Sorry Hermya- just read your post on Pregnancy thread. You sound like you're going through the mill. I hope you get an answer from your midwife. Remeber, you can take paracetamol x x x

nymphadora · 09/06/2010 12:11

elsaIt said on my letter and past experience has taught me that its harder to see without! Yes I'm on vitamins , my nails are showing the benefit

hermya not good walking from the car park up to ante-natal! You know where I mean? Far too many stairs and I nearly passed out at the desk waiting to check in. Had to sit down while dh did it. My heart was going for ages after too. So doubt I'll be back at work next week as I hoped. Hope the bath helps you, otherwise make sure you have a lazy day!

roo glad you got sorted, always worth getting checked!

floozietoozie · 09/06/2010 12:36

Hermya, I hope your pains stop and you get an answer from your midwife quickly. I read your thread. The low lying placenta I don't know about but you can get quite bad stretching pains at this time. Take it easy whatever.

Hermya321 · 09/06/2010 13:18

Thanks guys, I did ring my midwife and she said it was probably stretchy pains. I just didn't know it could be this bloody painful.

The bath did help in the end or maybe it's just left me too sleepy to notice the pains.

Oh Nymph I happened to pay a visit to the gynie ward where I think you stayed. From experience I really don't blame you for wanting to get out of there asap. The woman there kept complaining I was interupting lunch (I was there as a result of the bleeding at work), as if I chose to come and spend my time in their presence.

Re the antenatel I think I do know where you mean, it is a bit of a trek from the car park isn't it.

nunnie · 09/06/2010 13:28

Afternoon all

I had to have full bladder for my 20 week, and they have told me to have a full bladder for the 32 week one. 20 was bad enough, I fear there will be definate leakage at 32 weeks tena lady pants may well be needed.

Feeling the baby a wee bit more over the last few days, think all the brodding and poking with the scanner has annoyed him.

I bought a cheapie nightie from matalan I think it was, went straight in the bin. This time I may well go through dh's shirts and look for one that's past it's best and steal that, much easier for whipping boob and skin out.

nymphadora · 09/06/2010 13:48

hermya Did you get to sit in the glorious dining room then? Its so dark & miserable! And they hide the tv remote which only works on a few channels anyway. We didnt see any other patients though.
Dh noticed the waiting room bit has the same stuff on the walls as last time I was in there 2 years ago
Antenatal is not near either car park, 4 lots of stairs from one and a trek along a road with no pavement from the other. Sure its a bit dodgy disabled access wise!

moonstorm · 09/06/2010 14:07

Hi

Thanks for the nightdress suggestions. I was hoping to have one with buttons all the way down - ease of taking off if I end up with cs or don't want to wear anything in labou (!), and so s/he can be delivered onto my belly whichever way I give birth. Ds was taken to SCBU before I could hold him so I want nothing in the way of skin-to-skin this time, if all goes to plan.

Hope everyone's pains soon settle.

I was wondering where everyone is due to give birth. I'm going to York - wonder if we have any hospital twins here?

Glad I'm not the only one packing a hospital bag!!! Chocolates are definitely on my list! Plus nice toiletry treats that I wouldn't normally buy!!

Congratulations on everone's scans!! We are getting more boys now.

x

nymphadora · 09/06/2010 14:11

hermya when are you due?

nunnie · 09/06/2010 14:42

My birthing hospital is Preston.
Have you thought about an old or cheap oversized mans shirt for birthing in? That's what I'm doing this time.

mamjo · 09/06/2010 15:09

Hi Ladies, I just had my midwife appointment but forgot to ask about the maternity form. I am so forgetfull. Do you know if I can get one from the GP?

I am planning to give birth at West Middlesex in Twickenham (much o my fathers despair that it will not be born in yorkshire any one else?

Oversized mens shirt is a great idea.

BackAgain · 09/06/2010 15:19

mamjo don't know if this helps but as I am not seeing my midwife until 25 weeks and I need my MATB1 for a meeting with work next week I have arranged for her to send it to me through the post. I have to text her next week just to remind her. Perhaps you could call your midwife and ask her to post it? Depends on how helpful they want to be I suppose

SilverSky · 09/06/2010 15:27

I have stitch like pain on my rhs. Not sure if indigestion or stretching.

Have decided I don't like over the bump trousers. I don't like the pressure on my tum.

Hermya321 · 09/06/2010 15:31

Nymph Oh no we didn't get to see the dining room, we got to see the waiting room though. Twas a pleasure let me tell you. I'm due 25/10 and it seriously can't come fast enough.

Elsa123 · 09/06/2010 16:00

Aah, my hospital has obviously got newer kit for scans. I've got my referral to a another hospital and new antenatal care! yippee! I go for my first appointment on the 17th. I put a complaint into my GP clinic about the standard and consistency of care so far and got this response:

I acknowledge receipt of your complaint. We are investigating it and aim to complete this process within 10 working days. I shall let you know if there is any further delay. When the investigations are complete, you will be invited to a meeting to discuss matters arising from the complaint.

Our referrals manager has liaised with the Hospital and re faxed your referral, they have contacted us to confirm receipt.

