You can do it just the same on a mac Ginger, as long as you have a mouse with a right click. Otherwise you just use whatever method of copy and paste you prefer.
There are quite a few on the list that we haven't heard from for a long time, and don't know whether they've been scanned or not (though obv should have by now). We will need to decide at what point to cut people off the list. IME a good number of them will never come back to the thread.

Sorry to hear about the swine flu Gina.

Welcome to all the newcomers.

We have snow here now too, and more expected overnight (North Herts).

LittleRobbo · 05/01/2010 21:20

Evening all,i'm not feeling the best tonite been to work today and carried some stuff a little too heavy i think and i've been having a few twinges since, also, last week i had some swabs taken at the hospital and they've phoned to say i have an infection and i have to go and pick up prescription for antibiotics. So i'm really worried now that i may have had infection for a while which means its been untreated for some time. I'm seeing midwife on Thursday so i'm sure i'll get some reassurance then, just feeling quite negative at the mo,which is unlike me.

LittleRobbo · 05/01/2010 21:22

Wishing you a speedy recovery gina

Welcome wheredidmyfeetgo

dinosaurinmybelly · 05/01/2010 22:01

Hello everyone - sorry to hear some of you aren't feeling well. Try not to worry LittleRobbo - I am sure the midwife will reassure that everything is fine now that you are having treatment. Some of us are at that stage now where we don't have morning sickness, and we're feeling a bit energetic, so it is tempting to do too much. I think the bodies natural instincts kick in and force you to stay in bed greensnail and we have to remember not to try to do too much.

Welcome to all the new joiners - we are really an exciting group - do we have 5 sets of twins? I am off for my 2nd (anatomical?) scan on Friday and I'm a bit nervous because of the news we had just before Christmas that we were in the positive range for Down's Syndrome. As I mentioned, the odds are still pretty good in my view (1 in 120), and I'm not going to go for an amnio, but I will be just so relieved if this scan doesn't turn up any serious issues. I think we will also find out the gender if they are able to tell us. I didn't do that with DS1 and DS2, and I really wouldn't mind a boy or a girl this time, but DS1 has decided that I am carrying a baby girl and that she will be called Lola. I think it is best we involve him in the process and prepare him in case it is a boy. Once I started thinking that way, I could see all kinds of other benefits to knowing this time. I have so loved the surprise with my other 2 pregnancies, but our naming process has tended to be fraught, and this might also cut the stress on that by 50%.

Would love some virtual handholding for Friday - I'm trying to put it to the back of my mind, rather than have sleepless nights, but I know it'll be one of the most important days of my life and I'm petrified.

I hope no one is having trouble with the snow, and that you are all warm & cosy at home by now...

Saucepanman · 05/01/2010 22:20

Hello all- oldies and newbies! Snow days for us today and tomorrow. Won't respond individually, too many posts and am a wee bit stressed at the mo due to this.

Have a look if you can be bothered and let me know what you think, am a bit down in the mouth about it all today- also may have overdone it slightly constructing an igloo!

madamefreckle · 05/01/2010 23:42

An Igloo! Saucepanman, I'm impressed! I have read your thread - I would be fuming. I would put him in the living room so as not to disrupt the kids and tell him, really sorry but he'll have to get up when you all do in the morning and pack away his camp bed as it's important for the kids not to have their routine messed about with. I wouldn't want him to get too comfy having his own room. As for his bringing his bed Hmmm, this doesn't really solve any of the other problems of him being about the house, food or anything though. I would be v. p'd off with DH - I reckon he should be a) asking you rather than announcing b) telling BIL that it's fine for a week or two but after that he'd be outstaying his welcome c)telling BIL all ground-rules. Can you print out your thread and thrust it under DH's nose? Would he lose it or would it make him see your side of the picture?

Dinosaurinmybelly -good luck for Friday! I'm much more anxious about 20 wk scan than i was with ds. It'll more than likely be fine and I just figure that whatever the outcome, it's best to know - otherwise we wouldn't bother going for the scan at all.

Does anyone else get really bad pain across front of pelvis area when they cough or sneeze in certain positions? It's particularly on the right side (in an ovary sort of position) but spreads across. Just wondering if it might be ligaments stretching or something or if i should start worrying.

