bluesnowfalcon don't worry, I don't think there's such a thing as TMI on an antenatal thread! I have also been having loose stools, but I think this is just a side-effect of my medication in my case.

I think it might be worth checking it out with a midwife as it seems like a significant change to your normal pattern and is obviously concerning you for you to post about it. I'm sure its nothing to be really worried about, but once you've spoken to a midwife you'll know that for sure and then you can relax about it! There should be someone around for you to check this out with today. Do you have numbers written in your notes for who you should call with problems out of hours? In my area there is a number for the on call midwife which you can call at any time. If you don't have this then I would call the maternity ward at your local hospital and ask to speak to one of the midwives, they should be happy to give you some advice.

Thanks for the info I'll have a rummage through my paperwork and see if I can talk to someone - only other thought is that I am a teacher and lots of the staff and children have had dodgy bellies on and offfor about a fortnight so might be a bug - what do you think?

greensnail · 03/04/2010 15:17

Yes, definitely could be a bug, especially as you've been exposed to others with it.

OP posts:
madamefreckle · 03/04/2010 21:29

bluesnowfalcon - Like you, loads of kids at my school have had tummy upsets recently so quite likely to be a bug. Hope it settles soon.

Greensnail - having quite a time of it with all your appointments etc! How are you feeling? Must be a pain, but I'm glad you had a nice day today!

Zeel - I meant to say also that if you have time off before baby arrives it's also worthwhile cooking lots of stuff to put in the freezer so you or your dh don't have to think about cooking too much in the early weeks. I'm quite glad it's (hopefully) going to be a bit more summery so I'll feel more inclined to eat easy-to-prepare cold stuff than cooking warming meals every night!

madamefreckle · 03/04/2010 21:31

By the way - noticed 50% off loads of child carseats at Halfords over this Easter weekend. If you haven't got one yet, this might be the ideal moment!

Saucepanman · 04/04/2010 00:39

Bit late replying but greensnail please dont think you are moaning! You are there loads, with a toddler in tow, and probably very stressed. Hope your tests go well on mon, still awaiting my GTT results.

I have just randomly coughed, swallowed the wrong way and puked in my mouth- bad times!

LittleRobbo · 04/04/2010 21:40

Just clocking in to say Happy Easter everyone We've been to Drayton Manor/ThomasLand today, both DS's loved it,we are all shattered now tho but in a good way! Hope everyone is ok and enjoying guilt free choc intake

bluesnowfalcon · 05/04/2010 11:39

Just wanted to thank greensnail and madamefreckle stomach seems to ave finally settled so guess it was a bug!

Meant to be painting the babies room today but have had to have a coffee break - why do men need sooooo much coffee?

Anyway guess it'll get done by the end of the day!

Hope everyone is enjoying the bank holiday and making the most of the extra time off work

whenwillisleepagain · 05/04/2010 12:18

Wow, for once I can keep up with this thread... guess everyone's off doing Bank Hol things, hope you're having a good one.

I am 32 weeks pregnant tomorrow and have officially reached the stage where I can't be arsed to do very much at all. I seem to have gone back to feeling like I did in first few weeks of being pregnant - off my food (apart from Green & Blacks easter eggs which for some reason are ok), a bit sick, dodgy tummy - and DS is spending longer amounts of time in front of cbeebies. He keeps asking hopefully when nursery will be opening again!

Think the baby has moved into a vertical position of some sort from being transverse - will know more tomorrow as I have a scan to see if the placenta has moved up - apparently it very likely will have done. Am trying not to panic, but given that the latest date I'll have my c-section is at 38 weeks, and the baby might appear before then, it looks like I'll have a baby in six weeks or less. Very scary. As long as things are ok tomorrow I will seriously start getting organised - or maybe just go for a lie down.

mampam are you ok? you had a lot on your plate when you last posted and now you've gone quiet. Can't remember if you were going away for Easter - hope that's all it is.

greensnail · 05/04/2010 15:07

Thanks saucepanman I do feel like a big moaning lump at the moment though. Must try to be more positive. I'm sure no news is good news with your GTT, but fingers crossed for you anyway!

Glad you're feeling better bluesnowfalcon.

Have been at the hospital this morning for repeat bloods and CTG. They were considering keeping me in so I'm feeling very glad to be back home putting my feet up, although I have to go back for clinic tomorrow. Hopefully my bloods will be no worse and they won't want to keep me in tomorrow.

Ooh, 6 weeks or less, that's exciting whenwillisleepagain. I think I'm probably looking at about 6 more weeks to go too, although doctors aren't committing themselves to anything yet re dates for induction. DH is in the loft at the moment, so I might get him to chuck down some baby stuff while he's there so I can start getting sorted!

woofie · 05/04/2010 19:09

Hello all, hope everyone's had a very happy bank holiday weekend...

greensnail - all that time in hospital sounds like a major PITA for you. Is the liver dysfunction something that only happens to you during pregnancy? Think you're well justified in having a big old moan - hope your next bloods come back OK.

