Good morning all! I am back in the land of the living and am trying to catch up with all your posts. Can't believe we have had no twins yet! I've had a letter through the post asking me to call the clinic on Wednesday at 12.30pm. Hopefully I can book the scan then!!

So sorry to hear that some of you are so so poorly, after spending 2 days unable to even keep water down and as a pathetic heap in bed I have no idea how some of you have coped. You are so brave!

My OH called the dr yesterday and I have been given swine flu treatment which he collected yesterday, but have woken up feeling so normal I don't think it was swine flu at all so won't be taking the medication I don't think.

Good luck for any upcoming scans x

Hello all - thank you so much for the warm welcome. A quick explanation of my name for those of you who asked - my 2.5yr old came with us to the scan on Monday and when I asked him what he saw on the screen, he said it was a dinosaur....
He was 20mths old when his li
ttle brother arrived and we read the Sam Lloyd book " What is in your tummy Mummy?" which is where he got the idea that it might be a dinosaur. I highly recommend this book to any of you who are expecting a second baby and want to read something through with your DC.

Middledaughter - like everyone else, I'm so sorry you had a bad experience with your midwife. I did find the first appointment is very much about formfilling though - so maybe it is worth seeing how it goes at the next appointment. I agree though that her feedback on swineflu, and her approach to breastfeeding is unacceptable, although for both sujects you will find a wealth of advice on here and also with the wonderful organisations already mentioned like La Leche. I breastfed both my boys and I found it very tough. I didn't seem to have enough supply for them, and I fretted so much that both times this affected my supply further. I intend to get as much advice as I can this time way in advance of the arrival of the little one. I was forced to supplement both my boys with formula after their 8 week appointments because they were both underweight and I'm happy that I didn't throw in the towel completely, but continued to breastfeed alongside the formula for 5 months until my supply dwindled to nothing. I think it's important to know that you can mix it up, although obviously it effects the breastmilk supply if you do that. My experiences have taught me to prepare in advance of the birth, sort out what support you will have and to relax in the knowledge you will do what you can. Neither my mother nor my 2 sisters breastfed, and they were constantly going on about why was I putting myself to all this trouble when I could just give the child a bottle. It was wearing, and I'm glad I ignored it for the most part, but wish I'd had a support network in place.

So sorry for those of you who are still feeling so ill - hoping the 2nd trimester is kind to us all...

Hello everyone and welcome newbies.

It is great to read that the scans have been going well. It can be such a stressful thing...

I am off for mine tomorrow at 4:30 but feeling exceedingly nervous/cautious. I keep thinking that I am not sick enough or not tired enough. I suppose that it will be a massive relief to know one way or the other.

I still haven't told our dcs but I did tell my parents. They are coming over for visit over Christmas and I thought that it would be better for them to know regardless of the outcome.

Life had been frantic here as dh is required to be away from tomorrow (pre-scan) until December 19. This means that he will not be able to attend his own PhD Grad Ceremony in London on the 17th so we are all feeling discouraged. It seems ridiculous that after so much hard work on his end and sacrifice on ours that we don't get the celebration at the end. Hey-Ho.. We will have our own party when he returns.

Hope the morning sickness starts to abate for those that are really suffering (but only enough not to cause anxiety like it has here ).

Blimey I didnt realise so many of us have Hyperemesis. I agree, it is truely the worst I have ever felt. Im going back 2 work 2moro after 3 weeks off from HG. Bit nervous about returning as they all think Ive just had morning sickness. Im so bitter about having HG that I'll probably eat them alive. I know I shouldnt be bitter, but I guess I am. DH wants me to talk to midwife on wednesday about AND, could be possible I suppose.

I can be taken off the twin list, when I had my scan at 8weeks at the EPU there was defo only one bean in there, phew!

Hope you all have a lovely sunday

Hi everyone.

God, yes, there are a lot of pukers on this thread.
MrsD, headache is probably dehydration or just the strain of throwing up maybe? Horrid.
I can't wait to have this baby so it is all over, though the sickness for me is easing off a bit now, thank God.
LadyEmma, I am also going back to 'work' tomorrow and am nervous about coping. I say work but am SAHM. I mean I am having my first day alone caring for ds in 7 weeks. I am worried, but want to give it a go now I am on the mend. Hope it goes okay for you.

Hello to all the newbies.

Is anyone else still nursing, my ds is now saying other boob booby little bit sore, honey that is an understatment. I'm lucky in that I have a rl friend who tandem fed but can't really moan too much to anyone else or they just point out I can stop at 20mnths. we were down to 2/3 feeds a day but he's got a cold so feeding more again. However, on the very cute front when I said they were sore because they are growing he said like baby in tummy. then when on to say that baby would like booby and biscuits am now slightly worried he may choke his new sibling to death

Ouch, gallstones.

Upsydaisy, I didn't nurse during pg, but my bf did (twice) and found it very sore in teh first trimester. In the second it was back to normal though.

Report
greensnail · 29/11/2009 16:45

I'm bfing DD (11months). CantSleepWontSleep is already tandem nursing too.
I was quite sore in the first few weeks of pregnancy but seems to have settled down a bit now . DD has also upped her feeding over the last few weeks as she's been poorly, and am needing to feed her each time I need to give her eyedrops at the moment!

Its good to have some support from a friend who tandem fed in rl. I don't know anyone who has tandem fed but my mum was feeding my brother until she was 4 months pg with me, so she's quite a good support for me. Not entirely sure how she'll be when (if) I'm feeding both of them though.

