Hi gals,

Had a 4d scan on Sat and it was fab but baby was measuring 27+4 instead of 26+3. So does my due date change?

How's everyone feeling? I'm stressed to the max, having a horrible time at work and I just want to quit but can't.

Is everyone getting excited now? After xmas we're there!!

stressheaderic · 24/11/2009 21:11

Evening all

I'm debating a 4D scan too TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied, said all along we wouldn't bother but really want to see the baby again now. From what I've read, there's huge amounts of variation in growth at this stage so they will prob stick with your original due date despite you finding out you were measuring a bit differently.

Anyone else having huge growth spurts at the moment? I'm 26+5 today, and swear my bump has increased enormously since the weekend, it actually hurts a bit, if that's possible, when I'm walking around too, as if it's stretching. Caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror in work from the side - bad move!

scoobyd00 I commend you for running this late on, and obviously you know your own limitations and what you're doing. I don't think I could even run to the kitchen right now, even though I know there's a Chocolate Orange sitting innocently in the fridge waiting to be tapped and unwrapped...

westlondongirl · 24/11/2009 21:48

I feel the same stressheadric - my bump seems to be growing with alarming speed in the last week. Bit scared about how big it's going to get! My partner is away in the week and whenever he comes back he can't believe how much bigger it is.

In the last few days my ankles have swollen up and my feet kill me if I walk.Is that normal? Never had that before.

Baby is very much head upwards at the moment. In fact he has never been head down that I know of. Has developed an adorable habit of kicking my bladder and kicking me all night but sleeping in the day. Hope this is not a sign of his sleep habits !

GuernseyFrench · 24/11/2009 22:11

westlondongirl mine has exactly the same sleeping patterns! Scary thoughts for the future!!

stoofadoof · 25/11/2009 00:48

good to catch up with everyone (been busy with DD and DH gastroenteritis, tho fortunately i seem to have avoided it!) and hear we're pretty much all alright! also very glad i'm not the only one feeling detatched, so thank you for that - it was starting to bother me a bit!

It's been very hot and muggy down here the last week, but bright blue skies today and not muggy so have got moses basket stuff out airing! I was going to wash vests etc, but think i'll probably leave it another few weeks - still got 12 (ish!) weeks to go!

Got appt with the consultant next week to try and suss out whether to try vbac or elec cs... still dunno what to do!

DD's 3rd bday tom, so once that's out of the way am going to sit and write a list of all the questions i want to ask the consult!

Not feeling remotely christmassy, and a VERY long way from home (specially as that's cumbria and most of our family/friends are there - including some that have been flooded out ) Still, like someone else said once christmas is out of the way, we really are on the home run - can't wait!

keep well all, and welcome newbies!

stoofadoof · 25/11/2009 01:55

oh, and is anyone else getting really bad bleeding gums? last time i had dreadful toothache from about 6 months and during the first few months with DD was at the dentist every week ... am relieved that i don't seem to have toothache really this time, but just the last couple of days my gums are bleeding very badly when i brush my teeth... based on what the hygienist said, i'm just going with it and hoping it'll stop once they stop being spongy in feb!!! (and keeping my eyes closed when spitting in the sink whilst brushing... yeurgh) can't bring myself to floss tho, which is probably a bit daft

stoofadoof · 25/11/2009 01:56

have to add (not that im superstitious touch wood, i've not really had toothache so far.... still a trimester to go!!

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 25/11/2009 04:54

Stoof- I'm in Cumbria! Where are you living now? I keep missing chunks of thread. Sounds lovely wherever it is, it's blowing a hooly here. I'm also getting bleeding gums but they've sort of grown over my teeth too like they're swelling up. Trip to the dentist me thinks.

Stress- awww an earlier baby would have meant earlier mat leave and I'm sick of work.

I've been up since 4 as I have tummy ache and I'm worried about work.

mamaloco · 25/11/2009 07:20

Westlondon I would check with my midwife for your swollen feet. It might be perfectly normal, but if it is painful make her check your BP. And try to put your feet up (it might be because you have poor circulation and all the blood stay "down")
Scoody one of my freind jog almost till the end, but she barely showed at all (i.e. it is more confortable if the baby is somehow "inside"). If you are an experienced runner, you know what you are doing and when to stop (don't overdo it or overheat).

stoofadoof · 25/11/2009 07:21

Totally - down under at the mo... hopefully not for much longer once the bambino arrives!! we emigrated by mistake ... whereabouts are you? most recently lived in carlizzle but worked eden, and before that out west..... hope the tummy feels better soon!

mawbroon · 25/11/2009 07:45

I am feeling lucky compared with all you lot with pg symptoms. I hardly have any this time round.

We are still ill here, so I am barely noticiing that I am pg, except a bit of an achey back at the end of the day, or after doing those tasks where you have to lean over slightly, like washing the dishes or loading the washing machine.

DH has gone back to work this morning after a fortnight off. He is still not quite 100% but I think he is being driven mad by my coughing. He will get his swine flu result today or tomorrow. It's pretty much irrelevant, but will be interesting to know one way or the other.

