Hello tink!

It sure is quiet in here! Once you go to CP, I may be left talking to myself!
Hope you have a great time :)

Starshinetiger · 08/08/2010 20:57

Don't worry Ses, I keep lurking, just struggling to find time to post. So many jobs not done over last couple of weeks, so trying to catch up in evenings and should really be working now Sad

Loving that you are getting your Neighbours updates on here Grin

We've had a lovely but tiring day here. Took DC to a Farm Park not far from here and they had a great day. DD worn out and in bed, but DS fell asleep on the way home and 30 mins after he went to bed I heard him calling me:
DS"Mummy, Mummy"
Me: went up to his bedroom - "What's up?"
DS: "We said x and y (neighbours' DC) would come over and play"
Me: "I know, but it got too late and we had to go to bed. Aren't you tired?"
DS: "I can't close my eyes (his description of when he can't get to sleep"
Me: "Do you want to read another book by yourself?"
DS: "No" and snuggled with his tiger and thumb in

He is so lush - am soooo lucky that he is just content to lie up there until he falls asleep (although he is still tired from the whole weekend and he has had a brilliant day, so it's not a punishment or anything - the rest is doing him good even if he's not sleeping). Just reminds me, I shouldn't complain about DD's sleeping, as DS is brilliant and we have been spoilt Grin

Can't remember what I've read over last couple of days...
Can't - hope 2nd insems went well.
Tink - have a fab holiday
Ses - I don't think you should be grateful for your DH putting up with you at all. You are lovely and he needs to remember that if he gets to go to bed early then he should be grateful and not sarky with you. Marriage and parenting is about partnership. That's me off my high horse now Blush

Sorry for anything else I've missed. Now to work stuff...

essenceofSES · 08/08/2010 22:26

Star - thank you for your kind words :)
Glad someone else is about!

Your DS is so cute and I secretly can't wait for the day when O stops wriggling and running around like a mad thing and finds a lovely soft toy (like J's tiger) that he becomes attached to.
Needless to say, I know when that day comes, I'll fret about keeping said soft toy safe!

I'm now 7dpo and absolutely no symptoms to speak of. I've also had a letter from my GP about my underactive thyroid saying that my latest blood tests suggest I need to increase my dose. I've made an appointment to go and see her on 16th but poorly controlled, it can lead to problems ttc and mc I've increased my dose myself immediately Hmm Could also explain why I seem to have put on half a stone in the last month or so Blush

My brother gets married in 4 weeks and I'm really struggling to find a nice outfit for O to wear. I know he'll probably have it mucky within minutes but I'd really like to find something nice and smart for him. Any ideas??!

Right Sherlock about to finish and then bed for me!
Hope everyone's ok and had good wkends?

Starshinetiger · 09/08/2010 07:10

Morning. Well see, that's what I get for being smug about DS last night - he wet the bed at 10. First time he's done it in months and he's only ever done it a handful of times even through potty training. DD had a shocker last night woke every 100 mins from 12.30. Went back to sleep in her cot ok every time with me sat there with her, but at 4.15 I gave in and gave her milk. I am shattered.

Ses, thanks for yourkind words about DS - we think he's lovely. He must have been over 2 or pretty much 2 when he suddenly got attached to his Raaaargh (what hecalls his tiger - it's the noise a tiger makes), so they don't necessarily get attached very young (although that is very young - but you know I mean).

Ses, we went to a close friend's wedding when DS was just 2 and he wore a smart outfit from m&s - was jacket shirt and jeans and he looked very smart. Good thing is he's worn the jeans and shirt since so not a spend for only one day IYKWIM. I've found next and M&S just as good as anywhere for smart boys clothes.

GiraffeYoga · 09/08/2010 07:31

Morning All

Sorry for long absence.... I've done a quick skim of recent posts but not a full catch up since I was last here.

No excuse really, except that I need to spend less time on the net when not working!! Blush so I've been trying to give it a wide birth when at home....

