hello all!

welcome mustbemadno3- tink everyone has started iver there and then joined here!

i am still suffering froma chest infection...seem to ahve been ill this whole pregnancy, havent been sleeping at night and neither has Ds so were both off to the doctors agai on wed morning.

anangel- sorry to hear about your dog and hope the nightmares end soon, i used to suffer terribly...then found it was to do with the medication i was on.

hope everyone is well.

LuckyC · 25/01/2010 17:10

Hobnob Thanks! Checked notes I DO have anterior placenta. Can tell DH who is a bit glum about not feeling any movement yet, even when I am going 'ow... ow....' as delicate little rugby-playing daughter energetically boots around.

Hi mustbemad Angel postpone the pram, you must be absolutely done in. Shame, when will you know about infection clearing up?

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 25/01/2010 17:37

LuckyC - yeah, I didn't realise at the time that induction was meant to be more painful so I felt a bit pathetic until I read up more about it on MN afterwards.

Angel - so sorry about your dog, it must be awful When will you know about the infection?

Mustbemadno3 - welcome to the thread

CornishSAMum - you should still be able to join the Facebook group, do you need an invite?

schipo · 25/01/2010 18:20

Can someone describe symptoms of heart burn for me pls? I keep getting a sore throat and I'm wondering if its got something to do with acid reflux and so heartburn??

Suey, nice to see you back
Hope you have a much happier birth exp this time!
Also you cornishSA!

Newbies always welcome to jump in as far as I can tell...

Heffa - I hadn't made the connection between inductions and more painful births. I'm off to do some searching now...

AnAngelWithin · 25/01/2010 18:34

thanks all. Got to take her back next monday. Just got to go from there I suppose. Going to go out and buy some dressing tomorrow in case it kicks off. sob.....and yes luckyc, i am, as you say, done in!

welcome to mustbemadno3. I felt like your name once, and here I am on number 5 haha.

Hi Suey Waves, glad you are ok was starting to worry about you. 1 month mat leave, you are super woman!

welcome mustbemad lots of us on here but the more the merrier, will hopefully mean lots of postnatal support for everyone rather than a really quiet one!

Schipo are you getting a sore throat in the morning? I was and worked out it was probably me breathing through my mouth a lot more due to nasal congestion, I always get it in pregnancy - apparently its an obvious sign you are preg!
the heartburn I have had in the past is more like a real burning sensation in between my boobs and in my back, really sore and uncomfy.

Hi to everyone else!

pigleychez · 25/01/2010 20:45

James- Glad everything went well at the hospital.

Pamlet- Glad things have a slightly better outlook now.

Suey- welcome back

Cornish- Dont be a stranger We are always happy to answer any questions/queries you may have

Morph- Glad bump is ok after your fall. I too seem to be bumping into door handles and things. Seem to be covered in bruises!

FB page is always open to new mummies Search for Mumsnet May Mummies 2010.

Angel- to hear about your dog.
Take it easy too, you sound very busy!

Mustbemad- Welcome aboard

happenedagain- Hope you and DS get better soon.

Heffa- Being my first birth ive got nothing to compare against but my induction with DD isnt something I wish to repeat in a hurry!

not much to report here. Busy weekend doing odd jobs.
Looking forward to picking up the new car tomorrow. DH realised yesterday that hes got a bit of a raw deal out the new car. We traded in his almost new car against the new one and will have my 51 reg to get to and from the office till he moves to the london office in April. So he pays for a nice new car but gets too drive an even older one than before! I told him its me carrying his baby and going through the labour (again) so its only fair!

schipo · 25/01/2010 21:51

brb, my sore throats usually come in evenings - maybe it's just a bit of cold virus, just the way it comes and goes seems a bit odd.

anyway angel and itshappenedagain - hope you get good nights sleep

sweetkitty · 25/01/2010 21:55

love the icons

Wee sleekit cooerin timerous beastie or Happy Burns Night to you all I won't be eating haggis, neeps or tatties though.

