Awww woowa you're not losing it - just hormonal and poorly! Chin up chick! I think we all worry about the change in our relationships - yep we're not going to be able to have many more romantic nights, but hopefully becoming a family will more than compensate and be a lovely new chapter for us all!

Talking of which, congrats to AngelaCarleen! Love the name too - clearly all the February ladies have excellent taste!

Lol at Flyingcloud thinking that sex/falling over combo might help kickstart labour - nutter! Seriously, hope you haven't hurt yourself!!

3+1 Good news about not having surgery - is there a chance it might just go away after you've given birth...?

Only one more week at work for me and today I finally finished my NVQ which is a massive weight off my shoulders, am so chuffed I celebrated with a LOT of bourbons. Mmmmmm...

Nikki87 · 28/01/2010 21:17

congrats Angela, Poppy is such a lovely name, if i was having a girl I might have had to steal the name

mawbroon · 28/01/2010 21:44

Congratulations AC!! I hope you make a quick recovery from the CS. Enjoy snuggling with Poppy.

Who is next??

ktpie · 29/01/2010 08:46

Congratulations to IC and Angela! Exciting now that babies are arriving!

Mine is supposedly due tomorrow , not sure I ever updated myself on the list. I had a conversation with the midwife the other day about why they had changed my dates from 2nd Feb to 30th Jan and she said they shouldn't really change it unless it is over a week out. I'm expecting it to be late.

If I do the slightest thing now I can barely walk, had to go and pick up DH last night as he was having bike issues and I was in a lot of pain afterwards, I think I will avoid driving from now on.

I'd put on 3 stone a couple of weeks ago , think I may weigh myself again if I remember, see what the damage is
Woowa - I would think giving birth will help a lot, it is a fairly big weight loss in one go!

Hope you are all well.

Bimble · 29/01/2010 10:09

Good luck to the feb ladies who've already given birth to their gorgeous little bundles. I also love the name Poppy. I think I'm having a girl too due on the 9th but was convinced I was going into labour 2 days ago. Ktpie I'm defo not going to drive anymore because of this as was dropping my 4yr old at nursery when I started to 'twinge' in traffic on the A20 -that would not have been good! Hoping for a homebirth and have the pool blown up and ready. Went for it on the doggy style this am ifkwim -seemed to work for DD1!!! Hahaha such a wonderful and supportive thread...

Bimble · 29/01/2010 10:11

Meant to add an additional word of support for poor Woowa -sounds like you're having a shite time but the more you can rest up the better!!

mawbroon · 29/01/2010 10:52

Ooooo, that does sound painful woowa.

Regarding the instant weight loss after giving birth, yes, obviously you will be a good bit lighter once the baby/placenta/amniotic fluid etc is out, but it probably won't feel like it!

I also found that the post birth belly made me feel that I hadn't lost an ounce!!

I guess you just need to give standing/walking a go when you feel up to it and see how it goes.

Having a peaceful day today. I will go with MIL to collect ds from nursery, then he is being looked after until about 6pm so I can MN and watch telly and relax a bit. I am very lucky to still be able to get almost a full night's sleep at the moment, so I don't really need to nap through the day.

My ankle is continuing to improve, but I am impatient to move on to the next part which is the removable boot. I just have to wait I guess. My appointment is 16th Feb, so I just have to work on weight bearing between now and then. What a difference it has made being able to stand on two feet without crutches.

westlondongirl · 29/01/2010 10:56

Congrats to Immaculada and AngelaCarleen!! How exciting!

Woowa I totally understand what you mean. I swing on a daily basis between wanting to have the baby and cuddle him to wanting more time together with DP. Sorry you aren't well too. Plus i'm terrified that despite all the books i've read that I still know nothing about how to care for him. Hoping that DP and I will learn together on that one.

I have become a major crier too which i'm not normally. The MW forgot she had an appointment with me last week. Because I had been ill with asthma I was worried about the LO so when I hung up after she said that nobody could see me that day I promptly burst into tears on the poor receptionist!

Looking forward to more birth announcements.

becks130 · 29/01/2010 11:53

congratulations Angela and IC I hope your both recovering well.

I have had a hellish week, son had a tummy bugh so was very sick for 2 days and my lil princess had decided to stop moving. I was in day assessment yesterday and they said all was fine, she is very far down and I have been having frequent bowel movements for 3 days! MW thinks it may be a sign she'll come soon. I've not felt any movement all morning so I'm starting to worry AGAIN, MW has said that if I still feel no movement soon I'll have to go in again. Is anyone else having the same problem??