Smithy- not sure I said it before but welcome back to the wagon. Sorry to hear you need to come back but glad you are excited about it.

Ses- fingers crossed for your TTC

Cant- did I read you were starting the insemination? good luck

Star- your DS sounds gorgeous :) love the name of his tiger :)

Things have been busy in the G.Yoga house. The Small Giraffe is now properly walking Grin and Im secretly thrilled she isnt the last in the nct group to do something! Although still walking like john wayne (when do they get over that and do it normally?). She is also showing us her dominant side and is very clear on what she wants (mainly daddy all the time) and has also developed a talent for throwing and hitting (mainly me in the face) Hmm Im sure this is all normal for a nearly 1.5yr old.

Morning everyone else!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 09/08/2010 21:20

evening- just bookmarking now i'm home. should get off to bed as i'm pooped but couldn' help a quick peek. catch you tomorrow hopefully!!

essenceofSES · 09/08/2010 21:30

Hello Star, Giraffe and Cant (and anyone else around!)

Star - sorry you had such a rubbish night. Hope you have a better one tonight.

Giraffe - yay for walking SG :)

O is also showing his feelings quite physically at the moment. If he doesn't want to do something (eg: get in his car seat, get in the bath, have his mappy changed or what ever!) he will arch his back, wriggle and scream like a banshee! I literally felt like I was fighting him this evening to get him in the bath!

Busy day today at work and tomorrow have a training course in Leicester for the day. It starts at 9.30am but I can't drop O off at nursery until 7.30am so will be a bit tight. I have warned them that I may be late but it doesn't look very good, I know.

Looking forward to Wednesday. I'm taking O in to nursery for a bit (even though it's our day off!) as they have a fire engine visiting and then in the evening, we're going for a pub meal with my older brother and SIL who are down visiting from Keswick for a few days.

GruffaloSoldier · 09/08/2010 23:42

Hi all!

Just a quick post as I am about to go to bed! Lots going on here with new job, DH off for the Summer so going out lots and also trying to get the flat ready as we are having it valued on Thursday! very nervous!

YAY for SG walking GY

I just wanted to say that GC wants DH loads too, its nice but does make me a bit Hmm sometimes Grin

GC also very physical and has started having tantrums (which are over very quick)but if I say "no" where ever he is in the room he will either come over and head butt me or headbutt the floor/push along cart etc If I ignore him he gets back to normal very quickly but it is so hard to keep a straight face as he has developed some pretty fantastic stroppy and not impressed looks!haha

Ses hope you make the meeting tomorrow

Star - hope you get a better nights sleep!

Just thought I'd say GC has been attached to his duck which he calls "duck" (first word) since he was 6 or 7 months. But I was quick to introduce other special toys so that if we ever did lose one he had other alternatives. In bed he has dog ("Woof"or sometimes "Boof") Roo ("Roo") Elephant (elephant sound) and a bear that is called either Duck or Roo depending on his mood Grin He doesn't insist on having them all in but usually does. His favourite is def Dog at the moment! He cries "woof woof woof" all sad and forlorn if we put him out of the way for breakfast or leave him in the car for an outing - LOL Grin

Right Im off to bed! I'll try get on tomorrow

bumpsnowjustplump · 10/08/2010 13:44

Hello all, I have been so busy so haven't been on in ages...

Busy with work and the two monkeys (who are being lovely at the moment [gasp])...

Work is going really well i am enjoying it so much, I already have people asking for me full time and have only been going out on my own for two weeks..

I am shocked at some of the other staff's practices and values though and the way they treat people we care for.. One carer didn't turn up on monday, didn't call in or anything. As we care for people in their own homes it didn't come to light she hadn't turned up until after the office had shut. Out of hours called me and I picked up her shift but 4 hours after she should have started. One lady was left in a chair, no food, no one to take her to the toilet, cold, lonely, scared and wet through since mid day and i only got to her at 8 O clock. I was disgusted and had a good cry when I got home. How can people do this?