I can only apologise on behalf of the surgery. This is not acceptable, this is a special period within your life and should be a pleasant transition for you and your expected baby.

So thats very nice isn't it?! I'm very pleased with the swift holding response.

DillyDora · 09/06/2010 16:37

That's a good response Elsa

Congratulations on your little boy Hermya but sorry you have pain...

And congrats on your fab scan Nymph sounds like you have a yoga/martial arts bunny in there!

I'm giving birth at the Whittington here in N London.... anyone else?

nymphadora · 09/06/2010 17:31

Looking promising elsa

hermya we took to checking out the magazines all over the hospital so far our best was April 2006 it was ok and we didn't know most people in it! I thought you were a bit behind me but couldn't find it anywhere.

AbFabT · 09/06/2010 18:44

Maybe we should add our hospital areas to the stats list!

We're planning on St.Helier's, Carshalton.

mamjo · 09/06/2010 19:07

Good idea AbFabT I have added my hospital to the stats list.

Meanbeansmum · 09/06/2010 19:15

Hi popping in to say hello.

I am so tired ALL the time, baby must be growing loads. I'm 25 weeks on friday, feel more like 35 weeks lol.

I hope all mums and bumps are well.xxx

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 09/06/2010 19:35

Hello everyone - congrats on all the lovely scan news!! This really is the fun stage isn't it Hermya little boys are luuurvely. Hope the pains stop soon.
Elsa - that sounds really good, hope they stick to their word for you.
Meanbeansmum, good to see you Glad things are going ok, try iron (I am now swearing by it) for tiredness.

My DS is teething argh and dh is away so I am a tired Mamma who is going to head to bed soon! Still not got lots of strong movemnt but I now its early days ish.

Not added yet to the stats list so off to do it now

I'm off to a wedding sat - is a maxi dress going to look like I am either wearing a tent or make me look like a toilet roll doll type cover thingy?? I hope not, as its about all I can fit into. Everything else is from my slinky days

SilverSky · 09/06/2010 20:20

elsa so are you birthing dahn sarf or oooop north?

I still have to tell my gp I want to change hospitals. Think I have til 25 or 28 weeks to do it.

Bump doesn't seem to be bigger tho waist is and I was told today that aside from looking like a Rosemary Connelly gone wrong advert I am hardly looking muchly preggo for 21 weeks.

As I sit here now I can feel bubbles on the move. Praps should refer to bump as bubbles but then I just get horrid flash images of blooming wacko jacko and his chimp. Bump will have to remain nameless.

Slept last night with pillow under my tummy which was comfy and mean my hip didn't feel like it was going to turn into a bedsore. I prefer to sleep on my right side spooning Husband but I am sure you are sposed to avoid sleeping on your rhs. What's everyone else doing?

Ps wish it was Friday, actually I don't cos Husband is away this weekend and I hate being home alone!

Vikks · 09/06/2010 20:23

Hermya Yay another boy, congratulations!

SeaShells Maxi dresses look great on PG women. I?ve got a wedding in a few weeks and that?s what I?m going for. Enjoy!

Today I?ve received another wedding invite for late September & 200 miles away! What do you think? Should I go with my hospital bag?

All going well my hospital should be the RUH in Bath.

I gave my boss my letter of proposed leave today. I?ve gone for 37 week plus my remaining annual leave. So I?m finishing 27th August! I?m counting down now.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 09/06/2010 20:38

Thanks vikks! It's a lovely dress so I'm hoping it will be fine.
I turned down a wedding in sept that was miles away, it was going to be 4 weeks from due date and I really didn't feel comfortable with it. But it's really down to you- if you are still feeling fab and mobile it could be possible? It's tough isn't it to predict.

Silversky- I love my pillows! Tucked under bump is very comfortable, no idea if you should sleep on one side or not. Poor dh is now used to me spooning with a cushion and not him poor guy! He's away at the moment so you have my sympathy for this weekend.

lilmissmummy · 09/06/2010 21:26

The maxi dress sounds lovely and definitely the most flattering shape for us excessively curvy women!

I have always heard that you should sleep on your left side because of the main vein that runs down the right side and it optimises the blood flow to the baby. However as long as you arent lying on your front or on our back then I dont think there is a great deal of difference (not a doctor though so may want to get it checked). I always go to sleep on my left side with dh spooning me and wake up on my right spooning dh!

I do have to have loads of pillows though, especially one between my legs!

I am very excited today as I have my scan tomorrow afternoon so we will know what flavour mini is! I reckon it is a boy!

I am giving birth at Great Western in Swindon.

I think I will probably wear one of dh old shirts to give birth in. I always feel safe in his shirts, they are nice lengths for me too (he is 6'2" and I am 5'3") and perfect for breastfeeding or stripping off if necessary!

SilverSky · 09/06/2010 21:49

Thanks all! ESP shells I am so not looking forward to this Fri as Husband is away from then and cos I am mature about it, I am being bit mean to him cos I don't want him to go.

I will have to drown my sorrow and loneliness in lots of nice preggo friendly stuff to occupy me.