GuernseyFrench · 29/01/2010 12:34

I think things are going up one gear! I'm now having cramps (I don't dare calling them contractions ) every 10mn!
They last for a minute or so.
Plus my backaches are killing me!

I've pre-warned DH, who asked me to seat on a towel just in case my waters go! (soo caring!!)

I'm waiting a bit longer and then will call the mw

flyingcloud · 29/01/2010 12:49

GF - good luck!!

Becks, poor you, sounds like a stressful week.

I think my bmup has shrunk.

GuernseyFrench · 29/01/2010 12:57

Flying my bump has also reduced because I think the baby has moved down.
Thanks for the good luck, now it's a game of waiting and seeing what's going to happen next

woowa · 29/01/2010 14:18

Oh you're all so nice! I though I might be nearing labour this morning when I cleaned the kitchen and especially the fridge - i couldn't believe how revolting it had managed to get! ew! But that surge of energy has gone, and now I'm back to being a grump...grumped at my sister for asking if I was still pregnant, grumped at a man who came o the door selling new driveways. grump grump grump. Going back to lie down.

Guernseyfrench that IS exciting!! can't wait to hear if it's real!!

OP posts:
mawbroon · 29/01/2010 14:31

Aw, becks I hope you get over your bug soon. Horrible at the best of times but especially yuk just now I would imagine. I hope you wee one starts wiggling for you soon. I have the opposite problem. Mine is doing gymnastics just now and I get the most weird shaped bump from time to time. It's like he wants to be head down, but then decides it's more comfortable head up in my funny shaped uterus!!

GuernseyFrench - every 10 mins you say? Will look out for your birth annoucement soon

I took three teeny tiny steps today without my crutches. It's hard to know how much weight I am putting on my foot whilst leaning on the crutches, but these tiny steps must have been all my weight. It's too much for now as it was pretty uncomfortable, but not agony, so I think i have been putting quite a lot of weight on it already. One day at a time.

flyingcloud · 29/01/2010 14:42

I just raided the freezer for a really old ice-cream (coffee flavoured, on a stick, with chocolate around it). I am so desperate for chocolate right now.

woowa - you sound like me - I generally turn into a raging harridan (well more of a heavily sighing, groaning, moaning witch) around 2pm just as DH gets home (from having worked six hours outside in the rain) and complain at him for everything. I got really arsey today with the guy who is doing the gas safety check on my house in England because he a) called me to remind me a few weeks ago that it needed doing BUT he called at nine o'clock at night and he sounded like he'd had a few and b) he called back today remind me again (I'd forgotten) and to complain that the tenants had called him 'repeatedly', which I know isn't true.. I think I was being pretty unreasonable but he really got my back up...grrr.

Today is last day of working from home but I still have a lot to do so might have to carry on until baby arrives.

39 weeks today.

ktpie · 29/01/2010 15:30

GF - how exciting! Sounds like things could be getting going.

Mawbroon - you've reminded me of the deflated space hopper tummy I had straight after DS was born, went down pretty quick last time, hoping it does the same this time

I kept bursting into tears the other day for no apparent reason. These lovely hormones.

catinaboot · 29/01/2010 15:36

Please can everyone take care with their tumbles and running about!!!! I bust my ankle in the kitchen and my weightiness just all fell on one side and busted it to b***y!

I love reading everyone's posts and the new arrivals, even though I'm a new arrival to the club, you all make me smile and it's lovely to hear everyone going through all the same(ish) stuff.

I'm 38 weeks on Sunday and am very keen for the baby to be late... but not too late! Oh the lack of control! What do you do if you want the baby to be late... atleast if you want it to be early you can fill your time bonking and eating pineapple.

I felt really sorry for myself post-ankle break but DH not entertaining it at all. 'You're not crying again, are you?'. Luckily we have all the chrimbo choc still about, plus well-wishing chocolate/biscuits so I can just get really lardy sitting on my bum all day. The mw yesterday asked if I did a lot of exercise on my abs before pregnancy!!!! Very bizarre as my belly was always the place any extra weight would go... and there was always extra weight! I've got a physio coming tomorrow to try and work the ankle and get it fixed in record time. He just wrote to ask if I'd got scales so no doubt will have a big weigh-in tomorrow. I dread to think!

GuernseyFrench · 29/01/2010 17:16

I went to the ward to get check and mw said they are not contractions but BH because I'm able to speak during them.

I'm so because I really thought something was happening!

But the good news are that she thinks because the BH are so frequent labour may happen before Tuesday (induction day) and it's 3/5 engaged.