DS has had fever for 3 days now and has been very disturbed at night time, which has meant that I don't get a lot of sleep. At least with dh home, I have been able to catch up a bit through the day.

My baby is lying sideways a lot. DS did this too, and I think it may be to do with my odd shaped uterus. It is probably wider down there. I have felt him head up, and head down as well though. But, positioning means nothing at this point. No point in worrying about it until 36 weeks or so. And there's not a lot can be done about it anyway, all the torch shining and frozen peas stuff doesn't work!!!

TheOldestCat · 25/11/2009 09:20

Hey all

Marking my place on this thread as I'm busy at work and need to get on. But it's been great catching up with all the news. Hope all those who have been poorly are feeling better.

jardins · 25/11/2009 11:49

Hello Stoofadoof just to report that my gums have been bleeding a lot. Nightmare. My mother says she had exactly the same thing for each of her four pregnancies so maybe it's partly genetic. Anyhow, I'd put it down to pregnancy but thought a trip to the dentist would be most virtuous on my part. Imagine my shock when he started talking about gum disease. A lengthy lesson ensued on how to brush my teeth properly: turns out I've been doing it all wrong for 40 years!!! He told me the bleeding should be encouraged (with a soft brush not hard) as it got rid of the bacteria but considering the fact I am now brushing between 3 and 5 five times a day (God do I eat that much? ) I don't think all this bleeding is doing my iron levels any good. Lordy lord. Anyway I've had to book 2 trips to the hygenist to clean things up. It honestly sobered me up though when he talked about potential hazards of untreated gum disease. I really feel with this third pregnancy (at nearly 32 weeks) that pregnancy does take it's toll on our bodies.

My energy levels are fairly good today. It's funny how some days I feel completely unmotivated and lethargic and others I feel almost NORMAL!!

I had pretty much decided not to have the swine flu jab but now am flung into indecision due to a visit yesterday to the midwives. I was most surprised to discover that mine had changed my mind and was now insisting I have it whilst the other one, who I hadn't seen in a few months, also urged me to have it. Here in France things are certainly escalating in terms of the dreaded flu!!! People are beginning to understand that things could be serious. The question is how much longer can I bury my head in the sand?

I hope everyone is happy and a special thought for those who have been poorly. This too will pass.

Thanks for talking about teeth - reminded me to get on the phone and register with a dentist. Have lived here for 18 months and still not done it. Must take FULL advantage of free treatment! Made DH and I an appointment on his birthday in a couple of weeks' time. Tee hee - he'll love me for that!!

Was about to call MW an hour ago in panic because of movements, but DC has started kicking me again. Could cry with relief after about 24 hours of being convinced it must be dead - ooh - there's a tear... Must be the aquanatal this morning that sorted it out, nothing like jumping up and down in water to wake baby up! The worst thing about the session is the pelvic floor bit - "pull in....and relax...pull in...and relax..." etc. The relaxing is great except that I'm sure i'm going to wee one of these days, what with the sound of water, the bouncing baby on the bladder and all
Anyway, i recommend aquanatal if you've got one near you. Good for meeting people especially and talking about nappies with people who care!

I'm sorry, I gave up on reading the birth stories, i prefer living in lala-land where it'll pop right out.

2 days til swine flu jab appointment. ARGHHHH. Think i'm coming round to having it now... how bad can it be?!

Busymummy22 · 25/11/2009 12:11

Hi People. Well, I went to the Dr this morning as have been feeling grotty for a few weeks. I have myself a lovely chest infection rolls eyes. I think it's the time of year - all sorts of sniffs and sneezes going round. Maybe they're harder to shake off due to being pg? Anyway, hope everyone is feeling brighter soon.

I'm sure you've done this subject to death but anyway... my GP surgery (a big health centre in Bristol) only got 400 of the swine flu vaccines in and I wasn't called to come and have one. They don't know when the next batch is to be delivered. By the time they get around to me, I'll not have long to go! I was still umming and ahh'ing over what to do so I'm thinking this takes the decision out of my hands anyway.

Have a good day everyone!

woowa · 25/11/2009 12:25

Busymummy - i think being pregnant does lower our immune system - along with all the other systems in the body! All falling apart! I was also hoping to remain in denial, but my surgery has the vaccine in now, and didn't even ASK me to make an appointment - they just told me when it was!

Clappedout · 25/11/2009 16:48

Hi all,

Another one completely unable to decide about the swine flu jab. I am booked in to have it tomorrow but feel really apprehensive about it. And then I heard on the radio this morning that the second wave of swine flu has peaked already. I get the bus to and from work so can't help wondering whether I would have got it by now....

Someone make that decision for me!

Feeling fat and pregnant over the last few days, definitely developed a waddle. Quite pleased with myself for going to a gig last night and lasting the night though

GuernseyFrench · 25/11/2009 17:17

I'm scarying myself as I've started shopping for my hospital bag!!

So fat I've got:

  • Arnica
  • Maternity pads
  • PJs
  • Njghty for the delivery

Still 12 weeks to go but as I've been told I'll get induced at 38 weeks or earlier, I though I'll start now!

