OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LittleRobbo · 03/12/2009 18:02

Good evening ladies, had my scan today, and i am pleased to report everything is as it should be and littlest Robbo is cooking lovely Scan pic is crazy as the baby is actually upright on it! (i'll try to post it) Sorry for being a bit of a thicko but i'm not sure how to update list

cadmum you sound like an amazing woman, and what a great role model you are for your kids,i am also sending positive vibes to your placenta

Filly my thoughts are with you for your visit this weekend. I think i have a few more positive vibes left to pass on to all those awaiting scans, battling urine infections,or just generally feeling shitty!

Saucepanman · 03/12/2009 18:07

I don't mind telling you all my history (briefly!) but didn't want to freak anyone out, if you would like me to tell you let me know

Cadmum tbh I try not to think about the scar tissue situation in my womb, else I would be shitting myself constantly! It really is bothering me this time though, who knows what is going on in there.

Thanks gizmo, filly and everyone else, I won't write more until I know if you want to know! I really don't mind if you don't

CantSleepWontSleep · 03/12/2009 18:24

I'd like to know more saucepan, though am out tonight so don't think you've scared me off if I don't reply!

This is really just a quick hello to mark my place, as there suddenly seem to have been masses of posts!

All the right sort of vibes coming at everyone who needs them for whatever reason!

Oh, and anecdotally (and according to several dentists), antibiotics in pregnancy can have some impact on the teeth - I forget exactly what now - maybe white spots? - but only milk teeth, and nothing serious, so do take antibiotics if you need them.

greensnail · 03/12/2009 19:31

Hi all, also sending vibes to anyone who needs them!

I have also been crying at random things today - my worst was when I was buying a birthday card for DH, started crying on reading the stupid poems in them

saucepanman I'd like to know about your history if you don't mind telling. Really hope you get the reassurance you need at the gynae assessment unit tomorrow. Will be thinking of you.

MrsAlwaysRight · 03/12/2009 19:54

Scan went well. Just the one baby in there! Baby was very active and was literally doing somersaults! The pictures aren't great as it didn't want to stay still and was at a funny angle.

Had a bit of a teary moment giving DD a bath tonight. Feel really sad that it won't just be her anymore Also feel guilty that I don't seem to feel as excited this time round.

MrsAlwaysRight · 03/12/2009 19:57

Oh and forgot to say during my previous post that my due date has now been changed to 8th June!

NizzyNoodles · 03/12/2009 20:53

Hi everyone - can I join you?
I had my dating scan today so now "officially" pregnant and can stop lurking!
I'm 35 and expecting number 3 on 16th June. I've been feeling a bit rough but seem to be much better since I hit the magic 12 week mark yesterday so I hope that gives a bit of hope to everyone who's not been feeling too well.

gizmo · 03/12/2009 22:06

Hello Nizzy, you have more self control than me waiting this long to join the thread. Good job, too, we don't want a big gap on the 16th.

Saucepanman, yes, I'm up for hearing your history if you're sure it won't freak you out. I'm feeling rather more robust this evening - scan went well, all anatomical markers are present/normal, only slight issue is a rather low PAPP A score but my risk overall is now distinctly reduced, so I'm feeling much better. And not a little silly for getting so stressed before the scan

Saucepanman · 03/12/2009 22:24

Just a quick one, before I head to bed, ironing for tomorrow totally not done!

In a nutshell, my first baby was stillborn at 7.5m pregnant, and the reasons for this were inconclusive. That was my beautiful ds1 . I was induced- my biggest fear- and gave birth naturally, no drugs

I got pg straight away with ds2 who was born at 36 weeks, almost 40 weeks to the day of giving birth to ds1. Obviously this was a very stressful pg, think I had nigh on 40 scans throughout. I had ds2 by c-section, which went tits up when they cut through a huge blood vessel in my anterior placenta. Queue massive pph and 4 units of blood.

3 years later had dd, again by section. Made it as far as the ward before pph'ing, this time my uterus was not contracting as it should- it's called an atonic uterus and it's "just what I do"! So will most likely happen again. Remember what I said about my hardness to pain- when you have had a dr press on your tummy post-section whilst, erm "removing" clots with the other hand, pain doesn't really bother you any more! Queue more units of blood. Consultant said then that I could have another baby but it must only be one more due to the scarring in my womb.

