CherylAnnTweedy · 12/07/2010 16:31

I've never had braxton hicks with either pregnancy so I have no idea what they feel like aimee.

Strix - DP & I have come up with a few names. Girls name is definite. Boys name is a probably with definite middle name. ds1 just comes up with all his friends names (admittedly an improvement from his suggestion for ds2 which was Pillow!), ds2 hasn't really suggested any yet, but I'm sure they'll be named after Power Rangers or something.

Right time to cook dinner before I finally fall asleep. [tired emoticon]

CherylAnnTweedy · 12/07/2010 16:35

Re waxing, apparently armpits are very painful, so I can live with shaving there, but everyhting else just has to be waxed or epilated. Well except for my face, I had my eyebrows waxed once and hated it, so I stick to threading and you get such a better shape. I just can't wait 'til Jan when i can start it all again. I think DP will be kicking me out the door then as all he hears is me moaning about shaving.

CherylAnnTweedy · 12/07/2010 16:55

Me again! Something I meant to ask about before and forgot. Does anyone else have a really hairy belly? Fortunately it's not dark, but my belly is covered and it's quite long .

Strix · 12/07/2010 17:20

Nope. No hairy belly here. (thankfully)

But, I would happily trade you a hairy belly for the headaches.

Chooster · 12/07/2010 17:32

No belly hair here but I am having what I think are braxton hicks. Its the same tightening feeling I had much later in pregnancy with the boys but earlier this time. Dont worry Aimee! How are you feeling these days about being pregnant?

Thanks for the good wishes on the anmio, which went fine. We started off with the detailed scan which was amazing to see and took about 25 mins, although some of this was trying to persuade the baby to shift so she could see the spine. You'll find it so fascinating Aimee and any other first timers as they show you all the different parts of the brain and heart and you get to see all the bits in much more detail, like thigh bone, spine etc... Thankfully as was well and there was an apparent willy so its boy number 3 for me I think .

Amnio was after and it was fine, a little bit of pressure and the baby moved nicely away so there were no issues. Hopefully it will all be OK - really hope so. Great to hear you are having no after effects DF

Chooster · 12/07/2010 17:35

Oh and yes, I already put a pillow between my thighs / knees to sleep, so much more comfortable....

aimee0211 · 12/07/2010 17:56

Awww Chooster 3 boys Glad your scan and amnio went well, I'm glad you told me about the scan as now I'm more excited than nervous lol

These days I'm not feeling too bad, still have my days where I'm completely overwhelmed and think how the hell am I going to cope but then I just think it's a case of I will have to, there will be no room for me not to cope so just have to get on with things rather than focusing on the negative.

I'm slowly trying to tell the rest of the people in my life that I'm having a baby, all my close friends know already and most of my family, just have to tell the rest. I just hate the whole 'I'm pregnant' thing, and the whole judging part that comes with being pregnant in my circumstances - everyone is going to have an opinion and that's fine just would rather they didn't say it to me. Sorry I'm ranting away lol

CherylAnnTweedy · 12/07/2010 18:04

Aimee you seem to have your head screwed on very firmly, it's not for others to judge, so try not to take it to heart when they do. Easier said than done I know.

Chooster - glad your appointment went well. I have my 20wk scan next Monday and very excited as although this is my 3rd they've only recently started doing detailed scans, so it's all going to be very new to me too.

Strix - I'll pass on that one thanks. I'm getting neadaches quite frequently myslef, but they seem to be linked to my hayfever so as long as I keep topped up on anti-histamines I seem to be able to keep them at bay. 1 person in the house with migraines is enough, goodness only knows what the boys would get up to if I had them like DP gets them too.

DuelingFanjo · 12/07/2010 18:15

Cheryl How weird, about the hairy belly. I was about to ask the same. It's not really really hairy but I have noticed it's more hairy than it used to be!

chooster glad the scan went so well and that the baby moved away for the Amnio. Keeping fingers crossed for a good result.

aimee I feel the same about the whole telling about the pregnancy thing though I did manage to tell someone today without blushing! I hate drawing attention to myself.

japhrimel · 12/07/2010 19:13

Cheryl - yes! I've noticed that my body hair all over seems longer than normal. I'm trying to ignore it as I find it quite icky.

SlightlyTired - I have to sleep with my side pillow or I get backache from the bump pulling my lower back forwards when I lie on my side. The pillow definitely helps.

aimee & DuelingFanjo - I'm not great at telling people I'm pregnant either! Like DF I hate the attention. I've got a few things coming up where I'm going to be seeing loads of people (normally work from home so don't see many people!) and I'm not looking forward to the comments and attention.

Strix · 12/07/2010 20:00

I believe there is a surge of protein in pregnancy that contributes to hair and nail growth. But, don't get used to it, because it falls out after. I just don't get mine on my belly.

CherylAnnTweedy · 12/07/2010 20:58

Argh! I'm trying to find a moses basket stand. We've been given one, but it's really low. None of them online have a height on them and looking at pics of ones on ebay they all look really short. Do they not make them a sensible height? Grrr!

Phew at least it will fall out. And glad I'm not the only one with a belly almost as hairy as my DP's!

Strix · 12/07/2010 22:18

I think you want it short so it's about the height of your bed... no?

squistle · 13/07/2010 08:44

No hairy belly here but I do have armpit stretch marks! anyone else????

CherylAnnTweedy · 13/07/2010 09:05

Ah! The penny drops, so that's why their so short! Can you get ones to use during the day when you're not in bed? That are higher so you can lift baby out when standing? Or am I just being a pita by refusing to be able to bend down to lift baby out when I'm stood up?

No armpit stretch marks here Squistle, have your boobs grown that much?!

MrsSnaplegs · 13/07/2010 09:20

Off on a department "teambuilding" day today - walking in the Meon valley in Hampshire - should be fun. not so hot here today with a little light rain so hopefully not too bad - going to take the asy route with the older members of the dept

no hairy belly for me just nice long nails for a change!

backache and "twinges" across bump - try Deep Heat for backpain - drug free even if it does wiff a bit - remember use a tiny bit (about same as amount of toothpaste you use for doing teeth!)

Aimee - keep with it lady you are doing well - we all know you are doing the right thing for you and bump! I am so obviously pg now (18 wks) that someone gave up their seat for me on the train last Friday! Can't believe you can still get away with others not knowing - lucky you

Hope everyone has a nice day -see you all later

MrsSnaplegs · 13/07/2010 09:22

sorry that should say easy route

Chooster · 13/07/2010 09:52

I am so the same - I really dont like the pregnancy attention - espcially when I know I'm going to see someone I've not seen for a little while, even if they know I'm pregnant! Its unfair really as I ask just as many questions of my pregnant friends when I see them .

Aimee- You sound so sensible about the whole thing - I wish I was as mature as you when I was younger. And the thing is that the judgements and comments come when you are a older mum as well. Most people I know well have asked if it was planned and I know I'll get loads of comments of "3 boys - you'll have your hands full, nightmare!". Thats one of the reasons we wont be admitting we know the sex before he's born. Pregnancy just seems to make you public property!

aimee0211 · 13/07/2010 09:57

MrsSnaplegs you would think it was lucky but it's actually just because everyone is used to me having a 9 months pregnant belly already, I can't wait for my bump to catch up lol