Right just going to check up on the thread a bit.. speak soon xxx

Starshinetiger · 10/08/2010 13:52

Woohoo - DD slept 10 hours last night and then because she still seemed tired, we gave her a few ounces of milk and she went off again for 1.5 hours, getting up at ca. 7.15 - she seemed so much more content for it. So, that's at least 50% of nights in last 10 days that she's (what I call) slept through - yay for DD.

Gruff - GC sounds so cute with his toys. Lovely that he has a variety of attachments too :)

GYo - lovely to see you on here. Yay for DD walking - not so yay for hitting in the face, but think it's part of their development of demonstrating their emotions and their frustration. It too will pass (good reminder to me that DD's nails need cutting tonight as she drew blood on DH yesterday).

Ses - work sounds very hectic indeed. Fire engine visit sounds great though - can we come?!

Can't - nice to see you back, hope you had a lovely time away.

Reading all of your anecdotes of what your DC are up to is reminding me that I really need to document some of it for future years. DS is classic at the moment. Last week I was changing all the beds upstairs and DD wanted to go into her cot. As it was nearing nap time, I thought why not? DS wanted to sit on the chair in her room with her, then as I carried on changing our bed, he proceeded to say "DD, lie down. Lie down, DD" - I kept reassuring and saying it was fine, she didn't need to lie down and could play if she wanted, then DS said - "Mummy, I've got a good idea... We need to sellotape DD to the cot" Grin!!!!! I said, why's that? DS: So that she'll sleep. Grin they do come out with the most classic things.

Just prolonging the agony of the horrendous spreadsheet I have to work with this afternoon by being on here, so best get to it Hmm

Moosy · 10/08/2010 15:12

Afternoon

GYo, yay for walking, and I love B's shoes, very pretty!

Star, also yay for the sleep! Perhaps you could get C to teach Fizzy a thing or two? She's being awful these days, on Sunday night she was awake for 2 hours (1-3am) and fed so much I was so sore, then she bit me and drew blood. Last night was a bit better though, she only woke once at 3.15 so we'll see how she does tonight...

Can't, glad the insems went well, when do you test?

Bumps :( for the lady, hope she's ok now and the person responsible has been dealt with.

We have a moving date for the barn!! 27th August we move, and we're having a party on the 3rd September which is also DD1's 5th birthday and her party in the afternoon! I've invited you all on FB, so if you want to have a nice weekend break in sunny Somerset you can camp in our field :o

cantmummyhaveabreak · 10/08/2010 16:04

Moosy- would have loved to come for a camping w/end (and party Grin)- but DS is back at school on the 2nd. :(

Insems went really well in the end- doing our all important POAS on the 20th- day AF is due!!

Bumps- my mum used to work in the care sector too and found a lot of other workers were the same as you describe- it's horrible that people think just because they're old they wont notice/it doesn't matter!!

Star- I actually LOL'd at your DS's sellotape comment!! :)

G-Yo- Wuhoo for walking!! DD2 is taking more and more steps every day!!

Actually, now she's taking more steps i thought about some hard soled shoes for her, clarks measured her at a 3e- rare size and none in current stock that i like. Anyway found some white kickers boots but they were in the sale as discontinued, and they didn't have a 3... :( went round a carboot with in-laws at weekend and found the exact same boots, in a size 3 for only £3!!! was so excited!! Then went into the charity shop today and found a pair of black patent leather clarks boots in a 3e!!! 50p!! how lucky is that- both look barely worn too so will last her!! :)

GruffaloSoldier · 10/08/2010 20:28

Wow Cant that is amazing that you found two pairs of shoes - it was definitely meant to be!:)

Star - I love it when kids say funny things. A child I looked after when she was 2 was looking at a jigsaw puzzle of Postman Pat. She pointed to Jess and looked at me and said "He is a genius!" It was the emphasis she said it with, still tickles me!:)

Moosy, we are supposed to be going away that weekend as DH is in a unicycle race on the Sunday. I will have a look at the dates again but I am pretty sure I cant do it :(

Bump sorry to hear that you had a tough day, at least you know you are doing a good job and making a big difference to someone. Well done you, sounds like you are doing fabulously!