What's annoying is that she that said that the labour may have started but because of the risk of infections nad me been quite relax, she wouldn't do an internal to see if I was dilated!

The follow up later on or tomorrow...

I hope everybody else is doing fine, any news from Clappedout and Mamaloco?

sunnybump · 29/01/2010 17:34

Sounds like things are moving along nicely GF, how exciting. Sorry you've been poorly Becks, hope you can get some R&R before baby comes along. Woowa sounds like birth is going to be the best cure for your horrible heel thing, hope it comes soon for you. Glad you can get some weight on your ankle Mawbroon and Catinaboot you shouldn't be too far behind, fingers crossed.

Rant Alert- Bloody hell this country is getting more like America every day, one person makes a mistake and the rest batten down the hatches incase it ends up like some horrible legal case or people start loosing their jobs. I can't be arsed with the full (boring) story, it's been so bloody stressful, but after 10 days of not having a clue where to go when I go into labour and a wee mistake snowballing out of all proportion, there is now an actual plan. Finally I have somewhere to give birth, hooray!

I know it all might change but at least we have somewhere to go when the contractions start now.

Now I can get back to crying for no reason rather than crying cause I don't have anywhere to have my baby

woowa · 29/01/2010 17:54

I have to admit to laughing now that i've read all those posts. Not out of lack of sympathy, but because we're all such basket cases at the moment! What a bunch of mad bumpy women. We have last NCT in the morning, i'm the most PG by about 3 weeks, and the only grump there, so far. I'm really hoping not to be the only puffing and grunting one tomorrow!!

Sunnybump that is such a relief! There's nothing quite like knowing - especially so late! Phew.

GF for you. I can imagine i'll be in and out of ward in a similar situation. The MWs here said they usually know women are truly in labour when they can't speak through a contraction, which fits with what you said.

I'm a little worried about totallyandutterlypaninie she posted on childbirth last night very worried about her baby. Am going over there now to see if she's reposted today as she hadn't...

OP posts:
woowa · 29/01/2010 17:56

No, she hasn't posted today, which I guess means she's either gone in to hospital to be checked out and reassured, or is avoiding the masses of info on the post. Hope she and her LO are ok.

chinook · 29/01/2010 20:18

becks130 in the last 2 weeks my baby has had about 4 days where the movements were much less and what there was was much more subtle. At my midwife visit yesterday she couldn't feel a head at all, only shoulders, as he is deeply engaged, like you, so I think this is the reason why the movements are much less. It is worrying though and I am beginning to want this baby to make an appearance. The midwife said that being fully engaged isn't a sign of imminent labour though, unfortunately. Hope your baby turns some somersaults for you soon.

I cannot believe I am coming down with yet another cold. I was just looking longingly at the Beechams in the medicine cabinet and realised I have totally forgotten what drugs you can and cannot take when breastfeeding. Must go and do some research.

Congratulations to IC and angelacarleen and good luck GF sounds like you might be next......

fiziwizzle · 29/01/2010 20:20

Poor Totally. It is such a worrying time. I think that my sleeplessness may be partly because I am becoming more and more convinced that there is something wrong with my baby. It has never been a big mover and today, for instance, I have felt it on about four occasions (like just now ). I'm convinced it's my fault for drinking too much before finding out (I was a bit of a hectic socialiser... I drank a lot ). Even though if someone else had the same fears I would tell them that embryo hadn't even implanted at that stage and not to worry. I've mentioned the little movement to the MW on practically every visit and she has just said if I'm worried to go to the labour ward and be monitored. Which I have, once, and after an hour of stubborn non-movement baby finally kicked a bit and they let me out. I would be in the labour ward every day if I went in whenever I was worried...! So Becks I can thoroughly sympathise.

Phew sorry for big rant. Good to get it off my chest though.

GF surely it is pre-labour, so is probably dilating your cervix so that when real labour starts it will be nice and fast? Are you bouncing on your ball, eating pineapple and curry and persuading your DP to step up to the mark?!

flyingcloud · 29/01/2010 20:49

Poor totally

mawbroon · 29/01/2010 21:44

I hope totally is ok.

DH is out tonight. He went out for lunch with his work colleagues and isn't home yet. He was going to take the car and not drink, but I told him to go and have fun because he doesn't go out much, and soon he is going to have to be sober at all times just in case I go into labour early.

Managed fine to get ds to bed on my own and am enjoying being able to MN and having control of the remote. On this occasion, I have used the remote "off" button. Bliss.