4 years later here I am! Crapping oneself. I was a lot more relaxed with my 3rd pg than my 2nd and was hoping for more of the same this time

All I need to do now is prod those of you who nodded off, and fan those who fainted! Nighty night all x

greensnail · 04/12/2009 09:20

Saucepanman thanks for sharing. So, so sorry to hear about your DS1 Have everything crossed for you that you'll get the reassurance you're needing this afternoon.

Welcome Nizzy. Glad scans went well everyone.

nickytwotimes · 04/12/2009 09:24

Saucepanman, what a hellish time you have had. Sorry about your first wee one.

You are very brave to have another after all you have been through.

I am still wincing after the clot bit of the story.

Hope my fellow pukers are feeling a bit better? I have been a lot better and spend the evenings stuffing my face. Looking forward to getting out and about a bit more soon after 2 mths house arrest.

Anyone else still feel absolutely shattered?

I am off for a kip while ds at pre-school. zzzzzzzzz

Saucepanman · 04/12/2009 10:10

Thanks you two

I am getting down about the amount of food I need to consume to not be sick- not only do I not fancy anything but am not hungry every day I wake up and the whole thing stretches ahead of me. It's like groundhog day!

Cadmum · 04/12/2009 11:05

Thank you for telling us your history saucepanman. I only knew about your ds1. How very heartbreaking. I agree that you are very brave to keep trying.

I cannot imagine the stress that you endure on a daily basis. I had never heard of an atonic uterus. It makes me feel cross on your behalf that the consultants are reluctant to offer you frequent scans.

Yikes! I will try to keep my experiences in perspective.

RnB · 04/12/2009 12:00

Saucepanman so sorry for all your losses , how awful for you x

upsydaisysexstylist · 04/12/2009 12:40

Saucepanman thank you for sharing your story, I agree you are very brave to be doing this again/. Our dd was a stillbirth at 34wks and when I was at the support clinic today I was thinking about your situation and how fucking patchy the support services are. Only 40% of pcts actually have breavement midwifes at all I feel a mumsnet campain coming on when I am less hormonally prone to crying and being sick.

LittleRobbo · 04/12/2009 12:48

saucepanman its women like you that puts a stamp on the fact that women are most definately the stronger sex! and it really is women like you that makes me proud to be one Wow,we will all be rooting for you to have an 'easier' time this pg i'm sure.

mrsalwaysright we are due on the same day i had myself down as the 7th (dh's birthday) but from scan its changed to the 8th,so i wasnt far off!

Welcome and congrats nizzy

readysetgo · 04/12/2009 13:42

Thank you for sharing your story saucepanman - you are an inspiration and stories like yours put a lot of things in perspective. My mum had a still born boy at 28 weeks two years after I was born. Obviously I don't remember, but she says it was one of the hardest times of her life. Like you, she found being pregnant with my younger sister very stressful but at 39 weeks had my gorgeous younger sister (who gets lots of attention )

Wow it's been a busy 24 hours on the board. Glad to hear your appointment went well GinaFB I'm fine with blood tests but absolutely pooping it about the heart beat. DP has a big meeting on the day I managed to book my appointment (he told me - I forgot) but I don't want to cancel and wait any longer so I'm going to go alone. I think he is a bit gutted but wants to hurry the scan along so happy for me to go. For someone that was so nervous/shut off at the BFP he has now turned into the most excitable man ever!

I've not told my Dad&StepM yet. They got together when I was 3 and were TTC until about 3 years ago - they are fairly young. She had to have a hysterectomy (long story) and she finds it incredibly hard when people close to her fall pregnant. I completely understand, but I'm terrified of telling her I'm pregnant. I don't want to hurt her. Last time I was pg (miscarriage) I told them both straight away and it was awful. She also tried putting me off a little by telling me it would be so hard, and I was too young. (I'm 24)

Once I have my scan, no excuses and I'll have to be brave!

Anyway sorry to ramble. On a brighter note, I have lost weight My trousers are tighter though. I've not had any MS (sorry, sorry) and been eating loads, so the most embarrassing part of the weight loss is that it's obviously due to the no alcohol/masses of smelly cheese! Christ, hadn't realised I was THAT bad!

