Congratulations imkeepingmum, how wonderful - did you have any idea or was it a complete surprise?

I'm feeling quite chuffed w myself today - dh has gone to work, and dd asked to go to her childminder , and as I'm feeling neither nauseous nor knackered right now I have tackled the paper mountain that has built up over the last 3 mths and paid my bills. Hurrah!!!

theperfectbaguette · 30/12/2009 14:41

Congratualtions Imkeepingmum how romantic and festive. And well done playftseforme I've been wilfully ignoring my paperwork and actually had an anxiety dream about it earlier in the week.

I've had my head down with work for the last couple of months and have just booked some flights to Bangkok for a holiday in January so am rather concerned to see so many flying whilst pregnant bad experiences.

Exciting to see so many people are feeling the baby move now. I dont think I am, this is my first so am not quite sure what to be looking for. A few times lying in bed at night I've felt a kind of bubling feeling - but knowing me quite likely to be gas.

greensnail · 30/12/2009 15:08

Congratulations Imkeepingmum, how exciting How did he pop the question? or did you ask him??

My bump is obviously much bigger than I thought as I couldn't reach past all the crap in DD's wardrobe to hang up her clothes this morning. Am now looking forward to the stage where i can no longer reach to wash up, but think its definitely time to tell work the good news. Just been up into the loft for a tidy up to make sure all stuff i'll need for the new baby is in one place so I can send someone up for it all when the time comes. I managed to resist opening all the bags to look at the teeny tiny clothes though, otherwise I'd probably still be up there clucking over it all

Uh-oh, dd (big 3 yo) managed to fall onto my tummy this evening, saving herself by putting her hands down square on my lower tummy. Getting all stressed about it, thinking I should phone the EPU tomorrow morning to get some advice...

greensnail · 30/12/2009 20:18

Ouch playftseforme, I'm sure it will be fine, baby is well padded in there but definitely phone for some advice if you're worried. Do you have any numbers for an on call midwife you could call this evening if you're really worried? They might be able to put your mind at rest a bit. I've been spending a lot of time trying to persuade DD that my bump is not to be used to help her climb up to look out of the window, but luckily she's smaller than yours.

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/12/2009 20:30

Ouch playftse. The chances are that everything is absolutely fine, but if you're really worried then it can't hurt to phone for advice.

earlyonemorning - gaviscon is useful for sickness too, as it forms a layer on the top of the stomach contents which makes it harder for them to come back up. That's why it's also prescribed to babies with reflux.

Congratulations imkeepingmum!

Hope you are feeling better whenwillisleepagain.

All fine here, except that I'm struggling a little to control my blood sugars to the extent that I need to. It's not exactly the easiest time of year to impose these sorts of limits!
No movement felt here yet, but I'm only 14 weeks, and iirc I didn't feel the others especially early either.

MonkeyMargot · 30/12/2009 21:06

Merry merry Christmas all of you June ladies!

Lovely quiet xmas here with my family up in Staffs, sharing the news for the first time with my parents that twins are on their way! DD1 had lots of fun with her 4 month old cousin, continually locking him in a vulcan death-grip of affection. She just loves kissing boys....not sure where she gets it from .

playftse I'm sure all is OK - I recall when my sister was PG and riding everyday, the midwife told her the risk from riding was not damage to the foetus as it is so well protected, but rather if a head injury occured there would be some difficult decisions to make re. treatment.

I am 14 weeks today and busting out of my normal clothes. My jeans are now a no-no. Can just squeeze into my denim skirt still. Bought some new maternity trousers for work in the Gap sale yesterday. Will def. have to ttell my boss next week as it is going to be fairly obvious. It's staggering how your body just pops out the 2nd time around. First time it took ages till I showed!

We are going on hols end of January which I am really looking forward to. A week of sunshine and (some) relaxation, although i anticipate constantly chasing DD1 around the beach as she literally just runs everywhere at the moment since learning to walk 2 weeks ago....How different to last summer when all she could do was sit!

What is everyone doing for NYE? We are having our first ever stay at home and doing nothing NYE. DH going to cook, then watch a film. Bliss. Night all!

Saucepanman · 30/12/2009 23:03

playftse this is anecdotal (sp?) but when I was 14 wks with ds2, a man whacked me in the stomach with his suitcase at the train station. I was hysterical by the time I got into work but happy to say I was fine.Hope you are too (but do get seen if you are worried)

Can I ask you all, would you expect to be feeling the baby much at 17 weeks?

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/12/2009 09:28

I wouldn't saucepan - haven't tended to feel mine until later than that. Can you remember when you felt your others?

