Glad i am not the only pne launching into a mad crazy effort to get the house straight for the new arrival. Am trying to get dh to go up in the loft and drag all the baby stuff out for me to go through but he keeps telling me that it is too early silly man we only have just over 10 weeks and this preganacy is flying by so that is no time at all.

Redhelen · 26/06/2005 17:40

Hello Everyone

Sounds like a very bad week had by most - and we hope the coming cooler week will calm our raging hormones!

Had to turn the radio off earlier - real crap billie jole song made me cry- don't go changing - think it was called - think it was billie jole! - I don't think I could change anymore both physically and mentally as I used to be a very together person until the hormones turned me in a Mavis for corry type character - is there hope for me after the bith!!!!

Also desperate desire to clean the house and throw out rubbish! I feel really sorry for dh who keeps looking at me and not knowing if I'm going to cry or shout!! 9-10 WEEKS TO GO!!!! Helenxx

Boompi · 27/06/2005 08:16

I am also putting pressure on dh to do diy stuff in preparation for babies arrival!

Do anyone elses feet hurt? Mine ache if I spend any time standing/walking. They have flattened out (assume effect of hormones) and I guess extra weight doesnt help! Any tips greatly appreciated.

zubb · 27/06/2005 09:08

going to have to buck the trend here - sorry - as have felt great all week and had a really nice, busy weekend.
Haven't thought yet about getting any baby stuff out the loft - still got 10 weeks to go, so will probably do it the week before EDD as usual!
Still waiting for a start date for the builders, so it looks like they will be here before, during and after the baby arrives - not quite what we had planned but when do these things ever turn out right! Have to get on with choosing a kitchen / flooring etc but am so busy with work as well that its difficult to fit it all in, I'm working most evenings as it is so taking much more time out during the day isn't much of an option.
Really need to get the maternity allowance forms as well so will have to pop into town this week - has anyone else got their's sorted yet? I think I still owe them money back from ds2, so will have to see how they deduct that. I told them last time but they didn't contact me at all and haven't taken it through my tax.

singleteenagemum · 27/06/2005 09:17

Hiya,
i'm hoping for a better week this week. Had a horrible weekend as well.
Spent Friday night in hospital, with little one being monitored. I got 2movements during the whole of friday so rang midwife and she said to go in for a check-up, it was horribel got really worried and panicky. They said everything is fine though, he might have just been kicking inwards, still seems wierd to me considering i always get beaten up half hourly now...well i did. Movements still haven't picked up to what they were before, i don;t think space is that restricted at the moment, but who am i to tell....i'm not in there am i? lol...midwife was really nice though, she said to call back at anytime with any concerns and if need be they'd monitor again.

Thank God it's cooled down, little one has got too used to me eating ice lollies and having ice cold dirnks, he only wakes up if i have a cup of tea now...lol

Sorry for rambling

jessysmummy · 27/06/2005 10:36

Desparately trying to think back to the end of last week to recall what kind of a mood I was in...but no...brain cells have died and can barely remember what I had for breakfast...what day it is...who am I?...where am I?....Pregnancy brain!!
Hope all have a better week this week.
STM - sorry to hear that you had a bad weekend. Little one may just be far too comfortable to do too much moving - finally got himself into a cosy position after all that wriggling round! It's good that your midwife is approachable, though. Any worries you can just give her a shout.
Sarahhal - thanks for the link to that dress - looks ok, doesn't it. Might give it a go - what have I got to lose? I've already been to one christening at the weekend wearing an outfit that I thought looked ok only to be told by an uncle that I was much fatter this time round - charming - so definitely need a nice outfit for the wedding in 6 weeks time when I really will be fat!
Shayla - hope DP's mood has improved. IME there's usually an underlying reason for their moods. And us women are supposed to be cryptic!! Hope his op goes ok.

andif · 27/06/2005 10:44

If it makes anyone feel better, a lot of my non-pregnant friends confessed to being in grumps last week - must have been the weather!
Boompi, I am also suffering with sore feet. Got a pair of birkenstocks which really seem to help - new ones cheap on ebay. Find it hard to get comfy in the evenings when all I feel like doing is watching tv - heartburn, busy legs, ligament pains etc etc.
Trying to find a cheap chest of drawers I can paint for baby room - don't really fancy a trip to IKEA, so all ideas gratefully received...

elasticated · 27/06/2005 11:41

hi all - hope you're feeling better after last week. I was away in portugal for work and i think it was cooler there than it was here! Had a lovely pool which definitely helped with the heat and the pollen over there didn't seem to affect me - back here sneezing like mad, its certainly putting those pelvic floor muscles to the test!!!

