Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
diane77 · 06/08/2005 19:13

hi all
m/h - i still have my sore head but have no swelling or visual disturbance, probably due to stress so much to do and so little time, its a lot harder this time around having a 2 year old to entertain 24/7! i think ill start up a bussiness which provides childcare and/or help to get organised for the new baby, that would be bliss

mummyhill · 06/08/2005 19:20

Hi D77 entertaining a toddler whilst being pregnant is fun isn't it (NOT) your idea for a new business sounds good to me. My dd (3.5) is driving me barmy and will not let me get any rest thank god for grandparents and their overwhelming need to see her over the weekend is all i can say. My parents have just dropped her back to us fast asleep after a lovely day looking at all the animals at the Oswestry Show.

The cat however is just as bad anyone would think that we never fed him and that he is starved of affection the way he is behaving at the moment I can't move without him plastering himself to my leg which is no fun when you are on the stairs.

diane77 · 06/08/2005 19:30

i borrowed a stethoscope from work before my mat leave am just about positive i can hear heartbeat!!

ych · 06/08/2005 19:37

Thanks for that Mummyhill, although not sure what I think about it! I suppose it's a good thing that the baby is the right way down, etc. It also explains the increase in peeing, I literally flush the toilet then feel like I need again!
Diane77 - are you in Livingston?

mummyhill · 06/08/2005 19:51

Am fully expecting to be told that we are 5/5 on monday as i can just feel the shoulders above my pelvis and bum/feet are definatley lower down than they were. Not too worried about it though as have all the baby stuff organised, my mum is on stand by and can come out of work to have dd if necessary. Would just like to be able to get the house tidy first though. Need to send dh up into the loft with all the stuff we won't be needing till christmas. Also need to demolish the washing mountain, have put 4 loads through today and don't seem to have scratched the surface. Ohh well it gives me something to do whilst i am waiting.

diane77 · 06/08/2005 20:05

i am going to livingston st johns to give birth but i stay a wee bit outside nearer falkirk

ych · 06/08/2005 20:17

Diane77 - Oh I was born in Falkirk! I'm in Dunfermline, Fife now though. Just wondered as was looking at stats thread and noticed you were having baby in Livingston.

diane77 · 06/08/2005 20:22

i was born in falkirk too, not many falkirk bairns born recently though!

milward · 06/08/2005 20:33

Congrats Moschops & family. Hope things are going well for you all xxx

Mummyhill: thanks for asking about the thyroxine. I've been taking a tablet every morning 30 mins before breakfast. My other medication for digestive probs has cholyestramine in so isn't compatible with the thyroxine. I now have to take this 5hrs after the tablet and then later on at night. So far my digestive system is ok although I have to be sure not to go 15 hrs between medication. I'll have a blood test in 2 weeks. Hope everything is ok. Hope things are ok for you as well xxx

pooka · 06/08/2005 20:51

Wow - baby No.1 already! How fantastic!
I'm 36 weeks today.
Last week was 4/5 engaged. Am nesting like crazy, but did this last time for about 4 weeks before Lucy arrived, on her due date. So fingers crossed the babe will stay in place for a little while as builders still here daily and I'm sick of spending all my time cleaning up after them. Have painted the bathroom today, which was not on the list of things to be done, but the gas fitter managed to cut through the mains water pipe and the wallpaper got all stained. Ridiculous, but I just couldn't leave it. Midwife coming tomorrow for home birth booking in. House spotless. Even bicarbed the woodwork round the house. But have to hang on till 37 weeks otherwise they ask you to go into hospital. Haven't really got bag packed - hate doing it as would some of the things I would take are in daily use and don't want to double up. So hae a bag with: allways ultra nightime pads, breast pads, 2 nighties, pair of flip flops. And that's it. Suppose it's all I'd really need if push came to shove.
Still can't believe mosschops done it already!

Milward - are you feeling any better for taking the thyroxine?

I am feeling exceptionaly fat tonight have just had a nice steak (well it would of been if i didn't have to eat it so well done)with onion rings, mushrooms and chips with loads of peppercorn sauce (will probably have indegestion by time i go to bed). Am now planning to go and heat up apple crumble and shove some toffee ice cream with it!!! See i actually made a decision about tea tonight and the plan worked for the first time in weeks!!!!!

Redhelen · 06/08/2005 21:13

mummyhill - you tea sound fantastic - I've given up getting bras to fit they all seem to vary so much!

  • I need ice cream. Been very busy today getting house ready - I'm rather freaked by first baby arriving and I had strange contractions earlier -imagine they are braxton hicks - never had them before! Night night xxxxxxxx
milward · 06/08/2005 23:19

Like the sound of your dinner mummyhill. I had a rich meal yesterday & woke up with heartburn around 3.00 am!!
I don't know if I feel better for the thyroxine. I do feel more balanced in myself but I think it could be due to stopping taking vits & iron that give me cramps & diarrhea. I kept up with the vits until about 7 weeks ago but it was just too much discomfort. When I had dd3 I thought the early labour signs were due to my probs with taking vits - told my doc this afterwards & she better understood how I must have felt before when she said that I had to keep taking the iron. I do seem to have more energy though - this could be due to more thyroid. Hopefully it is doing me some good.

