Hey there

DC2 due in March and with all antenatal classes now booked up, are there any mums to be who are due/had their babies who can share their experiences of Salford Hospital formerly Hope Hospital?

Thanks

Had a couple of friends given birth there and not heard anything bad. As I always say on these threads, your experience just depends on the day and which staff are on duty etc. Your experience probably won't mirror anyone elses.

Where do you live? I had my three at St Marys in town and live in Whitefield.

Thanks suwoo, I live in Worsley so had all midwifery care locally. She's been great but my experiences of the hospital have been limited, how was St Mary's (not that I'm changing!).

I phoned Salford Royal about NHS antenatal classes this morning and was also told they were fully booked up BUT I was also told my name would be put on a cancellation list which was very long, and would result in them putting on extra classes, probably over a weekend, and someone would get back to me after 17th February - so it might be worth giving them another ring? I don't know if that would be soon enough for your March delivery though

Just had my baby at salford royal a week ago today, I can not speak highly enough of the staff everyone was brilliant. Also went on the weekend antenatal class ran by pam it was also brilliant and really empowers you for the birth. I would say the nearer to your due date that you do the class the better. I did mine the beginning of nov i was due 22 dec but baby was over due and didnt arrive till 4th jan. and the classes made me feel really confident and positive about the birth i just wanted to give birth straight after them. lol

Hope this helps. If you want to know anymore i will check thread again or you can message me.

Does anyone know anything about planning a homebirth through Salford? I'm living in London atm, but will be moving up to Manchester around 30 weeks or so... Don't know where we will be living but probably somewhere around Hope, since that's where DP will be working! Worrying a bit about getting my homebirth...