DP just said to me "SK what do think of Harriet as a name?" me "DP Harriet is a GIRLS name!" DP "oh I forgot we were having a boy!" I think the name is still in shock. Still no idea on the actual name. It's DD2's 4th birthday tomorrow just finished wrapping her presents, her labour was a good one 2h 30m, waters didn't go just contractions, gas and air at home, out she came and went straight on the boob even before the cord was cut, got cleaned up we all went back to bed, she was born at 4am and I was up putting on a washing at 9am, no tears nothing, after going overdue and having SPD I was on top of the world when she came out. She was 9lbs 3ozs as well and 10lbs 6 days later think she stayed on that boob bless her.

Pigley - on the new car, we are going to see one on Wednesday.

brightred - was it you that was asking about cars? How many seats do you need, you are on number 3 yes?

itshappenedagain and angel - hope you are both feeling better soon, illnesses seem to last forever and are much worse when you are pregnant don't they?

mustbemadno3 - pull up a chair and join in, we are a chatty bunch but do join in

Angel - plenty of time for the pram, so sorry to hear about your dog too know what that feels like

CornishSAMum - of course you can contribute and ask all the question you want I am sure I did first time around

No such issues with maternity leave here I am still on it from DD1 I never thought I wouldn't want to go back but once she was born I just couldn't bear leaving her for 13 hours a day even 3 days a week, luckily DP could get a transfer back to Scotland so we sold up and moved. Downside is my career is completely up the river now but you cannot have it all can you? I just don't think about it and keep having babies

Right am off to raid the kitchen again

mustbemadno3 · 25/01/2010 22:11

Thank you for letting me join! Question... The due date thread with everyones dates, is that your age and age of children you may have? Know I am probably being thick, but do you put yourself on it? If so how? Sorry know that probably sounds stupid but ... Iam! Plus I have a serious case of baby brain!

MoggMum · 25/01/2010 22:35

Hi mustbemad the date thread is your age and number of chldren (ie mine is 38, #1 because this will be my first). To add yourself to the list just find the most recent version (don't use the one at the top of this page as it's out of date) and copy and paste in to your message. Or just put your details in your next thread and someone will add you on

sweetkitty it's nice to hear a positive birth story; think I'll put that on my birth plan - 2 1/2 hour labour followed by boob, bed then laundry on by 9am - fab

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 26/01/2010 09:46

Pigley - yes, I would rather not be induced again! I keep wavering between section or vaginal birth atm and thinking that the one thing I don't want is to be induced again.

SK - I really want a haggis but can't buy them down here Unless Waitrose have them in specially, will have to go and check.

A friend of mine gave birth to her second recently and it was 20 mins . She woke up in the morning and said to her DH 'ooh, I'm getting twinges, maybe it will be today!', went to the loo and baby was born!

Hollyoaks · 26/01/2010 10:43

heffa - thats the way to do it, hopefully she wasn't sitting on the toilet at the time

James - glad everything was all right at the hospital.

Hobnob - my 12 week scan said my placenta was posterior but the 20 weeks scan said anterior. Can the placenta move position? Plus, me and my dh are feeling and seeing lots of movements and have been since about 16-17 weeks, is this strange if the placenta is at the front. Could the sonographer have got the placenta location wrong?

Our night out minus dd went really well, enjoyed a Japanese meal with friends where they cook all of the food in front of you. Went home had a full nights sleep and a lovely long cuddle in the morning. Bliss! We've already started thinking about who will take 2 for an overnight visit

CornishSAMum · 26/01/2010 10:45

TwentiethCenturyHeffa Thanks, I found the group but my DH and I share a FB account t so look out for Steve Thorn joining the group! I love the two baba?s on there holding each other!

pigleychez Thanks for the encouragement and enjoy your nice new car!

schipo Thanks for the welcome back. I get hectic heartburn and acid reflux - symptoms are pain over heart area and it comes up and burns especially when I lie down. When I had the acid reflux real bad I did get a sore throat and found that drinking 1 tsp/tbsp honey in hot water helped soothe my sore throat. It was so bad it was keeping me up at night and doc put me on omeprazole for acid reflux and I use double action Gaviscon (pink bottle)!