God, what a post. Sorry everyone and so excited to hear all your scans are going well! Is the shock subsiding Ginger?
xx

fillybuster · 04/12/2009 14:33

Saucepanman - thank you for sharing your history with us; like all the other posters, I am just in awe of your emotional and physical bravery and at the consultants who aren't giving you their full support.

Gizmo - relieved it went ok, I was thinking of you chairing your session last night and praying that you hadn't had to call on the services of "Professional Gizmo Woman" to see you through

LittleRobbo - sounds like littlestrobbo is going to be a handful ...glad the scan's over and it went well!

Readysetgo - its a bit different, but I told my SIL last night, who has been ttc all the time since I had dc1 and coped with my 2nd pg fairly well (she has 2 dcs already, now 8 and nearly 6) and she took it as well as I could have hoped for - ie not brilliantly but then moved the conversation on to other topics and spent another 10 minutes chatting to make it clear she wasn't pissed off at me. A friend of mine advised that I 'give her permission' to be upset by saying something like "I imagine that if I was in your position this would be very difficult, so I am really sorry", and I do think that was helpful, if a bit awkward. Good luck

Nickytwotimes - yes, still utterly and completely and mind-blowingly exhausted, all of the time! Its horrid, isn't it. Although I think it might be beginning to lift very slightly..I managed to get the dcs into bed last night without the urge to collapse on my own bed halfway through - progress I think!

Nizzy - welcome

I can't remember who asked about antibiotics but its only the very strong ones (ie not the -cyllin type) that cause brown marks on teeth, but apparently those ones can affect adult as well as milk teeth. Probably worth checking with your GP, as lots of antibiotics are fine (sorry, pg brain means the type that can cause staining completely escapes me right now!)

Cadmum and Sunshineday - 5???? ...I bow down in awe at your supermum feet!

Updating list with new EDD and scan status...but this means very little as I will be at least a week late...so Cadmum and MrsAlwaysRight, can I be in your gang on 14th please?

Saucepanman WOW! I'm very sorry you have been through the mill. I must admit that I am shitting myself a little knowing that with this pregnancy I will have to have a C-section, having never had one before with my previous 2 pregnancies. I'm dreading it but even more so now I've read your story!!

Well done for being so strong and I wish you a stress free, relaxed pregnancy.

I think I may be feeling slightly better. DH and I had a bit of nooky this morning, something we haven't done for 3 months!! The last time was probably when this baby was conceived!!(sorry TMI!!) A couple of weeks ago I would have thrown up at the thought of it!!

LittleRobbo · 04/12/2009 17:23

mampam congratulations on this mornings shenanigans, your dry spell is over! lol!

gizmo · 04/12/2009 17:43

Well, Saucepanman, thank you. I don't know what to say except I feel for you with every ounce of my heart and cannot understand the lack of empathy that your doctors are showing. You must have great mental strength to keep going in that situation

I hope you get some better understanding and help: are you due to see your bereavement midwife anytime soon?

Filly, no, no need for Professional Gizmo to step into the breach. As usual I could get away with 'shambling Amateur Gizmo'. In fact I've had two scans in the past 24 hours , because I forgot to cancel the NHS dating scan this morning, not realising that the private nuchal would have been acceptable as an alternative dating scan.

So I turned up for my NHS scan this morning with the notes from last night, which put me at 11+4, and the sonographer had a good poke around and promptly put me at 12+2, with a measurement 5 mm more than last night. So either a) one of my sonographers is a leetle sloppy or b) this boy is growing 5 mm a day, in which case he'll be 1.05 meters long when he's born.

I feel a bit faint...

Saucepanman · 04/12/2009 17:53

I only have a sec but wanted to say thanks for your lovely words, but also to clarify that I only had one stillbirth, and that ds2 and dd were thankfully fine- they are now 7 and 4 respectively. So sorry for any confusion . I have had a scan and all seems well- will post more later...if you're all still talking to me!

readysetgo · 04/12/2009 18:43

I'm glad to hear all is well saucepanman Gizmo you greedy thing at least you now have a few months to prepare for the worlds longest baby. You'll be in the Guinness Book of Records

nickytwotimes · 04/12/2009 18:53

Thaks, filly.

Saucepanman, no I totally got the birth thing. Still wincing at the clots though!

Gizmo, that there's a big 'un you're growing!