Lovely to read all the posts and catch up on everyone's news, we had MIL and FIL visiting this weekend and went and order cot and car seat which was quite exciting! Also had my first positive baby dream where we were having a nice cuddle with this tiny new baby(rest of baby dreams have mostly been quite terrifying about birth, forgetting baby etc) so feeling quite chirpy this morning.

Hope work is OK for all you still stuck at work like me - v angry to hear about bosses who don't recognise a pregnant woman's need for a break!!!!

Piccalilli · 27/06/2005 11:57

boompi, my feet really hurt as well, particularly first thing in the morning for some reason. The most helpful thing I've found is a foot spa - got mine from Argos, they do two or three types and it really helps even if you can just do it for 10 minutes or so - which is also a good excuse to sit down and take it easy.

Quick survey - when should I think about getting my hospital bag sorted? I thought 36 weeks but dh thinks that's too late.

zubb · 27/06/2005 12:05

I think 36 weeks is fine for a hospital bag - more organised than I was. I had everything around, just didn't get it into a bag until the week I was due with ds1. I figured that dh could get it all together for me if he needed to.
I did start to pick things up for it a few weeks in advance - those lovely maternity pads and knickers, and bought a pair of slippers which I only ever used for the 5 days I was in hospital. The most essential thing in my bag was chocolate and that couldn't go in until I was leaving for the hospital!

moschops · 27/06/2005 12:26

i'm feeling much better........although the weekend was a bit annoying as we discovered our drains were blocked and had to call the water board out to sort it. couldn't do any washing/have a shower and was even reluctant to use the loo as our manhole is basically right on the street and was overflowing.............

am starting to get hospital bag ready at dp's insistence as he was scared after our trip to A+E weeks ago, and he wants things to be ready......i just can't get motivated. my mum brought me round two travel bags and has bought me toiletries/toothpaste etc. she's also bought me two nighties, a towel, a couple of flannels and a dressing gown.

have a list of essentials like bottle brush, bibs etc to buy and can't get motivated to do that either. am having to do it all online and i find it hard to shop when i can't physically pick something up and look at it!

hope every one is feeling better this week!

Sallie · 27/06/2005 12:47

Hi to you all!!! We have finally moved - it was pretty horrendous in the hot weather and we are now beginning to realise just how much redecorating work and gardening we will need to do - nothing urgent though. Would be good to get the baby's room ready for September but we will have to see as dh has started a new job today which may mean longer hours....

Redhelen · 27/06/2005 13:36

Hello!

I'm getting my hospital bag sorted for 30 weeks - well you never know!

Helenx

bubbles2904 · 27/06/2005 13:49

hi everyone, i too had a crap week at work last week but only 24 working days left so i've decided not to moan about it lol. stm, sorry to hear about your hospital trip, sounds bad, i'm so glad the little one and you are both ok now, it's such a worry. hope the staff looked after you ok, the nhs seem to be getting a battering lately, never had a problem myself though. i have started buying bits for my bag too, got all babys stuff and my toiletries but can't seem to get any further, still 9 weeks and5 days left though so, hopefully plenty of time. my dd felt baby move properly for the first time last night as i was reading her our weekly baby update, she was so excited, bless her. said she can choose the name, and so far she has come up with mia or jasmine, which i am v happy about. i thought she'd have said belle(beauty) or annie as in orphan lol. i would be expecting a curly haired ginger child :O) i am looking to book a 3d scan for the next couple of days, anyone had the experience? was it worth the money?

singleteenagemum · 27/06/2005 14:38

I've not done my bag yet...but i've done babys! Didn't have enough cupboard space for the last few items, so decided to pack it! Even bought nappies last week as i had vouchers that ended on Saturday...was just planning on packing my bag when i needed it...guess that's down to naivity or just laziness...i'll probably do it in first week of maternity, whilst i'm having another sort out of all babys stuff!