Angel Strength to you with your pooch, our thoughts are with you.

sweetkitty never asked questions before on here but will try participate more. Must be lovely to be still on Mat leave and have the next one due, that is what I am aiming for if we?re lucky enough once this one is born. Agree with Mogmum - can I have one of those births too please?

mustbemadno3 Welcome!

Hobnobfanatic · 26/01/2010 11:19

Hollyoaks -I wouldn't worry. I can feel the baby loads now too - but it was just a lot later than I did with my first, where the placenta wasn't anterior. And all the tiny, fluttery movements that start early on - I had none of that this time round. Just the big kicks now that baby has grown!

How odd that it was different on two scans, though. Never heard of that before - but I'm no expert!

Angel- so sorry to hear about your dog. I'm glad she's still eating and wagging - she's clearly happy still. Hope it continues.

Morph - I have become really clumsy too. Falling, slipping everywhere. I just feel (and look) like an elephant!

Welcome to the newbies. Hope everyone else is okay. I've still done NO preparation for this baby. Really must get some stuff this weekend, I guess.

Does anyone know about mattress cleaning? The cot mattress is 10 years old now - it was second-hand when I had it for my DD1, now 6yo. Am I better just to get a new one, do you think, or can you get them cleaned? I don't like the idea of dry cleaning - horrible chemicals. Maybe some kind of steam cleaning?

brightredballoon · 26/01/2010 11:26

Hi

Hollyoaks your night out sounds great, you have reminded me we have a similar type restaurant in Town which is a great night out, will try and go there before this one comes along!
I think its really worthwhile getting a babysitter booked every so often, it is a revelation going somewhere as an adult in your own right without using lifts due to pushchairs etc. DH and I had a midweek day like that before Christmas and it was really good for our relationship too!

SK yes I was asking about those wee booster seats, if I used one of those I could fit all three children across my back seats in my car but personally I prefer the added safety benefits of the high back boosters. Just wondered if anyone used the wee booster seats?

Piglez your DH will like the story about my DH then, 4 yrs ago he had a 2 seater car and now when we change his current one he will be the owner of a people carrier! what a transformation in 4 years! I have promised him I will work hard at saving etc so when the kids are old enough he can return to his wee sporty no (but lets face it that is just a carrot under the nose, it wont happen, we will never afford that again)

sweetkitty · 26/01/2010 12:33

brightred - I haven't used one, we have high back boosters as well, I think they are for 6+ aren't they? The problem with the boosters is buckling and unbuckling the seat belts, it's such a pain. We are the same except in 6 years have went from a 2 seater, then a Clio, then a CMAX now looking at a Galaxy!

Mattresses - personally I would get a new one rather that use a 10 year old one sorry. DD3 has DD2's old cot and DD2 was only in it 2 1/2 years but we got a new one, Ikea do good mattresses quite cheap, it's the sick and erm everything else that gets absorbed IYSWIM, I didn't like the mattress that came with the cot anyway, the Ikea one is much more comfotable IMHO. DS will be having the same one as DD3 though, it's about a year old.

Den26 · 26/01/2010 14:49

Hi All - gosh its hard to keep up on here!

ML - glad to hear your home.

Angel - sorry to hear about your dog

Mustbemad - welcome!

Thought i'd share my dream with you all. Last night i dreamt that it was May and i had went into Labour. Went to the hospital which was full of all you guys coming and going with all our different due dates, being able to put faces to names!!! weird huh?!!

I began my baby shopping at the weekend in Ikea! Had a minor flip out - "am i tempting fate, doing this soo early?" Calmed down and continued to spend lots of money!! Got cot, mattress and chest of drawers with removable changing table. Also bought loads of accessories for the room - have gone for lots of primary colours - can't wait to get room ready - leaving that for a while though.