OP posts:
bluesnowfalcon · 06/01/2010 07:58

Madamefreckle I get sharp pains when I sneeze sometimes particularly at night! Thought it was just me! I agree mine tends to be left side but is sometimes on right too - I've tried not to worry about it and just rub the bit that hurts and it seems to go away

Ilovemyterrier · 06/01/2010 09:23

Hi
Not posted for ages(probably since I first joined!) due to hectic work schedule and extreme tiredness. Anyway, am 15+5 and feeling much more energetic
Had scan on 11th Dec, all well but they were a little concerned about the absence of the nasal bone (apparently could be a sign of downs...) All other test results were strong (1:1000) so they said not to worry as it will grow! Next scan at 20 weeks so am praying the little bone has formed.
Dinosaur I get similar pains when sneezing, sometimes on the left, sometimes on the right. I find that if I really let the sneeze out, and don't try to be ladylike and hold it in, the pain does not come.... not pretty but seems to work

Morning all, we have lots of lovely snow here this morning which looks very pretty but my midwife appointment has been cancelled as the midwife can't get in (not sure i could get to the surgery either but probably would have tried as i'm desperate to hear the heartbeat). Luckily am feeling plenty of movement so not really worried, will need to rebook for next week.

madamefreckle I also get the pains you describe on sneezing. Mine are usually on the right side and I get the same thing when i'm not pregnant so really don't know what it is but have never let it worry me. Really hurts though doesn't it. I always think it feels like an ovary bursting, although i've no idea what that would really feel like.

saucepanman I'm off to read your thread now. I've seen it pop up on active threads and always thought yanbu without actually reading the details! Will read it now so i can give you my full sympathy

NizzyNoodles · 06/01/2010 11:02

Snow day here.

So trying to keep the DDs busy - Snow White dvd is working at the minute though... (although I may have spoken too soon!!!)

Hope everyone is keeping warm and safe

saucepanman off to have a look at your thread...

greensnail · 06/01/2010 11:06

Saucepanman ok, read it! Sounds to me like you're being very reasonable. Definitely don't make him too comfortable. If you can bear having him camping out in the living room then don't move your children (or if having them in together is going to cause too much disruption, could one of them have a camp bed in your room?). You'll need to decide whether the easiest option for you is to feed him and get him to contribute, or to get him to feed himself, but either way be clear and stick to your guns. And feel free to come and moan on this thread as much as you need to.

Saucepanman · 06/01/2010 12:57

madamefreckle I did think bed in living room, but fear if he went off to work without putting it away, or was grumpy about us getting up at weekends, I would not take it in good humour! Btw I also get sharp pains sometimes when sneezing or coughing, and have done in previous pregnancies.

greensnail thanks for that, was beginning to think I was going mad/BU!

minimoonumbertwo · 06/01/2010 13:19

one word for those struggling with shopping, ASOS MATERNITY!!! (okay two words) perfect for when snowed in too...

goodname · 06/01/2010 13:44

Hi, not posted for a while now, been on holiday from work and hate using my computer at home because it is slow and in a cupboard which is about as cold as the freezer just now.
Sorry for all who are struggling with anxiety and depression and hormones. I was awful for the first 12 weeks but really feeling a lot better now (almost 20 weeks now yippee!). So maybe hormones will calm down for some soon.
Starting to make lists now of all the things I need to do and buy before baby is born ( I do love making lists, even if that is a bit sad). This is my first baby so lots to think about. Every now and then waves of excitement just wash over me and other times waves of fear.
Have felt the baby move quite a lot now, mostly in evenings or at night. It makes me feel really happy. Have my next scan 1 week today and going to find out what it is, so very excited.
I also get pains when I sneeze, which is very often by the way. Also bunged up all the time which does not help with sleeping. Neither does fact I am sometimes starving in middle of night. Is that normal?
Oh we also have lots of snow here, been snowing for about 4 weeks now I think. I love it tho, makes everything look so much nicer.
Anyway this post is really too long already so will stop here for today.

LittleRobbo · 06/01/2010 17:49

Evening ladies,i've been to collect my antibiotics for an infection i have (no one has told me exactly what kind of infection it is ) Anyway,i have been prescribed Metronidazole,i have googled it to see if it safe in pregnacy, and i have to admit i am not convinced it is,has anyone else taken this medicine during pg? I am worried sick about it,please help! I'm sure they wouldnt have prescribed it if there were any risks, would they?

bluesnowfalcon · 06/01/2010 18:06

Sorry littlerobbo I haven't take any medication since I foudn out I was pregnant so not sure - If they know you are pregnant though I'm sure they wouldn't have prescribed anything dangerous x Hope someone else knows more for you x

mampam · 06/01/2010 19:01

Hi all sorry I haven't signed in for a few days!