franch · 27/06/2005 14:55

You're all panicking me with your bag-packing! Stop!!!!!

jessysmummy · 27/06/2005 15:18

Am I the only one who has done absolutely NOTHING in preparation for the birth of my baby?
And I mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING - nothing bought, nothing painted, not even anything knitted, yet...

zubb · 27/06/2005 15:23

I'm with you jessysmummy! I have been given one outfit by my Mum, and just threw it into a drawer. And thats it. No time yet to think about it - tbh it's only when I read what others are up to that I think that maybe I should think about it a bit more. But 10 weeks to go feels like ages, so I won't worry yet!
Baby won't have a room until the builders are finished anyway, and as thats not likely to be before November there's not anything I can do - luckily! He'll be in with us until it's sorted out, so better be a quiet sleeper!

PiccadillyCircus · 27/06/2005 15:28

I have done very little. Have bought an old fashioned pram on ebay and a newborn grobag (also on ebay). Also a mobile (ebay again) as DS broke his.

I think I am just assuming that whatever sort of baby this is (ie boy or girl) it will wear what DS had to start with. Suppose I should sort out the chaos that is the collection of clothes he used to have. And think about what else is needed. And get attractive disposable pants etc....

Last time I was in and out of hospital from 35 weeks onwards so suppose I ought to pack something some time. I am intending to wait until I stop work (3 weeks on Friday ) before doing anything useful though.

Was wandering around Mothercare at lunchtime looking at small clothes though.....so sweet .

PiccadillyCircus · 27/06/2005 15:29

Just worked out I have 12.5 working days left, and 4.5 of these are working from home .

Kiwifruit · 27/06/2005 15:38

I'm with Franch - stop it immediately! Packing a bag hadn't even crossed my mind (in my mind I'm not having a baby for another 6 months - am just going to stay in a permanent state of pregancy and heartburn ).

Since we're on the bag packing thing though, let's start a list of things to pack...

  • pyjamas
  • dressing gown
  • slippers
  • big, nasty surfboard pads
  • breast pads
  • old knickers to stick big, nasty surfboard pads to...
  • something for us to wear home
  • nappies
  • baby clothes (no idea how many is appropriate...)
  • cotton wool
  • toiletries
  • chocolate for energy
  • lip salve (friend advised this)

Ummm... brain freeze now.

jessysmummy · 27/06/2005 15:41

Very jealous of your time left a t work PC! At least you'll have time to get organised then. I've still got 8.5 weeks at work (only finishing a month before EDD) and you can guarentee that if I haven't got anything ready baby will decide to arrive early. Last time I had the nursery ready, bag packed from about 30 weeks and DD didn't arrive until 42 weeks!
Zubb - like you, baby won't actually have a room until it's been built which may not be sometime until the new year as we haven't even applied for planning permission yet!

jessysmummy · 27/06/2005 15:50

Have added to the list from (very poor) memory:

  • pyjamas
  • dressing gown
  • slippers
  • big, nasty surfboard pads
  • breast pads
  • old knickers to stick big, nasty surfboard pads to...
  • something for us to wear home
  • nappies
  • baby clothes (no idea how many is appropriate...) - more if having to stay in for CS
  • cotton wool
  • toiletries (baby's and mummy's)
  • chocolate for energy
  • lip salve (friend advised this)
  • nipple cream
  • cooling pack incase of stitches
  • baby wipes
  • towel(s)
  • drinks/food to keep you going whilst in labour - probably will mostly be consumed by DH/DP!
  • disposable camers for when DH/DP forgets to bring real camera/ video camera!
  • list of contact numbers for self/DH/DP to call to notify of birth....
singleteenagemum · 27/06/2005 15:53

kiwi

  • toothbrush
  • tootpaste
  • deodrant
  • shampoo
  • would say razor but can't actually reach my legs anymore so only God knows what i'll be like in 10weeks
  • bottles (if bottle feeding)
  • Nappies (if your hospital is cheap like mine)

brain freeze now sorry