For new year we've got friends coming over (with children) for dinner, and some of them having a sleepover, which dd is most excited about!

mumandlovingit · 31/12/2009 09:57

ive felt a few flutters over the past couple of days, im now 17+3. nothing major though, mainly when turning from side to side in bed etc.this is no3 so hopefully i will feel it a lot soon.19w & 18w with the other 2.

going to a friends tonight for a little while then hopefully relaxing at home for midnight.ive been up since 2am worrying about making feeds up during the night and when we go out with the new baby. we're going to use cow and gate comfort and it has to be mixed hotter aparently. what a thing to worry about at 2am!

happy new year to you all & happy 2010 xx

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/12/2009 10:08

Will you not try breastfeeding mumandlovingit? There would be no worries at all about making up feeds then - breastmilk is always the perfect temperature!

imkeepingmum · 31/12/2009 10:36

To all who asked about the proposal - he asked me just before our meal and when I said yes we both burst into tears . Wasn't expecting him to ask although we have discussed it many times (been together over 7 years) but I've never been too worried about getting married. But now baby's on the way that changes things!

Hope you all have a good new year

greensnail · 31/12/2009 14:47

How are you feeling today playftse? Hope you've been checked out and all is well.

Saucepanman I'm 17 weeks and just feeling occasional flutters. I think I felt movement more regularly at this point last time, although i felt it a little earlier this time around. Will depend a bit on the position of the baby and the placenta how much you feel though I think.

We're having a quiet one in tonight, just relaxing and getting a takeaway. Big change for me as I've always loved new year, but am working tomorrow night so don't really want to overdo it. Will still be more festive than last year when I had a one week old and was in bed by 9.30 I think. She woke for a feed at 12.30 so we saw in the new year together then, which was lovely

Happy new year to you all when it comes.

dinosaurinmybelly · 31/12/2009 15:56

Congratulations imkeepingmum . Really lovely news. I'm still not feeling any movement and I'm now 18 + 3. I remember starting to feel movements at 19weeks with DS1 and 16 weeks with DS2, so I suppose it must just depend on so many factors.

We're also having a cosy NYE at home and I have to say I much prefer it that way. Freezing outside, crowded pubs & restaurants and long wait for taxis doesn't appeal. Still it would be lovely to have a dinner party with friends, but as we are away from home, it will just be us.

Happy New Year everyone - we already know that 2010 is going to bring us much excitement!

mampam · 31/12/2009 16:57

imkeepingmum CONGRATULATIONS.

I've been feeling strange goings on in my belly since 15 weeks. Sometimes when I really needed a wee I had an odd sensation where I felt like something was very gently tapping my bladder. It may not have been the baby though. Now I'm 18+3 and have lots of little flutterings, if I have a poke and a prod of my belly I still can't feel anything though.

It's my 30th birthday today, so next time the list is updated can someone please (reluctantly) change my age!! (I'm too thick to know how to do it myself).
Thought I would be a bit weepy today (I hate the thought of getting older) but I'm fine and am actually enjoying myself. Going out to an Indian restaurant later, have got a bit of a craving for Indian food at the moment.

Happy New Year to you all xxxxx

greensnail · 31/12/2009 17:03

Happy Birthday Mampam! I'm also craving indian so that's what we're having tonight too!

RnB · 31/12/2009 18:10

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMPAM!!!!!!

And congratulations Imkeepingmum. How lovely

GibberingGinger · 31/12/2009 18:41

Happy Birthday mampam

I'm another one eating Indian food tonight. DH has got whatever lurgy that DD had over Christmas so I'm leaving him behind and going over to one of my mates for takeaway. Might well be home by midnight though.

Got my nuchal results today - low risk which is great.

Happy new year to you all. Here's hoping 2010 is a good one

MrsAlwaysRight · 31/12/2009 19:29

Happy Birthday Mampam!

Happy New Year everyone! We are also staying in with a curry

playftseforme · 31/12/2009 19:31

Hi all - thanks for all your kind words. I phoned the EPU this morning and they invited me to come in for a scan this pm. Anyway, all is fine, two wrigglers in there, but I'm glad I went as it certainly fixed my anxiety.

Have a happy new year everyone. I, like many of you, will be in tonight w some good food (which I can now eat ) and a cheeky glass of fizz!

greensnail · 31/12/2009 20:00

Great news playftse

MonkeyMargot · 31/12/2009 20:25

oh what a relief playftse.

We are also staying in and have just scoffed our curry...now watching Quantum of Solace which I recall watching at the cinema last November just before DD1 was born. That was our last (adult-only) cinema trip!

Our dog is shaking like a leaf because some bright spark is setting off fireworks in their garden behind us.

Happy new year all!

sunshineday · 31/12/2009 20:37

Hello everyone hope you are all feeling ok,I hope you all had a good Christmas and you enjoy your new years eve. Well at 15 weeks I thought I'd be feeling less tired and more like myself- not much luck there.

sunshineday · 31/12/2009 20:43

Happy Birthday mampam

playftseforme pleased you got to have a scan and it made you feel better.

I keep getting tightenings across my lower part of my stomach, has anyone else had anything like it?