Well I think we've finally made our decision about where to have the baby - went to visit a midwife led unit near Hull today, and it's amazing... Single bed rooms, birthing pools, aromatherapy, lavender baths - all on the NHS SInce it looks like we'll be moving house some time during the 4 weeks before my due date, I think a home birth would be less than relaxing... Plus this MLU lets you stay in after the birth for as long as you like, so hopefully will be able to leave dh in charge of ds for 2 or 3 days while I get a bit of sleep and bonding in. Seems a bit mad to drive for an hour when we're practically next to the hospital in YOrk, but I'd really like to make the whole experience a bit less clinical this time. What's everyone else decided?

I'm only working 2 day weeks this week and next, and it's such a relief that unlike you zeel, have no concerns about the empty days of maternity leave Roll on 21st May.

mampam - hope you're OK. COnstant money worries are so draining - been there.

woofie · 05/04/2010 19:15

Oh and bluesnowfalcon - there's been a long bout of unpleasant toilet visits in our house - ds seems to have had it for about 3 weeks on and off - but unaccompanied by any other symptoms. Guess it's just going around atm - glad you're feeling better anyway.

Can't believe some of you only have 6 weeks left! I'm nearly 31 wks and it still feels miles off. I remember this bit dragging last time round too.

greensnail · 05/04/2010 19:37

woofie that midwife led unit sounds fab, although a bit of a pain its so far from your house. Definitely seems sensible not to go for a home birth if you're in the middle of moving. I had to go to delivery suite for my appointment today as it was bank holiday, and I must say I found it a bit depressing. When I had DD I had one of the 2 rooms in the unit that actually have windows which I was really grateful for. The room I was in today had no window and I found it quite depressing just being there for an hour, so am really hoping I don't end up in a windowless room when I go in to have this one.

Yes, the liver problems are just a pregnancy thing. Goes back to normal straight after delivery which is pretty amazing!

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 05/04/2010 20:09

I'm not sure how many of the delivery rooms in my hospital have windows, but since they are having major building work right next to it at the moment (building a new MLU I believe) the view from the window will only be of builders!!

Am with woofie in being that some of you only have 6 weeks left, when I only reach 3rd trimester tomorrow!

And at all this talk of having free time on maternity leave. No such thing here. But when I had my first I got a new mobile phone and spent the few days that I had setting everyone up in it and creating a group for people to text the news to!

Cannot remember what else I've read, but hope that everyone has had a good easter.

muchchocolate · 05/04/2010 20:46

Hi all,

Just a quick post - I was only just about managing to keep up with reading this thread normally and then last weekend our laptop broke so have spent last hour reading through everything I've missed. Didn't realise how lost I felt without mumsnet for a week - torture, even though I don't post much!

Hope everyone is doing ok and sending sympathy to those having a rough time.

Got my 28 week check up tmr and I'm dreading going and waiting with my ds as they can be sooooo slow - last time I waited an hour and my ds is not good at sitting in one place but prefers to run up and down non stop, shouting, singing, and I'm too tired to chase him half the time. Lots of choc buttons I think!

I'm just wishing time away now as I'm big enough that carrying on as normal is getting tough but still 12 weeks to go seems really long!

I'm another with a wedding at 36 weeks - I was supposed to be a bridesmaid but really didn't fancy it as I'm sure I'll look like a whale and not be too keen on lots of photos and will just want to do a lot of sitting down.

woofie · 05/04/2010 20:55

I've agreed to go to a wedding in the Lake District at 39 weeks muchchocolate - hmmm, what are the chances of giving birth in the car going over the Pennines?

Agree csws that maternity leave with older kids is unlikely to be restful It's been so lovely spending more time with ds recently though, that I can't wait for the time off work.

That's so weird about the liver greensnail- and annoying that it ties you to a hospital delivery room if that's not what you'd choose. Great that it should be cleared up in a matter of weeks though.

dinosaurinmybelly · 05/04/2010 22:53

Hello - have just tried to catch up with the thread this afternoon. Great to have some new joiners - sorry to hear that some of you are having a hard time. Yes, please keep posting mampam - you do have an awful lot on your plate at the moment by the sounds of it and we are here to support. You are a real star.

We moved into a new flat just over 2 weeks ago, and then promptly flew to the UK to see family for a 2 week break. Just got back yesterday and feel like I have a mountain to climb before our new place is even close to being functional. Also in a dispute with our old landlord over our security deposit as she wants a new floor and kitchen counter due to very minor scratches - we honestly left the place in great condition considering we were there for 2 years, and it makes my blood boil to even think about having to negotiate this with her, but DH wants to avoid any legal action in the US.

Had a lovely time in the UK and really miss it - managed to catch some of "One born every minute" and I am one of the fans - absolutely loved it. Also loved taking a look around the shops and picked up some lovely things in good old M&S & Matalan. I hope it isn't another year before I make it back.

I'm now 32 weeks and feeling very heavy, but have so much to do before I even start thinking about getting ready for this little one.