Hope all having a nice tuesday I am sooo tired today.

pigleychez · 26/01/2010 15:15

Heffa- I know what you mean about being indecisive. I would love to know if the Induction did play a big part or was it just the combination of things.. Ie being back to back, the shoulder dystosia. I hate the uncertainty

20 mins! I want me one like that!

Hollyoaks- glad you enjoyed your night out. It sounds lovely! We have only had about 2 evenings out since DD was born 18mths ago! Never an overnight!

Hobnob- I too personally would buy a new one after 10 years.
As SK said Ikea or I bought DD's cot mattress from here which is lovely quality.

BRB- Poor DH Ive given my car a good hoover out today so that DH doesnt start take it to work tommorow with half my Aunties farm in the back!

Den- Love the dream
Glad you enjoyed the baby shopping. I loved doing for DD and am missing it all this time.
DD has white kids girly furniture from Ikea, and her room looks lovely We will be off there again soon now we have the new car to get a chest of drawers ect for the new nursery.

SquirtsMum · 26/01/2010 15:34

Hope tuesday is being kind to all you lovely ladies out there

Welcome to all the new peeps and ello to the rest, no time to read through every page as work is calling

Just a mini update - still no word on the heart specialist, but am looking at it as no news is good news IYKWIM.
And DP had taken to talking to Squirt like Mr Bean until LO decided it wasn't appreciated and proceeded to boot him in the cheek
We've still not bought anything for Squirt as we know we'll be moving in the nxt month or so and would rather not have to lump it all over to a new home, but having said that we're flying back home at the end of the week and i know my mum will have bought the entire contents of Mothercare for us to bring back, bless her

xxxx

memorylapse · 26/01/2010 16:47

just a quick post as Im ridiculously tired

completed the dreaded tax return on sunday..thank goodness..now just need to pay my NI bill.

re induction..I was induced with my last three..labour was fast and furious as you dont seem to get the slow build up..dd2 was an hour and a half from start to finish...Im being induced at 37/38 weeks this time.

Cant beleive Im 26 weeks today..only a week from 3rd tri

got my first growth scan next week and had one yesterday..baby was opening and closing her hand..kind of making a fist..bless

cupcakefairy · 26/01/2010 17:19

Just a quick one to say schipo is your sore throat like a burning? I've had it for weeks, at first I thought it was jst eating spicy food that hadn#t gone down right or something but then googled it and realised heartburn/acid reflux can happen in throat during pregnancy..mine is horrific and feels like my neck is going to burst into flames. Ask doc for gaviscon it is a godsend

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 26/01/2010 17:30

Den26 - loving the dream! I keep having really racy ones atm . I also had a really vivid dream the other night about having a huge horrible argument with my family - I woke up crying and exhausted from all the (imaginary) emotional wrangling.

Pigley - yes, I wish I could see into the future! My MW was talking to me about how I might have a lovely straightforward birth next time and be home the same day etc and now I'm wavering about a section but I think that realistically the chances of that are pretty low. Am seeing the consultant tomorrow so will see what they say.

LuckyC · 26/01/2010 17:37

Just been to see the midwife for 25 weeks; baby's fine, but she thinks I have SPD and is sending me off to the physio.

Any advice to tide me over until the physio recommendation would be great. Suey I think I remember from a previous thread that you have some experience of SPD? It is bloody killing me quite painful. Appalling clicking noises from pelvis every time I move, too. Sigh.

God, also, showed midwife 20-week pics of the baby and she inadvertantly blurted out, 'Oh my God! Look at the size of her feet!' DH had size 9 feet at 9 years old and was called Putter at school. HORRORS for a girl.

Thing that worries me is that from what I can see she also has DH's vast Concorde-style nose, which is fantastic on him, but again, horrors for a girl! Midwife steadfastly refused to comment on nose!

Hope she sorts out her proportions before she appears...

LuckyC · 26/01/2010 17:38

inadvertently, apparently.

and why won't this work for me?
