Last chance for a Scorpio, after this weekend they'll all be Sagittarians!

Scarlotti that is so funny because I was looking at Toby asleep in his basket this morning and I felt broody too! What is going on??? Four children? DH would leave home I think!

katster37 · 09/12/2009 13:43

Ooooo good luck Sass and Skorpion!! Fingers crossed for you.

BBL and Scarlotti that's weird because I had a dream I was pregnant last night, and woke up wishing I was! BBL do you think you might have another? We had always said we would like small age gaps and then I would have a couple of years off work while they were little, but think it's a bit soon to bring that up yet!!

BeckyBendyLegs · 09/12/2009 14:40

I don't think I'll be having another. I'm 38 on Christmas Day so getting on a bit and I think three is a nice number. I was one of three. I'm positive DH thinks this is it anyway. I think I want to enjoy the three I've got as Toby gets older as at the moment I feel I am not enjoying DS1 and DS2 as much as I'd like. I have a friend who's just had her fourth one - I cannot imagine it. Her feet hardly touch the ground. She looks knackered. Plus imagine the food bill when they are teenagers??

Stormfly · 09/12/2009 14:42

Also sending good vibes to Sass and Skorpion - not long now!

Laugs - sounds familiar, Alastair also does that long awake session in the night. Hope he realises soon that the tanking up feed is properly to take place between 7 and 11 pm instead. Funny how the difference between day and night is so obvious and important to us but newborns haven't a clue!

Stormfly · 09/12/2009 14:46

BBL - I'm a bit older than you and am definately done! This is my third too and it feels complete now. Agree it will be nice to concentrate on this one (as well as the older two of course). How are your ds1 & 2 with Toby?

BeckyBendyLegs · 09/12/2009 16:01

DS1 has been more or less ok, sometimes he has a bit of an attitude against me when he doesn't get what he wants or I tell him off for something, which he never did before, he's six. When he's like that he seems quite upset as if he knows he is behaving badly but is craving attention. And the first week he did have a couple of strange illnesses (shivery, just unwell) which we think were his reaction to me being away for two nights and then coming home on his birthday with a new baby. He's quite a sensative little soul anyway.

DS2 wants to cuddle Toby all the time and kiss him. He's really sweet with him. I expected him to react badly as he has been my baby for three years but he's taken it very much in his stride so far. He's much more easy going than DS1 generally.

BeckyBendyLegs · 09/12/2009 16:04

Meant to ask: how about your other two?

It seems on the postnatal thread that a lot of the others with just one DC or a younger DC have experienced sudden night wakings and tantrums, which is how DS1 reacted when DS2 was born.

scarlotti · 09/12/2009 17:18

DS2 is my 3rd but DH's 2nd as DD is his stepDD. It will seem odd in a few years as she'll be heading off to Uni or whatever so we'll be down to 2 at home.
Part of me would love another but it's just the romantic lovliness of a baby I'm thinking of ... not the reality of the added pressure on relationships, finances, work etc.

Took me a while to convince DH that we should still go ahead with DS2 (although naturally now he's here DH is over the moon) so no way I'd convince him of another anyway.

It does feel complete now too and I'm actually looking forward now to being able to get fit again and shift the baby weight I seem to have been carrying around for the last 4 years!

Stormfly · 09/12/2009 19:30

My two have been fine but they are older. Dd is 12 and very helpful walking the baby whilst I grab something to eat. They both want to hold him a lot. My Ds1 is nine and I have been quite relieved that he has taken it so well. I do think that if he was six, he would be reacting like your Ds1 BBL as he would still be in that phase where they are very attached to us and find a little rival hard to accept at first. It is supposed to be hard for boys especially so I guess they do need the reassurance.

scarlotti - you have reminded me that I must make sure to enjoy having the three of them for the next few years before the eldest flies the nest. And I second the getting fit idea - it is so nice to have my body back again (well, ish) after the pregnancy. Baby weight - ah yes, perhaps I'll tackle that in the Spring!

Laugs · 09/12/2009 20:38

Stormfly how old is Alastair now? I can't remember when they start to catch on to night and day. I am just about surviving the mammoth night feeds as DH is on paternity leave, but I'm really not looking forward to managing it when he's back at work.

This is my second baby and I think it'll be my last. I've always only imagined myself having two, although I have to admit towards the end of this pregnancy I started to reconsider that. For all the hardships of pregnancy, it's hard to imagine never doing it again. I'm sure I'll feel the same as James gets bigger and I think about never holding a newborn again etc. I think DH would possibly like one more.

Oh - 8.30? Looks like it's bedtime for me. Hope that Grace, Sass and Skorpion are all cuddled up with their babies tonight.

Stormfly · 09/12/2009 21:15

Alastair is two and a half weeks old now so I think it'll be a while before the night/day thing sorts itself out. I can't remember when either. It is so totally lovely holding a newborn, isn't it?

Ninjacat · 09/12/2009 21:25

Laugs a lullaby for you

skorpion · 09/12/2009 22:53

Hello Mumset, Justin here ...husband of MS member Skorpion. I know you guys have provided great support to my wife during our pregnancy - so I thoguht it my duty to provide you all with a quick update.... So, following as pretty tense couple of days in hospital - our new baby Lucy was born at 4:15pm this afteroon and is by far the prettiest little prune in the universe. I'll leave it to my wife to fill you in with the details over the weekend but rest assured mother and babit are happy as Larry.

All the best,

Justin (AKA mr DH-Skorpion)

Laugs · 10/12/2009 09:22

Hooray! Thanks for bringing us the lovely news Mr Skorpion and huge congratulations to you both on Lucy's arrival Give Skorpion a hug from us

Laugs · 10/12/2009 09:37

Ninja Thanks! I've had that song stuck on repeat in my head for the last week I do love it though. I wonder what a moonlight lady is and if I am becoming one - Sweet baby James is still loving his night-long feeds. Yawn.

How's Alfred? And may I be the first to point you in the direction of the Alfie books by Shirley Hughes if you don't already know them? They are my best ever children's books. In my head, I live in Shirley Hughes' lovely blustery, cosy, messy world. A nice Christmas present for your little man?

Koumak · 10/12/2009 09:49

ursigurke i just cant let go!

Congratulations skorpion family!

Ninjacat · 10/12/2009 12:38

Congratulations Skorpion

I am finding it hard to think let alone type so sorry to be a bit whispy. The EMCS has really knocked the stuffing out of me (literally).

Alfie has gone for a walk in the park with his Daddy, a friend and her children (our back door opens up onto the park - he's not far away).

Laugs I love Shirley Hughes too. Also feeling like a moonlight lady only less glamorous than that sounds.
