Please will someone tell what BESH and PESH stand for...ie what do the two words mean? sorry for being thick.

CUNextTuesday · 16/03/2010 18:56

Barren Evil Selfish Hags - undergraduates of a certain age

Pregnant Evil Selfish Hags - graduate BESHes of a certain age

pandora69 · 16/03/2010 19:36

Skates, I cannot think of anything worse than having OH turn to me in a public place and call me 'Mummy!' Gaaaahh! But you do hear it around.

Camenbert - just thinking of it is making me come over all funny. Is there ANY way of cooking it enough that the bacteria will be killed that doesn't involve it all melting and running away?

Rots, give me a clue. Any t'other place in particular? The prune-y place? (I do occasionally visit there. If you want a good laugh have a search for my thread on the military forum asking about Chinooks and watch the soldier's reactions, before a bunch of people who know me, but scarily I don't know to this day, ride in to save me!)

As for why I became a pilot, it's a bit bizarre really. I always wanted to be a vet (well, what else did you think I actually wanted to be?) But the school I was at told me I was too thick. So I went off and did some kind of biology degree thingy which seemed to involve looking at brains a lot. (Favourite pan topic number 387 - after horses, planes and food is pain, my specialist subject at uni .) After the degree I couldn't think what to do, but my cousin was a medical rep so on her advice I got a job selling pain killers of varying strengths. I used to take a bag of morphine and codeine samples round Moss Side . The initial training for the repping job was in Ireland, and I was excited about the flight over there. I had only ever been on a plane once in my life before then. The captain strode past looking all command-y and purposeful, and it was a woman. I felt like I had been struck by lightning and that was what I wanted to do. I had no idea about aeroplanes, but give me a smart blue uniform and let me prowl around airports and I thought I'd be a very happy person! (So shallow!) I applied to BA and by some to-this-day unexplained miracle I got onto their cadet scheme, and the rest is history.

Tis the best job in the world, especially to have children with. I only work about 8-10 days a month, and about half of those are night shifts. So I get to spend lots of time at home, and of course the salary is OK too . And now they have even let me start flying the planes, not just poncing around in the airport!

pandora69 · 16/03/2010 19:38

PS when I am away, somewhere dreary like the Bahamas or Rome I sometimes get a lie-in too! How fab is that? And how sad is it that I can get so excited about lie-ins?

rollerbaby · 16/03/2010 20:52

Wah, can't keep up wiv fred! Can't wait til 12 weeks and peeps at work know, then I can be properly lazy and be on mumsnet at work too.

Someone tell me I am a twat, but I am stressing cos my nausea has substantially calmed down in the last 24 hours. Norks hurt like mad though and still tired etc.

AM I NORMAL?

Cosmosis · 16/03/2010 21:01

yes you are normal! I was the same, nausea went at about 10 weeks and I then went menkul worrying.

I haz movements!! Artichoke is moving!! so exciting

Cokie · 16/03/2010 21:03

honey of course you are not normal but your symtoms are. Be pleased that the sickness has potential passed although it could come back in slap you round the face like a wet fish tomorrow

My sickness comes in waves, but the tiredness is there pretty much from 2.30pm until beats me and I just have to go to bed.

Had appt with consultant at C&W today. Feel happier now I am "booked in". Trying to decide if I should go for an early dating scan - not sure I can wait until 12 weeks. What is the general consensus on early scans and when to do them if at all?

rollerbaby · 16/03/2010 21:19

Do it, do it, do it. I wept like a wee baybee at early dating scan. Considering another one as so menkul. Also mr moo has amazon addiction so only fair. That's great about consultant Cokie... is it Nick Wales?

Fanks cos pat lickle baybee artichoke for me.

Are we all watching OBEM? Liking the midwife this week. Sniffing pants a bit much tho.

Cokie · 16/03/2010 21:22

Loving OBEM this week. Richard is cracking me up.

Honey Zoe Penn. Nick Wales did not have space or was potentially away close to due date or something. Did you go to well woman clinic for your scan or someother place?

rollerbaby · 16/03/2010 21:35

Yep opposite at well woman place. lovely lovely sonographer woman who was very reassuring.

rollerbaby · 16/03/2010 22:03

Just cried throughout that programme. Mr and Mrs Rainbow.. very sweet. Emergency section must have been so frightening for the other couple.

Where do people stand on just having OH there? Would you have your mum/close female friend as well?

pandora69 · 16/03/2010 22:11

Shelagh on OBEM this week was clearly a PESH. And gets extra marks for going into hospital wearing her Dubarries!

