Oh Cadmum, what a dreadful set of milestones to have. I feel for you terribly. The movements are a really good sign aren't they? Try to stay positive. xx

greensnail · 09/01/2010 10:37

Fantastic news DIMB

Sending placenta moving thoughts to Cadmum, sunshineday and anyone else who might need them.

imkeepingmum · 09/01/2010 10:58

Just catching up on all the messages so hello to all the new joiners! I wasn't well over new year (sick both ends, not nice) and don't know what it was maybe something I ate, so trying to get myself back in the land of the living. Unfortunately this has not happened as quickly as I hoped as I've been having waves of faintness/dizziness this week. Hoping that goes away pretty sharpish as it's horrible. Anyone else getting that? I was feeling really well before.

DIMB - congratulations on your scan!

chestnut100 · 09/01/2010 11:21

am really annoyed at myself for not pushing to hear the heartbeat now, and I'm fretting that something might have gone wrong and I have no way of knowing. I did ask her to do it and was simply told "no". Am so upset!

I guess I will just have to wait for my scan on 28th!

RnB · 09/01/2010 12:24

REALLY pleased for you DIMB!!!! Congratulations on your healthy little girl!

Mampam I've got SPD too horrid isn't it. Had it with the other two as well and flare ups even when I'm not pregnant. Is not great feeling like someone has kicked you with all their might between the legs . Am going to look into acupunture/reflexology/something with this pg. My sister is a physio and she's basically told me there v little they can do except offer you the belt (which didn't help me) and give all the advice that I already know.

Wow loads of new members - welcome to you all! Am struggling to keep up now!

Am also up for a London meetup...

Am halfway there in 2 days and my pg is continuing to develop nicely. Lots of kicking and movement which is lovely

greensnail · 09/01/2010 14:48

Try not to worry chestnut, chances are everything's absolutely fine. Are you feeling any movement yet? If not you probably will soon and that will set your mind at rest. If you're really worried then ring your midwife and tell her your worried and you want to hear it! I've still not heard mine yet, fingers crossed midwife will get through the snow so i can hear it next week!

fluffybuttercup · 09/01/2010 16:09

Well hello everyone - looks like you have all been on here chatting for a while - yes this is my first - we got married in september and concieved in september so its all go!!!!!

Woofie · 09/01/2010 18:41

Brilliant news dinosaurinmybelly I love the name Lola - your ds has good taste. Is he called Charlie by any chance?

LaTrucha · 09/01/2010 19:12

Congratulations Dinosaurinmybelly. That's lovely. I'm glad it's set your mind at rest.

Sorry to all those with SPD. IT's horrible. If it's your first time with it, can I offer some advice? Don't google it! Idid and got very upset, but it never got as bad as I had got the impression it might.

Congratulations Fluffyb.

LittleRobbo · 09/01/2010 20:01

Wonderful news DIMB totally thrilled for you and your family. Congrats fluffybuttercup on both accounts!

Try to remember that all our worries are magnified due to the raging hormones! I'm sure everything is fine, try to relax

Sending good vibes to all this evening

MonkeyMargot · 09/01/2010 21:06

what fab news DIMB. How wonderful knowing you are have a healthy girl in there!! I think Lola is sweet. Lovely your DS was there for the scan.

Sending positive vibes to those with low-lying placentas and SPD. Sounds horrendous.

All is well here. Am 15+3 with the twins and got my letter from the hospital today confirming both babies are low-risk for Downs which is a relief.

We have been busy keeping our house tidy as we have had 5 viewings over past 3 days. I really hope it sells quite quickly as keeping the place tidy is not easy with DD1 and her penchant for plastic toys everywhere, not to mention the dog who goes nuts everytime someone comes round to look.
On a positive note, we have found a house we love, needs some work, but we can't offer until someone offers on ours. Fingers crossed...The thought of moving with 3 small babies fills me with dread.
Definitely up for a London meet-up . On my last antenatal thread (Nov 08 - still going strong!) we had London meet-ups which were fab. The first one we had afternoon tea in a posh hotel - it was lovely!!!

theperfectbaguette · 10/01/2010 09:51

Ooh how exciting MonkeyMargot hope someone puts an offer in soon. I'm up for a London meet up, lets get a date in - 17,18,19th Feb all good for me! just throwing it out there. I only ever seen to be able to plan 6 weeks ahead - anything more and I draw a mental blank.

Congratualtions DIMB that must be a huge relief for you, I wasn't going to find out about the sex but DP has managed to persuade me and now I really want to know.