Good to see that everybody is doing pretty fine

woowa · 25/11/2009 17:47

clappedout - If you have it so will I. Will hold virtual mumsnet hands over the distance and time!

Hospital bag? Am waiting til I get back from parents' house after christmas. Then there will be a bag to put everything in! And hoping I'm not 5 weeks early... eek!

AngelaCarleen · 25/11/2009 18:39

Hi everyone, hope your all feeling well.

It's ages since I've put anything on here because I decided to knit a blanket for my Bean, it's taking me a very long time and I may even finish it before the baby starts school .

Our pram arrived today, along with the car seat. It's all getting a bit serious now! Think I'll have to take myself along to the shops to get some bits and pieces for the hospital bag this weekend, since we've nothing left to buy for baby .

I can't believe I have only 12 weeks (and maybe 10 days as thats the max they let you go over here) to go until I have my baby. I'm so excited!!

I have been given some lovely tubi-bandage for round my bump by the midwife because I've been getting pain in my pelvis, actually it's more like discomfort compared to what some poor women have to go through. My poor baby goes mad with the kicking once I get home after a 12 hour shift and take the bandage off

For those of you getting the SF jab, loads of people at work have had it and they've all been fine aside from sore arms for a couple of days.

Take care everyone
xx

threeplusone · 25/11/2009 21:20

stoffadoof.. happy biethday to your DD for tommorrow..

Everyone has been busy latley.. hope those who havent been feeling well are feeling better.

Had the SF jab on monday and other than a sore arm have been fine.

Baby has been quiet the last few days not moving much.. but seem to be getting alot of internal kicks.. so think it is facing inwards. MW did have alisten for the hb for me yesterday to make sure everything was ok and put my mind at rest and everything was fine.

My freinds son is out of hospital so back to three children running around.

Have had to send a maternity dress back that I bough for the summer ball, as within a week it didnt fit!!!! But decided i looked like the sigar plum fairy in it.. My new one has arrived.. not really something i would wear but it will do for over the xmas period all the parties etc.. am going to alternate between that and a trouser set. Just need to get myself some accessories now.

We are ready for xmas now i think just need to get the food in.. oh and get the cards and some pressies sent back to the UK.

have all the baby clothes ready, and the sheets for the pram, need to order the cot.. I have decided to put the moses basket in the cot in our room at night, so the dog or the boys dont knock it over in the middle of the night if they come wondering in.
Will be washing the clothes after xmas and getting them all put away . I will also do my hospital back after xmas too.
Really the next 12weeks will probably go quite fast..
When you think about it next tuesday we can say we will have a baby in 2 months.. and for some of us it will be I will have a baby next month!!!

My DD said to me you are kidding me when I said only 12weeks left..

We are really struggling with names at the moment..

Any way take care all

pyjamababe · 25/11/2009 21:26

I am STARVING Trying bowls of cereal as a filler but just not as good as cake. Made crispy cakes at work today and had a good old spoonful of mixture straight out of the bowl when no-one was looking

Sorry so many people are feeling poorly or worried about SF. Totally hope you haven't been flooded? Can't believe how much rain there's been! Trying to buy a new car this month (3 doors just not going to work anymore with a car seat...) but thinking I'd be better with a wee boat at this rate!!

Got told off at work for being on stepladders (only on 2nd step) which made me stroppy as am not an invalid, something about a Risk Assessment, oh dear me... 17 more days of work to go.

ktpie · 26/11/2009 08:39

Just a quick hello as I should be getting ready to go out.

pyjamababe- I'm always starving too and wandering round the kitchen looking in cupboards trying to find something I fancy that is filling, seem to be eating a lot of porridge these days!

I'm still merrily plodding along under the impression I've got most things we need for the baby. I've even got some packs of maternity pads somewhere, last time I naively bought one pack of ten which lasted about a day (if that) so DH got sent out in a panic to buy loads more, sorry if TMI but useful for first timers to know (especially if their DPs would be embarassed about buying that sort of thing - in bulk)!

Christmas however is another matter and I'm starting to panic about that as usual. I'm not a big shopper at the best of times and the extra pressure of getting everyone something they will like with zero budget makes it rubbish.

Right better go!

fiziwizzle · 26/11/2009 10:29

Morning everyone! I'm constantly hungry too. Am totally giving in to the urge to eat cakes and biscuits though. And then I'll have a whinge about how much weight I'm putting on, with biscuit crumbs still all round my mouth

pyjamababe I was told off at work for getting on a footstool every day to reach my breakfast cereal - apparently I should ask someone else to do it for me When I said that, realistically, I would carry on getting it for myself the risk assessor said "What would your other half think of that?" and I could quite truthfully say "He thinks I'm ill, not pregnant, he wouldn't give a monkeys"! TBH there are occasions when I wish he would 'pamper' me a little more - I still do all the cooking and cleaning and it would be so nice if he said, put your feet up, I'll take over today. He would if I asked him to - but it would be lovely not to have to ask!