KiwiKate · 07/08/2005 00:10

CONGRATULATIONS MOSCHOPS FAMILY!!
Hope all is going well. We are all keen for an update, when you are feeling up to it.
(Guess you didn't need all that spd info after all)

mummyhill · 07/08/2005 07:31

Milward - I found i had a lot more energy and did't feel so lethargic all the time when they started me on the thyroxine. I know myself if my levels are seriousley out as I get lethargic and miserable and pile on the pounds I have been amazed at the amount of weight that has droped off me even though i am pregnant now that they have my levels spot on.

Managed to escape the heartburn even after having a naughty bottle of beer with dinner, was awake more than usual for potty trips and had to change dd's bed at midnight but luckily she went back off again without any problems, nanny and grampy must really worn her out yesterday.

DH starts his own karate club this morning and is running round in a bit of a tizzy we know that at least three of his instructors students are going to be there to help him and they are bringing their children to sign up so i don't have to worry that there will be no one there for his first lesson but he is still worrying.

milward · 07/08/2005 10:15

Mummyhill - happy to hear you had no side effects from your meal! It's true that I've not put on as much weight as before the thyroxine. I'm 20 kilos bigger but in the last weeks have just put on the baby weight rather than flab.
I've yet to start toilet training properly. My dd3 likes to sit on the loo & is very proud but does nothing! I'm hoping she'll get the idea before next little one is born.
It's tough having to get up night to change a bed - hope this isn't too frequent.
Last day of hols for my dh - has gone too quick. We've stayed at home & just done local day trips & one overnight. Really enjoyed this - both agree it's better than actually going away on hols!!!

mummyhill · 07/08/2005 10:40

We are quite lucky dd has been dry through the day since 2.5 and she decided no more night time nappies at 3 she is 3.5 now and we average one wet bed a week. Next one will not be so easy. Am supposed to be getting on with the house work, whilst dh is out teaching, entertaining dd and doing some prep for tommorows toddler group we are having a teddy bears picnic and next week we are having a puppet making workshop. I have eventually managed to get a couple of volunteers to open up and pack away etc for a few weeks whilst i am recovering from hospital stay, was worried that i would have to close the group which would mean that half of them would probably drop out/find another group to go to.

mummyhill · 07/08/2005 10:42

I was 94kg before i got pregnant, got on the scales the other day at mums to find that with just over 4 weeks to go i am only 94.3kg there is not a lot of flab on me anymore it all appears to be baby weight so i will be shopping for a nice new wardrobe at christmas.

zubb · 07/08/2005 15:06

CONGRATULATIONS MOSCHOPS!!

Just caught up with the news, hope its all going well !!

Kiwifruit · 07/08/2005 17:28

CONGRATULATIONS MR & MRS MOSCHOPS!! good to hear that everyone is well - look forward to hearing all about it when you're up to it.

Am now sufficiently scared to go and start organising my hospital bag...

Redhelen · 07/08/2005 17:42

Willy Wonka - not a suggested baby name! just seen the film and loved it!! and really like Johnny Depp too! Feeling heavy today and its getting more and more difficult to do what I want to do!!

mummyhill - I hope I have contained my weight durring pregnancy to around an extra 2-2.5 stone - but I'll definately have some work to do losing some remaining after the birth!!.I'm going a birthday/ christmas clothes fest too! Has your weight fallen due to the thyroxine - or do you have secret weapon??

mummyhill · 07/08/2005 19:21

It was mainly due to getting the thyroxine levels correct but being sick till about 23 weeks helped as well.

Would quite like to see willy wonka and see how it compares to the old one which i loved as a child. Thoroughly enjoyed the books as well. It is one of the few films i have seen after reading the books and not been too disapointed by the end result. I try not see the film if i have read the book and vice versa as i find that it limits my imagination to see the film first, and if i read the book first i hate the way they don't stick to the book.

milward · 07/08/2005 20:27

redhelen - lost all my preg flab by breastfeeding. With my other little ones I'd lost nearly all the weight by 6 weeks after the birth & the rest just melted away. If I hadn't been able to bf it would have been hard as I'd gained over 20 kilos with dd1 & dd3 but only 12 kilos with dd2.
mummyhill - happy that your thyroid levels are fine. Thanks for your support on this. Your toddler group sounds good. I used to help organise a playgroup and it really can be loads of work but great fun. Glad that you've got some helpers.

diane77 · 07/08/2005 21:00

yipee my sore head has finally gone. dh has painted nursery just needs some gentle persuasion to get the pram and other bits and pieces from the loft! Finding it really hard to sleep at night now so completely exhaused during the day, so taking the oppertunity to nap at same time as dd, im so glad im on mat leave, im sure my boss wouldnt take very well to mid afternoon naps!

milward · 07/08/2005 21:03
