Hi All. I'm on the other December thread in 'pregnancy' but thought I would join up here too. I'm 8+5 and due 3rd December I think. I had a midwife appointment about a week ago and am now waiting for my booking in appointment and scan dates...I am very impatient and want it all booked NOW!

So far it's tiredness and some weird food aversions that have hit me...I can't stand the thought of chocolate (which I used to gobble at every opportunity!), tea or coffee. I am also craving bland, dry food...the plainer the better! I seem to have good and bad days with regards to sickness...I was very nauseous on Sunday but am fine today...strange.

So far I've only told my best friend but am desperate to tell all the family. We are waiting until after the scan so I am having to keep quiet for now...apart from on here of course!

OnlyWantsOne · 27/04/2010 09:36

LOL - same!! My DD is from a previous relationship, so this baby is my DP's first, and we wanted top get married first, didnt expect to get pregnant so quickly.

Had to MC before this PG so I am really anxious and hoping that it sticks where it is other wise I cant face it.

My DD knows, I told her (she's 3)

Welcome LittleCedar, I'm definitely feeling the tiredness too. It's nice being able to chat about it all on MN hehe/

OWO funny how it works out isn't it? It's all good though, I'm really glad to be pregnant. We've been trying for nearly a year and actually planned to be married last summer but his brother was travelling abroad so we decided to put it off. Ooh, we'd thought about a Christmas wedding before, wonder if we could pull that one off this year?

Sorry to hear about your MC, it's awful for next pregnancies isn't it

Aww, my youngest ds is 3, haven't told him yet though; he'd probably tell everyone hehe.

OnlyWantsOne · 27/04/2010 09:49

When I told my Mum, she asked who else knew, and I said that DD had known since I found out - my Mum said oh, no, thats not possible she would have told me (Mum and DD very close) so I just looked at DD and said, whats in my tummy, DD laughed and said A BABY

mum was Very shocked!!!

JodieO · 27/04/2010 09:52

Awww she sounds so sweet I think I told my mum about 20 mins after getting a positive test, I had to tell someone! Dp knew already, I showed him the test right away. It's so exciting

OnlyWantsOne · 27/04/2010 09:54

LOL well my DP works away - so I found out on the Monday morning, and had to wait till Friday night when my DP got home - do DD was the first person I told

Where abouts do you live?

OP posts:
JodieO · 27/04/2010 09:56

That must have been so hard for you not telling him for days! I'm in Cambridge, where are you?

OnlyWantsOne · 27/04/2010 10:04

Ah that's about an hour away I think from here, not really that far

PJen · 27/04/2010 10:29

Hi girls,
Strange thing that I want to share with you guys. I had gained 3-5 lbs in the week 6 and 7 and have lost the weight in week 8!!! Of course I am not on any diet. I am back to my normal size and weight and have only a tiny bump and can fit in my clothes again! I did some research and turned out l the weight was result of puff and water retention caused by hormones! Strange! I feel much better though as I was panicking about how big I would get by week 30+! Anyone else puffing up and down like this?

PJen · 27/04/2010 10:34

notso the maternal pants that I was referring to look like normal pants but from a comfortable material. You can get them at maternal stores. They have different buttons at both side and are very clever since you can adjust the front size to your tummy's size. I am wearing them on their smallest setting and the only thing that you notice are two small folding at both sides, which are really hidden and difficult to see. For the time that the bump is there, you can enlarge it to 3 settings and last setting is pretty big! Zara in Westfield London has them and another maternity store downstairs has them too so I guess you can find them almost in any maternity store?! I bought them for 29 GBP so not too expensive either.

OnlyWantsOne · 27/04/2010 10:46

PJen I put of 1/2 a stone from 4 weeks to 7 weeks, and now its settled down and im losing weight steadily, heading back down to 10 stone so yes, exaclty the same

I also feel alot more comfortable in my clothes, nu bump here though, just fat and norks

Morning all, hows everyone feeling today?