NizzyNoodles · 06/04/2010 09:41

Hello

Haven't been around much recently with holidays etc. 30 weeks this week - can't believe the time is going so fast! Only 4 more weeks at work. Everything seems to be fine at the minute although also starting to feel like my bump is getting very heavy.

I hope everyone had a nice Easter - we've got lots of chocolate here and as I'm not on a diet I will "help" the children eat it!

Sorry if I've missed anything but hugs to everyone who needs one.

minimoonumbertwo · 06/04/2010 13:53

Hi All, hope you had a great easter, I really feel like we are getting into the home straight now!!

I am sorry I have forgotten now who has had the GTT test and if anyone does have gestational diabetes? My easter chocolate consumption & enjoyment was marred by the fact that the mw found sugars in my urine on Thursday but I am still waiting for the results from bloods. Should find out tomorrow whether i need to go for the gtt or not.

Mampam hope you're okay? Don't disappear!

perkster · 06/04/2010 15:53

I am back from a relaxing hols in Whitby, no Easter eggs for me but more scones

Mampam hope to hear from you soon and that things are getting better. I agree with minimoo, don't disapper!

Back to work today and I am finding it REALLY hard to concentrate. Hoping immersing myself in minute writing will make the day go quicker.

Rolfaroo has definitely put on weight and I am starting to really feel huge and heavy now. have started to get the alien life form rolls in the tummy now, the other half thinks this is fascinating

The rock and roll lifestyle for us at the weekend, cleaning, sussing out the pram/buggy, food shopping and a trip to the tip to dispose of the double bed and mattress my friends managed to 'break' when they visited earlier this year. Ah, that's what bank holidays are all about!

Hope everyone had a restful, non-stressful break

GibberingGinger · 06/04/2010 16:25

Just checking in. Had busy Easter weekend with brother and his wife. They were pretty hard work. Am glad to get back to work to have a break

Having said that I am struggling to concentrate and am soooooooooo tired that I could fall asleep at my desk. Roll on mat leave.

Did have a funny moment over the weekend though - was standing in a queue in a cafe, and the lady behind me said "can't be long now is it dear, when are you due, a couple of days?" she almost fell over when I said "no, 10 more weeks!"

Realistically I hope it is before then, but it might even be 11 weeks if they let me go full term. Am very jealous of those of you with only 6 weeks to go!

bobolana · 06/04/2010 18:09

Hi All, I hope you had a great Easter break.
It has been long time and this tread is soooo busy.
I have been having some hard time lately - feeling really bloated and huge, baby has moved to a very weired position for the last few days and practically every time I have to move is this sharp pain coming. I went to see the midwife today and she said is all good, but still......
Ladies, how are you doing with the sleeping? When it gets better?
I don't want to sound like I am complaining, I am trying to enjoy every moment of the pregnancy.
How is your sex life? Do you think that the baby feels weird, thinking: What is happening and why is this earthquake?

MrsAlwaysRight · 06/04/2010 18:31

Hi All,

Hope you had a fab long weekend.

Went to BIL wedding on Saturday, DD was bridesmaid and looked gorgeous I was sat on the family table with DD and one of DH's aunts asked in front of every one during the meal if I had been suffering from Thrush as apparently its a "sure" sign that you are expecting a boy. To say I was somewhat by this rather personal question is a slight understatement! Not sure the other guests at the table were that interested in the answer either!

All of DH's aunties think I'm having a boy due to shape of bump. I actually think girl but will have to wait and see.

Quick moan - anyone elses DH being rubbish about getting stuff sorted in preparation for babies arrival? We need to empty spare room, decorate, get new carpet and order bedroom furniture so DD can move in there and out of the cot. The only progress that has been made is stuff that I have done and I am getting fed up of asking him to do stuff and nothing happening! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

A very "me me me" post I'm afraid

greensnail · 06/04/2010 19:35

Hi all!

MrsAlwaysRight I bet DD looked gorgeous, hope you got lots of lovely pictures! at your DH's auntie. My DH is being a bit rubbish too at getting things ready. At least DD is now in her bed, but she still has the cot in her room too which is a bit of a squeeze - I won't be able to get in there with the bump if we don't get it sorted soon!

bobolana when does the sleep get better? - maybe in about a year's time in my experience Sex life is non-existent here, but I'm sure baby wouldn't mind at all. Make a change from all the bowel noises and poking from midwives and doctors

Good news for me that my blood results were slightly improved today, so everyone can stop panicking and flapping. Was absolutely ages at the hospital again though as 3 women fainted during the clinic, so things were running quite late. I think all the stress and exhaustion of the last week or so caught up with me after I'd seen the doctor though, and have spent most of the afternoon in hormonal floods of tears . Feeling much better now DD is in bed and DH is home and looking after me. Hopefully I can get a decent night's sleep tonight and will feel a bit better in the morning.

OP posts:
MrsAlwaysRight · 06/04/2010 20:49

Sounds like things are going well with your DD being in a big girl bed! Glad to hear your blood results were a bit better today. Get yourself off to bed early and like you say hopefully you'll feel better and less hormonal tomorrow!!
