rots how about an Isabella oliver dress? Perhaps a wrap type one? like these

Or could you go to a shop nearby that does nice dresses? Like a boutique type thing?

iggypiggy · 04/03/2010 15:50

This red one is v. nice - especially like the sleeves Red Dress

iggypiggy · 04/03/2010 15:53

givecarrotsachance · 04/03/2010 16:07

Thank you iggs that's really thoughtful of you I'll have a good look.

GrumpyGasper · 04/03/2010 16:32

Tiffany Rose Dresses

picchu

some lovely ones in the above rots. You could order and send back anything that doesn't work. Good luck!

skihorse · 04/03/2010 16:46

Oooh I was just going to say picchu - I was browsing their site earlier and wondering if I could justify buying such a pretty dress for no ocassion...

Btw, I noticed on the front page of mn that wimmins like cunty are undermining the NHS by employing doulas. Fuck your birth plan cunty, every time you employ a doula a nurse cries!

rots For glam occasions aren't you supposed to look something like Catherine Zeta Jones at the Oscars? (Although, excuse me Catherine, is that really a non-underwired bra? And are you supposed to be wearing 4 inch heels when 8 mths preg?).

salander · 04/03/2010 17:29

you guys rock, those links are v fab an helpful fur mee too

fuck knows why am incapable of even googling, blaming preggo hormones

CZJs frock muy impressivo

Ponymum · 04/03/2010 17:34

Went to physio today. She said (excuse the complicated medical terminology here) "The thing is, your pelvis just doesn't like being pregnant."

The worst part is she said my tummy muscles have separated down the middle by about 3 cm!! Help, what is this going to be like in 15 weeks' time?

salander · 04/03/2010 17:38

hells bells pone
NOT eactly what you want to hear
did this happen in your last preg too?

skihorse · 04/03/2010 17:39

sal don't order anything until you've checked the mumnset discount code page!

pony you poor thing. Have they suggested a supportive "girdle" type thing or the like?

OP posts:
salander · 04/03/2010 17:40

ski thanks for the tip mate

Ponymum · 04/03/2010 18:28

I don't think my tummy split apart in my last pg. Maybe it's a second pg thing?

The physio gave me a new support belt which I have christened The Octopus, as it has multiple long velcro bits which I have to fasten up in a complicated fashion. It's supposed to support pelvis, back and bump all at the same time. Basically I have ugly white medical elastic strapping all over me. I don't think there's much chance of me going anywhere looking like Catherine ZJ now.

CUNextTuesday · 04/03/2010 19:12

If the NHS invested in nurses and midwives a bit more, and we had the same sort of care provision that, say, my mum had (convalescence, lieing in, breastfeeding sessions before release from convalescence) then Doulas would not be such big business. I have no qualms I'm afraid. I want my birth to be one of the most, if not the most, magical experience of my life, and the chance of that is going to be greatly enhanced by not having to rely on the care of midwives to achieve this. They are too busy to bother about me, the mother, and what my experience is. In fact I'm doing them a favour by not making those kind of demands on them, leaving them free to attend to other more needy causes.

Don't get me wring, they do a fab job, but it's limited by their numbers and their necessary focus. I bridge the shortfall with my own money.

GrumpyGasper · 04/03/2010 19:25

all the stuff cunty describes in brackets is what I will get when I transfer back to our local MW-led unit. Up to 10 days help and support in a cosy carpeted place, until I feel ready to face motherhood on my own. Doesn't mean I don't worry ponder a little over itself what level of support I will have during the actual birth. But seeing as I should be either in the pool or in the consultant unit reckon, I'm cautiously optimistic. (even if that might be foolish).

I've been to the building where I will give birth. It's pretty small and I reckon any yelling with echo nicely if I start to feel abandoned

rotty good luck tomorrow. What time's your scan? 11.30ish for me. Must dig out my records and check details. I'm assuming there is no need for vast consumption of liquids before the 20-week scan?

CUNextTuesday · 04/03/2010 19:28

I didn't go in empty and the sonographer said it was the best set of shots she'd had in a long time. Not saying that a full bladder is why, but has to help I reckon...

GrumpyGasper · 04/03/2010 19:34

cunty - noted - thank you!

rollerbaby · 04/03/2010 20:05

Girls, I'm flapping. Had a tiny bit of faint blood on wiping today... so feint you could hardly notice. Nothing since apart from some very very mild cramps a couple of hours later. Going for an early scan tomorrow instead of Monday as panicking like a right old woman. Someone please tell me it's fine and I am being a goddamn fool?

GrumpyGasper · 04/03/2010 20:09

it's fine honey. quite a few of us had bleeding in the early weeks. yes, we all ended up at the docs/hospital to check, but it will all be ok. I had cramping from the start until about 12 weeks (when the wind and then the ligament pain took over...). Blood was on wiping and only happened once. Just leftover from implantation

don't panic!

rollerbaby · 04/03/2010 20:23

Thanks Grumpy that is what were hoping. Eating large pizza now to take my mind off matters.

Ponymum · 04/03/2010 20:54

moomoo Pizza is good strategy.

OK, I has finally put a fat belly picture on my profile. So now you can at feel assured that I'm not just a crazy troll pretending to be preggers.

V impressed that ski showed us some flesh on her pics. (But not convinced she is not crazy troll as my tummy looks like this in normal life.)

SkaterGrrrrl · 04/03/2010 21:50

Well done on the new job pony!

Maternity knickers - havent bought any yet but have seen maternity thongs in Next. Need to buy a maternity tankini as we're going on on holiday in April.

Nice boulder holder ski and yes being preggers rocks.

honey please report back on going private! Have appointment with mum's superstyling gynaecologist in a fortnight, parents want me to see him only and he will actually deliver the baby - but need to find out more, like what hospital he's based it and his views on giving me lots of drugs pain relief are.

VAG I will wave regally to you from the posh bit of C & W and toss you KitKats as they wheel me past your room!

carrots and salander I will be watching dress crisis reponses with interest as my sister is getting married a week before my EED in summer and I will look like a whale.

Mememe: Have had spotting for a couple of days which logically I know isnt a big deal but emotionally makes me panic especially after recent scare. Have just trawled the MN archives and there are dozens of stories of bleeding in pregnancy with no harm done. Will ring MW tomorrow to check in but in the meantime, Gawd bless yer, Mumsnet.

SkaterGrrrrl · 04/03/2010 21:53

Oh and honey just seen your post about bleeding, I am in the same boat....Do a MN search for (bleeding pregnancy) and you will see some very reassuring responses. Natural to feel worried but Im sure baby will be fine.

PMSL @ "every time you employ a doula a nurse cries!"

And every time you maturbate, God kills a kitten. Please... won't someone think of the kittens?
