When to get stuff ready for new baby?

When should I get stuff ready?
I got a crazy email from Boots parenting club suggested packing hospital bag at 33 weeks!
I was thinking more like 37 weeks or later?

Also when to get nursery/ place for baby to sleep ready? (This is not my first child but I can't remember what we did previously. )

I would pack it sooner than 37 weeks - after all, your baby is considered full term at that point! And it wouldn't be totally unlikely for the baby to come sooner. At least once you've packed it you can just forget about it - why put it off?!

And with the nursery - we got DD's nursery ready loads before she was due, but then she slept in a Moses basket in our room for the first 5 months, so I don't know why we bothered to have it all ready for her birthday! Where are you planning your baby will sleep? As long as you have a place for him/her to sleep, a place to change nappies, and a comfortable place to feed and cuddle, then you're pretty much sorted, I reckon.

I second what wigeon said about your hospital bag, with my first I was like you thinking 37 weeks would be fine - then my waters broke at 35 weeks - cue mad dash to get everything thrown in a case, I sent dh (then dp) to shop for nappies, wipes etc cos we hadn't bought them yet. T'was very funny looking back

With the nursery - we got everything finished when I was about 33 weeks, looking back prob a bit early. DD slept in there from about 10 weeks. Still in her moses basket tho, ehich we placed inside the cot (later learned that this is apparently frowned upon? For reason unknown to me)

Sorry - I seem to have waffled on a bit there - hope this helps

Thanks, I could easily go to 41-42 weeks so not hugely worried about the hospital bag

I do need to make some space for the cot and find somewhere to put the baby clothes

CherryPie DS slept in moses basket in cot aswell, nobody said anything negative to me.

I had all the baby things ready quite early from memory, because I couldn't resist. My hospital bag I remember leaving quite late last time. Will try to be more oranised this time round.

I have my bag packed at 30 weeks but I haven't taken everything out of it packets and washed it.
More to help me budget than anything else I'd hate to have to spend £50 in Boots in one go, better to throw the odd toothbrush, packet of pads in the basket as I do a sainsburys shop.
I will definately be putting the moses basket inside the cot, when I find the screws that is