I've not heard the heartbeat yet either Chestnut, (it wasn't offered to me here in France, instead I get the pleasure of a monthly internal fisting, apparently to check my cervix is closed - dunno why as I dont think it's de rigeur in the UK but my doctor seems nice so I'm not about to argue - I also have to have monthly blood tests to check for toxoplasmosis which they're really big on here). Anyway I'm due the day after you and havent really felt any significant movement but my doctor said that's normal at our stage especially if it's your first, so if you haven't either then dont fret. Sometimes I get a weird tapping, like someones tapping on a pipe. It's almost like I can hear it echoing up through my tongue, than actually feel it - possible drumming of little heels? Gas or my imagination - not sure.

My next scan isn't till the 11th fo Feb, which seems ages away - but that's my own fault as I'm buggering off on holiday so couldn't do the date they gave me first. God bring on the sunshine, I HATE the cold.

mampam · 10/01/2010 12:23

RnB I've had flare ups or SPD too. I had it quite bad last time with DS (6yrs) which was made worse when he was born, I guess because he was such a whopper (10lb 14oz). Ever since then it gets me at odd times usually when I cross my legs. Ouch!!

I'm still waiting for my Physio appointment but I know from last time that they can do bugger all. I'm kind of hoping that they will give me some crutches so at least I might be able to venture out a little bit more. I'm fed up of being stuck in this bloody house!!

Someone has suggested to me that Pregnancy Yoga could help!?? I'm a bit sceptical but I might find out about it.

MrsDmamee · 10/01/2010 12:55

ive the dreaded SPD too..had it in last 2 pgs. started getting twinges from 8 weeks and if i over do it at all i get aches and stiffness!!! moved furniture before xmas and was in pain for a few days DH gave out loads to me.

greensnail · 10/01/2010 14:24

Feeling a bit at MonkeyMargot and all those viewings. We've had no viewings on our house yet and I can't find anything in our price range that I want to move to. Feeling like giving up and spending the money on making this place a bit more liveable for 4 people instead. Its tricky as we have everything we'd be looking for here and if we could stick on an extra bedroom and a bit more living space it would be perfect.

Had some very strange baby dreams last night. Anyone else getting weird dreams?

mampam · 10/01/2010 16:38

MrsD my DH thinks it's hilarious when I'm walking around like I'm an old woman!! I hope he's not laughing because I'm in agony though!! You're right, it's the stiffness as well as the pain.

Good luck greensnail with getting some viewings and getting your house sold.

LittleRobbo · 10/01/2010 19:11

Greensnail i've been having crazy dreams since 4weeks pg! But at the mo nearly every night i dream of my sister who i used to be really close to but we have fallen out (over her awful taste in men,or man should i say) and i seem to be shouting at her in my dream, trying to make her see sense i suppose, must be playing on my mind even more than i think, miss her a lot actually.

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/01/2010 19:51

I had SPD with dd, but wasn't too bad with ds or this time so far. I do HAVE to sleep cuddled up to a full length pillow though, making sure that there's a nice fat bit between my knees. It helps enormously. As does a good mattress. I actually stopped my pregnancy yoga a few weeks after developing it the first time mampam, as I found that it hurt too much and I had to miss out quite a bit of the lesson.

MonkeyMargot - would you link to the house that you want to buy? I love nosing at property!

Greensnail - could you do a loft conversion to get an extra bedroom, or build onto any other bit of your house? Lots of disruption, but moving house costs so much just in fees these days that it's def worth doing if you can.

So pleased for you that everything went well DIMB. Lola is a good name. Even better (IMHO) if it's used as a nickname for Dolores.

Well it's off to joint diabetic/obstetric clinic for me tomorrow morning. Hoping that I'll get to hear the heartbeat for the first time too .

MrsC09 · 10/01/2010 20:49

Wow, so much seems to have happened since I last logged on! Welcome to all new comers! I'm up for a london meet - based in SW london.

Was away a couple of weeks on our "babymoon" (a new word i learned this week) which was so relaxing & managed to get thru 4 books (last time for a few years I guess!). I thought i was finally over my tiredness as felt great on holiday but a few days back in London and feeling shattered again although could still be jet-lag i guess.

I've got SPD too... seriously painful! Started yoga classes this week hoping it would help but i'm not convinced.

Mamapan, I'm still in my normal clothe and have only gained 1.5 kg so far so I'm a bit worried too. I'm naturally slim but am eating normally so I don't know why I'm not putting on more weight. I just hope the little one is growing as he should. Got my next scan on the 22nd so keeping fingers crossed all is ok.

Bought a baby name book today - we've found a girls name we really like but struggling with boys - any good suggestions out there??