I would not have my mother anywhere near me in a million years in labour. We are already on frosty terms after she shouted 'give it a rest' while I was on the phone to the hospital. I might have one of my female friends there - she is my guru, we solve each others problems in a very practical way. She'd give me a hug and then tell me to get on with it in the nicest possible way!

pandora69 · 16/03/2010 22:12

Oh, just realised - even more marks for going straight to hospital from a bar!

SilverSky · 16/03/2010 22:45

will watch it tomorrow as husband is out. He wants me to drop him off and pick him up, which is usually fine but now i cant keep my eyes open its a potential ishoo. I may go in my pjs to rate time!

Check out classic husband comment "so when are you starting swimming?"
Me: "eh?"
H:"well thats what pregnant women do isnt it?"

rollerbaby · 17/03/2010 06:51

Ha ha, but doesn't that involve WAXING?!!!

rollerbaby · 17/03/2010 06:53

I feel nice and sick today. Jolly good.

Puppy is regressing to waking time of 6.10, but on the good side no steaming poo to wake up to anymore.

skihorse · 17/03/2010 08:21

Cokie Get as many as you like, our iggy is practically addicted to dildocam scans, and gets one every 4 days.

cossie Artie's on the move? YAAAAAY for you!

rots our pandy has not been stalked located on the other place, however I has her in a third place and could probably tie her down there if needed.

honey You're worrying about symptoms and yet you admit to crying through an entire TV programme? Completely normal.

skater That pic of your cat is very much worthy of a lolcat caption. Any ideas iggy?

carrots You had me howling at "are you a real woman?" - obviously a slight variation will be one of the first phrases I teach Julian.

Like pandora and probably pony I would not have my mother as a birthing partner. In between having to drag her gaze from the racing pages I'd have to labour (ha!) through a monologue of what my amazing sister has (not) achieved. Obviously I'd do it ALL wrong, have "let myself go" and she'd tell the midwife not to bother stitching me up because I won't want any anyway.

OP posts:
pandora69 · 17/03/2010 08:44

WTF are Ski and Rots going on about? Where are you both stalking me? Are you both crazies? (Oh, yeah. Stupid question!) Remember - I am always pandora, but not all pandoras are me .

As for your mother Ski, you must be my sister. Except my sis lives in Yorkshire, it's my bro who lives in for'n parts.

Anyway. On to Wednesday morning sympton watch. Turns out I am getting exactly the same symptoms as last time, only in a different order. The boobies are now ENORMOUS and very, very sore. I have got my maternity pillow out and al sleeping with it wedged between my boobs so the uppermost one (when I am on my side) doesn't sag painfully. I had hoped I'd escaped the sore boobs this time as they happened much sooner last time, and OH had sweetly told me that they had stretched a lot since before I had DD! They got sore and finished being sore before my bump appeared last time. This time I have a lickle bump already, so everything is wobbling in a sore way. I went out for a ride on big horse at the weekend and had to hold onto my belly when we trotted. I think I need one of those bump band sprts thingies.

CUNextTuesday · 17/03/2010 08:47

I'm not having my mother there because she cats bum mouthes at any swearing stronger than 'bloody' and she is also quite an anxious person which can sometimes make her tactless. Not a winning combination I'm sure you'll agree. And besides she lives 250 miles away so is unlikely to be there in time for the polite cough...

pandora69 · 17/03/2010 08:47

Ah yes! And I nearly forgot - stupid fighting cocks have been rehomed. Bobby in particular is going to have lots of laydeez to hump every minute of the day. I only have little Mick Jagger left, so just quiet infrequent cock-a-doodle-dos in the morning. And DD slept past 8am for the second morning in a row. Bliss!

skihorse · 17/03/2010 09:03

rots has a lezzy crush on you pandy - she's always had a thing for gals in uniform. You should hear the stories from meet day.

I'm delighted () to be able to welcome a new member to the Truly Shit Mum club. Here pandora :

Well done on the cock front. That goes out to all of you obviously.

curly I too am afraid to poke too much around the nipple region after the cheggers story. Midnight? Livin' the dream girl! I left my work do at 7 and was in bed by 8:30 or so. Not quite as impressive.

I think that sounds very reasonable about your mum. One of the things I'm really looking forward to is the midwife and her assistant leaving and we can relax just the two (three!) of us and when we're ready we can start telling people what we've done.

silver/curly I'm off to Duinrell in a few weeks which is kind of like a Dutch centre-parcs - I was supposed to be taking Ginger - but instead am taking my tankini and will be doing some floating. I'm sure my adrenaline will start pumping.
