Hi everyone, I'm new to Mumsnet and am hoping for some advice/guidance from you!

I am expecting my first baby (a girl) in March and have lived in Bounds Green for about 18 months. I moved to London over 10 years ago but many of my fiends have moved away now and my closest friends and family have remained in the Midlands. As such I don't have much of a support network...

I am really excited about becoming a Mum but do have pangs of anxiety that me and my babe are going to be a bit isolated! I have just passed my driving test so we are at least mobile and I'd love to meet some Mums and babies for us to become friends with.

I am starting maternity leave on February 18th (edd March 18th) and would like to join some groups before and after the baby comes.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Sorry for the long post, J x

Hi

Sorry nobody has answered your post yet, we're normally more helpful than that!!

I don't live in north London, but I suggest you contact your local childrens centre - they'll have loads of info about baby groups, activities etc. Also the NCT will have a branch in north London. Otherwise just ask new mums you see out and about if they can recommend any groups to you.

Good luck!!

Hello-

Have a look at the notice board at your local library. Libraries often run groups like baby bounce and rhyme. And your local NCT might well run a bumps and babes meet up, which you can go along to before your dc is born. Oh, and think about joining us on the March 2010 antenatal thread (sorry on phone so can't do link). There's quite a few Londoners on it and they might have other suggestions.

Hello

Congrats on your pregnancy! I'm also due in March (though don't know what we're having) and live in North London - Finsbury Park. I second Sariska's advice about checking out the library/NCT/playgroups at church halls etc - you should meet plenty of other mums that way. I'm also loving my NCT classes, as I'm making friends that way too.

Come and join us on the March 2010 thread. Lots of other mums to be in March, and great for sharing experiences/getting advice.