Hi to any lurkers. More tidying to do here. The valuation is looming - Im getting really worried as if it has lost value we might have to stay, and I really don't want to :(

essenceofSES · 10/08/2010 20:55

Hello!

Long day today. Didn't make it to Leicester in time for 9.30 but it didn't matter too much. Got home about 45mins ago and DH has got O to bed and cooked dinner :)

Gruff - hope the valuation is what you need (and more!) Where are you in ttc at the moment? Are you due to test at all? Grin

Cant - glad insemin went well. Shoes you found sound fab!

Star - awww at your DS (again!) sellotape comment so cute and funny Grin

Bumps - great that your job is working out well and that you've had some good feedback.
That poor lady :(

Moos - great about the barn. It's my brother's wedding that weekend so won't be able to join in the celebrations but if we're ever down your way another time, I'll definitely let you know :)

Hello everyone else!

I'm on CD28 of a normally 30-32 day cycle. When should I test???!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 11/08/2010 07:14

OMG Ses- POAS, POAS, POAS woman!!! Can't believe you've had the patience to hold off till now!! Grin

I've been up for the last hour taking pics of all the bits i need to sell on ebay. Hope to get it listed within today.... listed some that ended on monday, sold for loads more than i'd expected!!

essenceofSES · 11/08/2010 08:03

Morning!
Can't - lol Grin
I did POAS this morning. BFN :( No hint of a line. I was starting to get my hopes up as I woke up at 4am yesterday morning needing a wee. Nevermind! I'll see what happens over the next couple of days.

Also feeling a bit :( and Hmm about my dress for my brother's wedding. It's one I had before I was pg and only wore once at one of DH's work does. It's strapless, fitted around the body and then a full knee length skirt. I tried it on again this morning and it just does up. Not sure how it'll feel after a few hours and wedding breakfast. I really need to lose weight and shift some flab from my belly asap!

On a brighter note, we order windows for the kitchen today, the roof tiling is complete, O and I are going to see a fire engine (and firemen!) at nursery this morning and we get to see my older brother and SIL tonight!

Sorry for the me post. Hope you're all well and have a great day!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 11/08/2010 08:39

shame for BFN ses- when did your bfp show with O? I got my 1st bfp (v.faint i may add) at 11dpo with DD2....

essenceofSES · 11/08/2010 08:54

With O it was 9dpo but I do remember Diege and I querying whether it was so early because of recent mc. (I'm sure she got her BFP 9dpo too). Just have to wait and see...

Hope your ebaying goes well.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 11/08/2010 09:26

have got 3 things listed so far...

hope no-one reads this next bit while eating breakfast... TMI alert!!

Just went to the loo- had a bit of pinky coloured discharge when i wiped myself... so i had a little 'dig' around and found that i have LOTS of thick CM around my cervix- nowhere else, just there... a bit was streaked with blood... anyone know when implantation takes place? wondering if i'm reading too much into it... am now on 6dpo i think... day 21 of a normally 28 day cycle... not told friend tho as dont wanna get her excited to just get a BFN next week...

sorky · 11/08/2010 09:31

5-6dpo is about the earliest for implantation, normally about 9dpo. BUT it would depend on whether the egg was fertilised at the end of the tubes iyswim.

The blood could well be it Can't! how exciting, you could be HONK'ing soon.

btw if it is, you should see a faint positive at 9-10dpo.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 11/08/2010 09:35

well i think the peak of my OV was on weds evening... we did insems on tues evening and thurs evening... so could well have had some 'man bits' waiting to fertilise straight away.... OMG- it's seeming a real possibility that i could actually be PG 1st mth of ttc!!

sorky · 11/08/2010 09:40

er did you get postcards from Diege?

she's 6 days late Grin

sorky · 11/08/2010 09:41

bloody hell you could well all be up the duff together......we'll not sleep the week you're all due Grin