Hi everyone, I thought I was doing better as I didn't vom once yesterday and managed to get it together to help at school fair and take dd to a party. Today I went to church for the first time in weeks, then we went to Tesco where I promptly vomited in the car park. Twice. Not my finest hour, and probably my own fault for thinking that yesterday meant I was getting better and soon to stop being sick

Welcome, Jenba.
saucepan, that is quite disheartening. However, hopefully you will start to get more 'good' days now you have had one. Bloody grim, innit?

Yes upsydaisy - as greensnail says, I am already tandem nursing my 3.9 yr old dd and 13 month old ds. When pregnant with ds my boobs were very sore all the way through, but this time they are ok so far .

Welcome jenba.

Well I'm home now, with codeine to take the edge off the pain. Not really the magic solution that I was after, but just hoping that it all settles down in a day or two, as I can't bear the thought of this level of pain for any longer than that!

Hi ladies
I have read through your thread and I was wondering if can join? I am pregant with dc#2 ds is 10 (yes must be mad) it feels like my first pregnancy so I seem to be quite anxious and worried. We were ttc for 20 months and I am around 10 weeks according to my own calculations. I was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing cramps? I have had them for the past 2-3 weeks on and off, doc thinks its probably ligaments stretching to make way for my growing uterus, any ideas? Thanks xx

hi stac14 cramps are very common, try not to worry My ds1 is 14 and ds2 is 18months so i have a big gap like you,and i love it,its great,ds1 is an amazing help, but you are right, because of the gap it does feel like your first pg,its amazing what you forget! congratulations to you anyways

I am 34 and expecting my 4th, it's all been a bit of a rocky road getting this far, long story won't bore you, but we're now delighted, 12 week scan on Tuesday but I've seen the babe twice already.

I wonder if it's something in the air because i am never ever sick in pregnancy and my friend and i (and lots on this thread) all seem to be really suffering.

Welcome stac14 MillyMollyMoo jenba and anyone else I have missed

Have just barfed again- most upsetting as apparently there was much food in my stomach. Honestly I could cry , when will this end?? Haven't done a thing for xmas yet!

I find, generally if I am in bed for 9.30pm I won't be sick, maybe it's the tiredness that sets me off but that seems to be working so far.
The few nights I've stayed up has resulted in barfing and when your stomach is empty but still it comes up with blood in it, it's most upsetting

Am praying 12 weeks will be the turning point for us all.

On a happier note, I have done a little Christmas shopping, DD3 saw Father Christmas last night and all she wants is a Bratz doll, to go with the other 250 she has, she won't be getting that.
Am starting to feel a bit excited and getting my bum into gear.
anyone put the decorations up yet ?

I think I must be the only person on the thread not puking for Britain, you poor things. I am still just knackered all the time. DD had an unaccustomed nap yesterday afternoon and I nearly cried when I realised it was going to mean she wasn't going to bed until at least 9.30 as that is also my bedtime at the moment!

We have paperchains up but I can't decide what to do about a tree. We are going away for nine days over Christmas so if I get a real tree it will be bald by the time we get back. Or I will have to put it up now and take it down before we go on the 22nd which somehow seems crazy. Maybe a small cheap plastic tree is the answer.

I've done all the Father Christmas shopping. It is so nice to have all that out of the way.

And I am really disturbed that nobody's having twins yet. My scan's not until 7th December. Please could someone bag the twins immediately? It's like pass the parcel - I don't want to be left holding the twin doom!

Well, for all my good intentions about keeping things secret I told my parents over the weekend: we were visiting, I don't get to see them very often and it felt wierd not mentioning it to them. So I told them and they seemed quite, well, amused I think would be a good way of putting it. Yes, amused with a faint undercurrent of incredulity. My poor dad was in the middle of a splendid nose bleed at the time and I'm not sure my news helped his blood pressure much

Hi everyone feel awful for all those with bad sicknesss, hope everyone wont hate me if I say I am feeling pretty good now. I am at 14 weeks today tho. Have had two nasty bugs since coming back from barcelona 1 1/2 weeks ago (blaming it on the plane). One bad cold/fluey thing and one nasty headachy sicky achy thing so last two weekends have been spent mostly in bed but feel good today. Feel sorry for husband and he is stuck in over weekends looking after me (he is very good about it tho).

I agree with Millymolly about the tiredness leading to sickness. I only really felt ill when I got tired. Luckily, having no children so far was able to rest as necessary.

Stac14 I have had quite a lot of crampy pains so far and they worried me quite a lot but everything is going fine. Think its quite normal. Also my sister in law had just ad a late unexpected baby and her oldest one is 11. He, and his younger brothers are all amazing with the baby, rocking it to sleep and everything so it might be good having a 10 year old around. I was also 10 when (one of) my little sisters was born and I loved it and we still have great relationship now.

My taste buds seem to have gone haywire recently. Ate husbands soup which I normally hate last week and really enjoyed it. Just had a baked pot with cheese for lunch which has so far been my favourite pregnancy food and it tasted vile. Its weird.

Oh i also read that horrible thread on what is so hard about having a newborn last week and started wishing I never started this. There was not much positiveness in it. But have spoken to people with baby's since and feeling a bit better. Still slightly freaked tho.

Sorry for very long post but finally feeling well enough to bother writing much and its just all flowing out.