Things with DH have settled down, it eventually ended as most of our disagreements do by waking up the next day and carrying on as normal, as if nothing happened.

Didn't really get a chance to talk to him before a letter from his parents arrived. Now they know about the baby they suddenly want to get in contact. I'm quite worried about DH as having this looming over him is what has pushed him to have a breakdown in the first place. Haven't yet had a chance to talk to him about going back to see GP and discussing AD's.

SPD is getting worse. I was meant to go back to work yesterday for the first time since October but I'm in agony so didn't go. GP has signed me off for another 3 weeks and hopefully in that time my Physio appointment will come through.

I suffer with anxiety/panic attacks anyway, it hasn't been too bad since being pregnant but every now and then, usually in the middle of the night, it rears it's ugly head. TBH it has been made worse by the midwife's comment about my low blood pressure 'if you weren't pregnant we'd be resucitating you'. Now I'm convince there's something wrong with my heart. Stupid and irrational I know.

Saucepanman, I've read your thread and I can totally see your point that DH should have at least asked and not just assumed his Brother could come and stay. Your DH should now do the decent thing and lay down some ground rules like asking his brother to contribute towards food bill if he expects to be fed and he needs to help about the house a bit whilst he is staying with you, washing the dishes etc.

LaTrucha · 06/01/2010 19:31

mampam - physiotherapy really helped with my SPD first time round. Sorry you've got it so early on. They did give me a very attractive elasticated belt to wear round my hips. IT did help a lot but I couldn't bring myself to wear it out of the house.

saucepanman - it will drive you crazy if you don't lay someground rules. It should be DH who does it but he probably won't. My brother, who is very difficult and who I don't get on with, stayed with us for a month last January. It drove me nuts. And I didn't lay any ground rules, just seethed. I didn't do it, but you might feel better to take the plunge and make teh rules yourself. They might think you're a cow butit might be better than you feeling like a pushover. YANBU BTW.

I get those pains when sneezing to. I got lots of pains, and much worse, the first time around. I even went to the GP, afraid it might be an ectopic pregnancy, but it was all quite normal!

A day in doors dancing madly with DD today. 5 days now without being sick. Yay! Am exhausted though.

greensnail · 06/01/2010 19:45

littlerobbo What dose are you on? I've looked metronidazole up in the BNF (this is the book that doctors use for information when they're prescribing) and it says the manufacturer advises to avoid high-dose regimens. I'm sure you'll just be on a standard dose and this is completely safe. They will have looked at what bugs grew from your swab and picked the best antibiotic to treat them considering that you're pregnant. I would take them if i were you, but if you're really worried check it out with doctor, midwife or pharmacist.

mampam good to hear from you and glad things have settled down a bit. Low BP is a sign of a healthy heart - honestly, please don't worry about this.

MonkeyMargot · 06/01/2010 20:57

Saucepanman YANBU - agree with what all the others have said. I would get BIL to sleep in living room, and ensure he puts his stuff away each morning. Get him on a rota helping out with housework, cooking. Ask for financial contribution to food bill. Don't make things tooo comfy for him or he'll never leave. And make it clear upfront when his moving out date is. Where will he go after 6 weeks? Could this linger on indefinitely?

Dinosaurus best of luck with the scan on Friday. We will all be thinking of you.

Had good day today despite snow. Worked from home and decorator came in to tart up house ready for viewings. Went to look at 2 houses, one of which I loved. It needs some work but has lots of potential. Now just hoping DH loves it too. And of course that someone offers on our house v.soon! And that we win the lottery!

Mamapam low blood pressure is sooo much better than the opposite.
Glad things with DH have improved a little. Hope you can get him to talk to GP re. ADs.

Thanks greensnail i am on 200mg which i think is the lowest doseage,i have midwife appointment in the morning so will discuss with her also, thanks so much for the info,i think i'll sleep a little easier.

madamefreckle · 06/01/2010 23:10

greensnail I think the 'normal' dose prescribed is often 400mg twice a day so on 200mg you should be fine. Hopefully midwife will say something similar - or if she doesn't know you could always ring a pharmacist for extra reassurance.

Thank you everyone for relieving my worries about my pelvic pain when coughing/sneezing -it seems that most of us are in the same boat. Having done more internet timewasting research, I think i have pinpointed it as round ligament pain - click if you're interested!