Wholelottalove thanks for the reply - She has a counselling session tomorrow morn so I am planning on speaking to counsellor then. DH is more worried about her response than me i guess - I am hoping we can make it into a positive experience for her and it may be a focus for her to come along to scans etc and be a big part of the experience. I think I will let us be guided by her counsellor though.

I havent bothereed to weigh myself as I think it would depress me far too much. I seem to of balloned but I am hopeful from reading others post that this puffiness is water related - I am only 6 +4 so hopefully that will settle down over next week or so

PJen · 27/04/2010 12:01

OWO exactly the same here... good to read here that I am not alone!

TheChangeSpiral · 27/04/2010 14:36

Hello everyone

Sorry I haven't been around for a few days but I have finally moved to Bristol and started my new job - hooray!

Feeling a bit better this week - not so much nausea. I've found that Fentiman's ginger beer or traditional lemonade (which also has ginger in it) are fantastic MS cures. A few swigs will keep it at bay for hours!

I'm studying for a masters with the OU at the moment but a bit worried about how I'm going to manage working (part time), studying and being pregnant at the same time. Does anyone have any experience of studying while pregnant?

notso · 27/04/2010 15:06

Hello and welcome LittleCedar,

Been to see the midwife this morning, not quite as exciting as I had hoped.
She's not coming until early June for proper booking in.
Had a quick chat about foods etc, she filled in a request for a scan, gave me some forms about tests and that was it.
She did tell me to stay off work until Friday though because of the slapped cheek.

Thanks for the pants info PJen.

Don't know when we will be telling people, def not the DC until after the scan, most people in work know now, a couple of friends and my sister.
I think my Mum and Dad will be secretly disappointed that I will be putting my career and degree on hold yet again.

Good news on the job and move Spiral Angelgirl your poor DSD, I hope it goes ok with the councellor.

OnlyWantsOne · 27/04/2010 15:25

notso what degree are you doing? Im about to finish my second year

Angelgirl79 · 27/04/2010 15:43

Thanks notso, its been quite a tough few weeks with everything going on.

Is anyone else finding that they are not suffering so much with MS but with afternoon sickness. Its about this time everyday now that I am feeling really queasy like i could bring my lunch up (sorry if tmi) and cant even bear the thought of food!!

Spriral where do you buy fentimans lemonade from?
x

Persnickety · 27/04/2010 15:43

Hello. Can I join. Am still getting my head round the idea of being... (whispers "forty") and up the duff. What can I say... a bit too much wine and a little too fertile.

But, secretly I always wanted a 3rd child so can't say I'm really all that disappointed.

However... I never ever ever ever ever wanted to have a baby on Christmas Day. I plan EVERYTHING. How did I get here??? Oh yeah, the wine.

Oh jeez... I hope I'm not the oldest one here.

(yes, I have name changed as I do not have the courage yet to announce my silly ways to the whole world... and we all know that the whole world is on MN)

emmaxmas · 27/04/2010 15:43

hello again, feeling like a big bloater today- interesting to read about others puffiness due to hormones. Mega tired past two days- have actually dropped off at work a couple of times- very embarrassing!

Have made request for hospital- have chosen to go with Kingston- anyone else chosen Kingston?

Hope all of you with MS are feeling better today

Persnickety · 27/04/2010 15:46

Hi emma, what was your choice? Why did you choose Kingston?

emmaxmas · 27/04/2010 15:53

Hi Persnickety- my choices were St Georges/ Kingston/ Chelsea and Westminster. Did a lot of research into it all- lots of horror stories about all but from everything I read Kingston seemed to come out the best. Postnatal care in all seems to be pretty bad from what I've read.

emmaxmas · 27/04/2010 15:56

Persnickety- I see your due same time as me! I always felt sorry for the kids who had their birthday at xmas and now I'm doing exactly that! Not great planning on my part! Oh well it is what it is!

Persnickety · 27/04/2010 16:00

I have an opinion on which I would choose. But, perhaps it's too late and you don't want to hear it now?

emmaxmas · 27/04/2010 16:11

I would be very interested in hearing please!