MonkeyMargot · 10/01/2010 21:15

MrsCOP9 I find boys names a struggle too. And it's so subjective, one persons ideal name can be anothers worst nightmare...

I remember DH and I did not discuss our name choices for DD1 with ANYONE in real life - as my family in particular could not help bit vocalise their opinions. However I did tout my choices around on my antenatal MN thread! What are your thoughts so far for boys names?

CantSleep I will send you a message with the link to the house we like .

greensnail good luck with the viewings. I'm in London and I guess the market is still fairly buoyant here despite the credit crunch. So don't feel disheartened. Agree also with can'tsleep that if you can extend your current home, that is by far the most sensible option. We can't do anymore with our house unfortunately. Will be v.sad to leave as have lots of lovely friends on our street.
I too have been having mad dreams. Two nights ago, I woke DH up by laughing out loud in my sleep. (He thought i was sobbing!) I was dreaming about cutting up ravioli parcels. Odd.

greensnail · 10/01/2010 21:33

Would love to be able to extend in some way but unfortunately we're in a first floor maisonette so its not possible. We have the space (big loft and big garden) but its just not practical. When we put our place on the market our downstairs neighbours told us they had been considering buying their place (they rent currently) and extending, so if that ever happened it might be a possibility that we could get together to do a 2 storey extenstion and we would have the top half, but I think its a bit of a longshot.

Glad I'm not the only one having crazy dreams!

I agree about not telling anyone your choice of names until the baby is born - they are much less likely to feel the need to comment to your face about the name then! I can't get DH interested in discussing names at all. He thinks we can just go back to the list we made when expecting DD, but my opinions have changed since then and also we now have to pick a name that goes with hers. Luckily our first choice for a boy's name would still be the same, so I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed for a boy to save on arguments!

Woofie · 10/01/2010 22:13

greensnail we're in a 1st floor maisonette which we love too. We've actually accepted an offer on it, but can't find anywhere that we like more and can afford to buy ourselves.

Boys' names are definitely harder. And have just got slightly miffed looking at the baby name predictions for 2010 thread. We chose our ds's name 4 years ago not knowing any others, and now it's rocketed up the names chart. My fav girl's name is still fairly unusual, but almost everyone on that thread predicted it would be the trendy name this year! Grrr Don't particuarly want kids to have "different" names, but still can't help feeling a bit proprietorial!

Sorry for all those suffering SPD, sounds grim.

fillybuster · 11/01/2010 10:00

Cadmum - am actually quite at the 4 easy births...I've had 2 from hell already! Sorry about the placenta/c-section fears but I agree that the ostrich-head-in-the-sand approach is probably the healthiest way forward right now!

DIMB - yay and triple hurrah! So so so pleased that everything is ok with the littlest dinosaur FWIW, I also love the name Lola...your dh will come round in time. Btw, we've got a boy and a girl, in that order, and its been brilliant.

Sorry to all those with SPD and other pg ailments.

Am joining those with weird dreams...maybe we need to use that in the title of our next thread? Although mine are distinctly weird/worrying rather than funny...

Great to know there's so many up for a London meetup - we had some lovely ones on my last threat (Jan 08) although no posh hotels for us! I'll set up a thread this week and we can take a vote on dates and times (don't want to hijack this one!) but evenings might be better than afternoon tea, as nice as that sounds, as I think there are more working mums than not on this thread at the moment Perhaps we can save posh afternoon tea for when we're all on mat leave (if we can find a way of just bringing the sleepy new babies and leaving the toddlers at home ??)

Ugh...brain a total blank this morning and in the middle of an enormous pre-product-launch nightmare at work, so probably should get back to bossing people around .

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/01/2010 11:04

Looking forward to your message margot! You can always get me on CantSleepWontSleep @ gmail dot com to avoid the delays of the CAT system .

Appointment went fine this morning. Heard the heartbeat . Back in 2 weeks time. These regular appointments are going to get v tedious though.

NizzyNoodles · 11/01/2010 11:16

Morning all!

Hope everyone who's not feeling on top form feels better soon.

We keep discussing names as we have used up our favourite girls names already and now we can't find any more we both like! We're sorted if it's a boy though I think we're likely to end up with 3 little girls so probably won't get to use it.

Luckily we don't need to move/extend because of the baby as we managed to move in the summer. I can totally sympathise with all the ups and downs of trying to move/sell houses though.

I'm supposed to have my next midwife appointment tomorrow, then the next scan is in 2 weeks. I think I've started to feel the baby move but not completely sure it's not wind or something.

I can't believe I'm nearly 18 weeks. That's almost half way!!
